Not exactly.
The death owed must be a spotless sacrifice.
By dying with sin still imputed against oneself,
it is not an acceptable payment.
That's why God put on flesh to make that payment for His people Himself.
Jesus Christ was that spotless Lamb,
fulfilling the shadow of the law,
requiring an inspected sacrifice for sin with no flaws.
Jesus Christ also fulfilled this law when Pontius Pilate declared him innocent three times.
