US put on ‘heightened terrorist threat’ alert through APRIL, DHS cites concerns over politically ‘frustrated’ Americans

The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is citing the Capitol unrest to declare a heightened threat of domestic terrorism through April, saying some “individuals” might be frustrated with the Biden administration.

The National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) Bulletin issued Wednesday warns that “some ideologically-motivated violent extremists with objections to the exercise of governmental authority and the presidential transition, as well as other perceived grievances fueled by false narratives, could continue to mobilize to incite or commit violence.”

Moscow issues hefty fines to US state-run media RFERL for failure to declare ‘foreign agent’ status on material aimed at Russians

Russia’s national media watchdog has slapped a media outlet funded and controlled by the US Government with a large fine, after it was found to have failed to declare its links with Washington to audiences, as required by law.

Roskomnadzor, the country’s press regulator, announced on Wednesday that a court had ruled in its favor over charges brought against Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFERL). In a statement, the agency said that it had been fined “for the lack of labelling of information disseminated on the websites of foreign media agents.”

Specifically, two sub-brands associated with the network, Krym.Realli, which focuses on Crimea, and Faktograf, which looks at Russia’s economic situation, were found to be in violation of the rules. Jurists determined that they had failed to meet the requirement to publish their materials with a “foreign agent” marking, notifying readers that they receive much of their funding from abroad. The parent group will be fined a total of 1.1 million rubles (close to $15,000).

Army chaplain calls transgender people ‘mentally unfit,’ ‘ill’ on Facebook – now he’s under investigation

A U.S. Army chaplain is under investigation after criticizing the idea of allowing transgender people to serve in the military and calling them mentally ill in a Facebook post.

Officials with the 3rd Security Force Assistance Brigade (SFAB) at Fort Hood, Texas are looking into comments made by chaplain Maj. Andrew Calvert, on an Army Times Facebook page post on Monday. The Army Times post linked to an article about President Joe Biden’s Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s support for overturning a ban on allowing transgender people to serve. The Army Times has since reported on the controversy that began on its Facebook page.

Calvert commented, “How is rejecting reality (biology) not evidence that a person is mentally unfit (ill), and thus making that person unqualified to serve? There is little difference in this than over those who believe and argue for a ‘flat earth,’ despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. The motivation is different, but the argument is the same. This person is a MedBoard for Mental Wellness waiting to happen. What a waste of military resources and funding!”
