> Why did God put Adam and Eve in a garden with a poisonous snake that would lead to so much destruction, death and pain for thousands of years?

You have good questions. There are real answers. But one who has already decided the issue for himself won’t hear them. Those who simply will not hear will respond with a “You wrote a lot” meme. Please use the cute dancer.

>Why did God put Adam and Eve in a garden with a poisonous snake that would lead to so much destruction, death and pain for thousands of years?

Why is pain and suffering in the world if God is good and powerful? God already answered this, but no one pays attention, and when they do they are hindered by translations. Translations are interpretations. So forgive me if I get tedious pointing out the issues. A foundation of understanding must be built.

The language

The first word in the Bible is ‘bereshith’ בראשית . It is translated ‘In the beginning’. But if the word is split: ברא-שית now is means ‘created six’. If the middle is pulled out it says ברית with אש at the center, or a covenant with man at the center. If the front is split off בר-אשי-ת it says ‘the son burned ( a metaphor for total devotion) and the תmakes it an object. If it is read letter by letter it says: ב a revelation to man ר it is revealed א that God spoke and created the heavens and the earth ש his word did not return void, but with an increase י his creation ת was complete when the revelation created a new life spontaneously.

This is the nature of the Hebrew language; words get their meaning from the meaning of the letters and subparts within. By ignoring it, one does not get the full meaning of what is being said. This is why I must show you some of the parts that have been hidden from you.

Elohim

The first name given for God is Elohim אלהים . ‘אל God separated from ים his people ( ים water is broken into י creation ם completed by the Son) by ה ignorance.

When God created man, he knew that man did not know him. He is like the stream to the fish. The fish swim where they will and the stream nudges them where he will. The fish cannot see the stream because they are in it. We cannot see God because we are in him. Before creation there was only God. When he created, there was no place outside of God to create, so he first made a void within himself (Ge 1:2). And put his creation there.

The literal history which follows is the story of the fish swimming where they will. As an analogy to the reality of God working behind the scenes, the words which carry the literal meaning also participate in painting a picture of the cross which would not happen for 4000 years. There is no way for the human authors to know about the cross, and yet there it is.

Elohim means ‘God separated from his people by ignorance. Letter-by-letter it means “א God spoke and created the heavens and the earth ל then with a shared heart he taught them of the cross with a ה commandment which they did not understand so his י creation ם was finished by the Son according to the law.

The cross is the culmination of all the teaching of God, where he is made known to be Holy and Love in a perfect union. The Son did for us what we could not even understand needed to be done.

The commandment

The commandment was given to teach something. What does it teach? Like the fish cannot see the stream, we cannot see God. The first lesson is that God is Holy; he is so different that we cannot see him. He placed two trees in the Garden to indicate to Adam that God is separate and different from Adam.

There was nothing magic about the tree or the fruit. God simply told Adam not to eat it BECAUSE HE SAID SO. Adam’s response was “You’re not the boss of me, I’ll do what I want.” Eve ate the fruit for a different reason.

The serpent was ‘more subtle than the other animals’. The other animals were tempting Eve to eat the fruit! It is likely that they were simply eating the fruit and not dying. She probably reconciled this in her mind thinking that they were animals and she was not, and that is what the difference is.

Then the serpent comes along and eats the fruit. Surely it must die as it’s jaw unhinges to engorge it whole. Surely it must die as she watches the shape of the fruit travel down the extended body of the snake. “Eve, see how marvelously God has made me? The fruit looked good, it smelled good, it is obviously good to eat. Didn’t the same God make you? Aren’t you an animal too? You have blood and breath, and natural needs and desires. When I eat I glorify God and his wonderful handiwork, won’t you do the same?”

Her instincts deceived her. She made a choice as though she were an animal, rather than made in the likeness of God.

This did not surprise God. It did not require foreknowledge nor predestination for him to know this. Man does not yet know God. In her ignorance, she ate. It is a teaching moment. This is the part that you won’t like.

Death is not death. The fear of death keeps you in bondage (Heb 2:15). Death is a shadow.(Job 3:5, 10:21,22, 12:22, 16:16, 24:17, 28:3, 34:22, 38:17 etc.) To be absent from the body is to be with the Lord (2Cor 5:8) When you see that death itself is just a transition, and you trust God in this so that you do not fear it, you have a chance of knowing and understanding God.

The purpose of the commandment

The commandment teaches us that we are not gods! It taught Adam that God IS the boss of him. No matter how the fish wiggle and squirm in the stream, the stream is still in control. God made a system which always moves the fish where he wants them, even if they resist.

He made a system where you reap what you sow. (Job 4:8, Ho 10:12)

God gives you what you want. (Ro 18:24) You then get to wallow in the consequences. (Ro 1:26ff)

You cause the pain, suffering, and death. We all do. God made a perfect insane asylum for people who think they are gods; people who determine what is good and evil for themselves.

We all send out ripples of destruction. Sometimes the ripple bounces off something and smacks us back; we have invented our own trouble. Sometimes the ripples hit someone else and we cause them pain. Sometimes our ripples combine and smack some unsuspecting person, and no one can trace it back to a single cause. But it all comes from men thinking the are gods.

Suffering is a schoolmaster to teach us that we are not gods; that we are not in control. The law does the same. Do you think you are a god? Try not lying. God does not lie. Try not stealing. God does not steal.

The rich man chased after Jesus and asked him “Good teacher, what must I do to get into the kingdom”. Jesus said that only God was good, but the man should keep the commandments and he would do well. The man said that he was equal to God since he kept the commandments.

What he had done was used the law to justify himself rather than to use it as intended; to reveal that he was not a god. “I didn’t steal it, I borrowed it and forgot to return it…. But I am good like God.” Jesus told him that if he was like God, then to do what God had done. God gave up everything to be the poor man standing in front of you. Go do likewise and follow.

God did not give the commandment expecting you to follow it. He gave it knowing that you could not, because you ae not God. The attempt would be the lesson for you. Since God himself took the penalty for you not following the law, it’s purpose is that we would marvel at the character of God who is faithful when we are not.

As the light comes on, God speaks into his creation: Let there be light – I am Holy. God is not waiting to destroy you when you sin. He would have done that long ago. He is patiently waiting for you to learn that he alone is God. Patients and long-suffering are characteristics of Love. You have been in his love all along. Now know that he is Holy.

God repenting and grieving?

These are not just anthropomorphisms. The claim that they are is the biggest nonsense. It says that God is incapable of telling us who he is without using things which are not what he is. He really did feel these things.

The fish keep fighting him and dashing themselves on rocks. He grieves at the pain they cause themselves. The revelation by the path of the garden was insufficient for them to know God. The commandment caused a belligerence (Ro 7:10ff) Lesson 1

He revealed himself in a different way by the stones of the desert while the Hebrew were complaining about the heat and not having water. They too died in the desert because the law on the tablets was insufficient for them to know God It was only lesson two.

So he walked among them. His cares for them, bound him like brambles to the cross. (Ge 22:13, Joh 3:16). . But his teaching as he walked among them was insufficient for them to know God. Lesson 3.

Finally, by conquering death, and the gift of his Spirit to lead us in all truth, we could finally know God. Lesson 4. See the four revelations of God to man in Matt 13:3ff.

Through it all, the invisible God hid a second story underneath the literal history. It is there so that we may know him intimately. Unfortunately many teach a cartoon version of his word as they build up their religions.

It really is that simple. God wants you to know him.

The word Israel ישראל means יש man joined to אל God by ר revelation. Letter by letter: י creation was ש increased ר revealing that after א God spoke and created the heavens and the earth ל he taught us about himself through teaching of the cross.

Jerusalem means ‘teaching od peace’

The New Jerusalem is the new teaching of peace, which Jesus ushered in when he said, “You have heard it said… but I say”

The word for marriage is also ‘doctrine’. The bride of Christ are those who are taught by Christ.

The marriage happens now while we are alive, so that we can now be fruitful by the fruit of the Spirit and multiply by teaching.

The marriage supper is the explosion of teaching that took place right after the cross as the hidden mysteries were revealed.

The word ‘saved’ means ‘the flesh that loves teaching.

The kingdom is like leaven, which is teaching.

He said go and make disciples by…. Teaching.

See a pattern?

God wants you to know him. And now he gives his Spirit to lead you in all truth. I am sorry for your suffering and pain. It’s purpose is to teach us that we are not gods; we are not in control. There is a way which is supposed to be, but we mess it up by acting as if we were gods.

Don’t fear death, it is part of our teaching about God. Death is a shadow; a reminder that we are not gods. All flesh must die for this reason. But we are made alive in the spirit.

I will likely not see responses to this. Sorry.
