State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi was arrested on Wednesday and charged with illegally importing and using communication devices found in her home days after she was detained by military forces in Myanmar.

According to a police request to a court, accusations against Nobel Peace Prize laureate Suu Kyi alleged six walkie-talkie radios were discovered after authorities searched her house in the capital city of Naypyidaw. The devices were allegedly imported illegally and used without permission.

If convicted, 75-year-old Suu Kyi could face up to three years in prison. For now, she remains in custody until Feb. 15 and is reportedly confined to her home.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo continued his war of words with Beijing this week, accusing the Communist Party of genocide against Uighur Muslims while Chinese officials again denied all allegations of abuse in Xinjiang.

Speaking on Fox News Radio's Brian Kilmeade Show on Tuesday, Pompeo also repeated the disputed theory that the COVID-19 outbreak began in a laboratory in the central Chinese city of Wuhan.

"There is increasing evidence that this did in fact come from the laboratory, although we don't know that for sure," Pompeo said while calling the disease the "Wuhan Virus."

On Monday, Community Party officials from Xinjiang gathered in Beijing for a third press conference to address allegations of abuse in the northwestern region.

Xu Guixiang, a spokesperson for the Communist Party in Xinjiang, honed in on Secretary Pompeo during this week's hours-long press conference.

He repeated several familiar party lines, including the description of human rights violations as "the lie of the century," concocted by Pompeo in order to "obstruct" President Joe Biden and make fixing U.S.-China relations more difficult.

Xu called Pompeo "hysterical" and compared to him a "rat that everyone wants to kill."

"The American people hate him, and the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang also hate him," Xu said.

The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine supported the closure of 112 Ukraine, NewsOne and ZŃ–K TV channels. This was reported by the press service of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine.

"The United States supports Ukraine’s efforts yesterday to counter Russia’s malign influence, in line with Ukrainian law, in defense of its sovereignty and territorial integrity. We must all work together to prevent disinformation from being deployed as a weapon in an information war against sovereign states," the message says.

On February 2, Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on sanctions against 112 Ukraine, NewsONE and ZiK TV channels. By this decree, he enforced the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on sanctions on the cancellation of the broadcasting licenses of the TV channels belonging to Taras Kozak (112 Ukraine, NewsOne, ZIK). According to the decree that is eligible since the moment of signature, the TV channels faced sanctions that will be active for five years. These sanctions make the broadcasting impossible.

Earlier, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine demands to close YouTube pages of 112 Ukraine, NewsOne and ZIK TV channels.

At the same time, Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament Dmytro Razumkov said that sanctions against TV channels are always bad.

STUTTGART, Germany — The U.S. is no longer actively preparing to move nearly 12,000 troops out of Germany, putting an initiative proposed by the Trump administration on ice while the Pentagon conducts a review, the top American general in Europe said Wednesday.

“At this very moment, every single one of those options, they are all on hold. They will all be reexamined from cradle to grave,” U.S. European Command’s Gen. Tod Wolters told reporters.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has begun “a very thorough review” of the proposed drawdown, which was announced in July by his predecessor, Mark Esper, Wolters said.

At the top of the Massachusetts senator's to-do list upon joining the finance panel—which has jurisdiction over the Internal Revenue Service—will be advancing a two-cent tax on every dollar of individual wealth over $50 million, a proposal that Warren pushed during her 2020 presidential bid. Warren's campaign estimated that the two-cent wealth tax would raise $3.75 trillion in revenue over the next decade.
