With the gaming industry now digital/online mostly, Gamestop suffers the same weakness as Blockbuster did.
You don't need a physical copy of your game anymore.
You won't have much need for physical consoles soon enough.
Everything will be on your computer or in the cloud.
And you can get controllers and necessary hardware online now.
Gamestop has been on the way out for years now. I used to live in a place that I personally witnessed at least half a dozen Gamestop locations shut down.
The employees suck, the environment around the employees sucks, and the management sucks.

It would not surprise me for one second if Gamestop (corporation) was trying to manipulate their own stock value with social engineering tactics so they can fold the company at less of a deficit (or profit, who knows)
The whole situation seems so odd to me.
It's so out in the open, and reddit/4chan jumps off the deep end every time.
