Communism was launched by the old guard and their benefactor banking friends.
Purpose was to excoriate and demean the rising middle class (commercial class) who were successful in breaking down the old social class order in favor of meritocracy.
They needed radical, useful idiots on the ground to do so, but the progenitors of communism believe(d) that the end result would be a return to the Ancien Regime - ruling aristocracy standing on the necks of serfs.
Alienated labor/control of means of production, etc…this was always economic rubbish tacked on as intellectual justification.
It's why exposing the hypocrisy of the elite Left is so powerful (flying in private jets, making millions for nothing), but they don't care because in their minds communism (disguised as progressive ideology) was ALWAYS for the middle and lower classes.
