Right now, The US government is trying to orchestrate a soft coup in Ecuador, using a CIA run organization (the OAS) as an election integrity watchdog (the OAS is the "Organization of American States", and they orchestrate coups while pretending to defend election integrity. They overthrew Bolivia in 2019 with a military coup, and attempted coups in Venezuala and Nicaragua recently, just to name a few). They want to "verify" votes against a hugely popular candidate.
Why does this matter to you?
Because Ecuador was used to run illegal intelligence operations against Assange during his time in their embassy, and the CIA orchestrated illegal spying campaigns through the country and the Biden admin is absolutely petrified that the shifting levers of power there will expose them.
