There is some ostensible overlap between some of the plot and current events.

 

The bluff being the publicly visible [attempt] to litigate the election fraud (e.g. Rudy G) as Trump and team's only recourse / front of attack.

The reason Julian Assange has not been pardoned is likely because his charges in the US provide legal basis to have him transferred to US custody [extradition], where we will then have 'the goods' and all the power that provides.

True.

But it isn't just bad actors who want him for blackmail purposes. Having 'the goods' can also be a weapon against those implicated. The beauty of corrupt organizations is that they aren't built on trust but on leverage. You can get them to turn on each other.

 

So while his predicament is horrible, I am sure he would be willing to endure it if it leads to true justice.
