653 Deaths + 12,044 Other Injuries Reported Following COVID Vaccine, Latest CDC Data Show

The numbers reflect the latest data available as of Feb. 4 from the CDC’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System website. Of the 653 reported deaths, 602 were from the U.S. The average age of those who died was 77, the youngest was 23.

As of Jan. Feb. 4, 653 deaths — a subset of 12,697 total adverse events — had been reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) following COVID-19 vaccinations. The numbers reflect reports filed between Dec. 14, 2020 and Feb. 4, 2021.

VAERS is the primary mechanism for reporting adverse vaccine reactions in the U.S. Reports submitted to VAERS require further investigation before confirmation can be made that the reported adverse event was caused by the vaccine.

As of Feb. 10, about 44.77 million people in the U.S. had received one or both doses of a COVID vaccine. So far, only the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have been granted Emergency Use Authorization in the U.S. by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). By the FDA’s own definition, the vaccines are still considered experimental until fully licensed.

According to the latest data, 602 of the 653 reported deaths were in the U.S, and 137 of the deaths were related to cardiac disorder. Fifty-three percent of those who died were male, 44% were female, the remaining death reports did not include the gender of the deceased. The average age of those who died was 77, the youngest reported death was of a 23-year-old. The Pfizer vaccine was taken by 58% of those who died, while the Moderna vaccine was taken by 41%.

Defence renews storage deal with Global Switch, years after Government vowed to ditch Chinese-owned firm

The Australian Defence Department has quietly extended a contract with a Chinese-owned company to continue storing data in its Sydney facilities, despite a push to end the arrangement by 2020.

Key points:

Global Switch has held sensitive military files for 10 years

However, there were concerns when a Chinese owned company purchased 49 per cent of the business

A deal between the Government and Global Switch was expected to end last year

For a decade sensitive military files have been stored by Global Switch, but concerns were raised four years ago when a Chinese consortium bought half of its British parent company.

The ownership of Global Switch changed in December 2016 when the London-based parent company, Aldersgate Investments, accepted $4 billion in cash for a 49 per cent stake from Chinese consortium Elegant Jubilee.

In 2017, then treasurer Scott Morrison confirmed strict new conditions had been placed on the Australian operations — and that Defence would begin to shift its data back to a government-owned hub once the contract expired.

"They've made a decision to get their data out of that data centre and that's an entirely appropriate decision, and they'll get that done I understand by 2020," Mr Morrison told reporters at the time.

Now, the ABC has confirmed the Defence Department has been forced to delay its exit from Global Switch, signing a new deal with the company last year.

"Defence has extended its property lease to provide for Defence access to the Global Switch Ultimo (GSU) data centre facility beyond the original lease expiry date of 30 September 2020," a Defence spokesperson told the ABC.

"Defence has migrated part of its holdings to an alternative data centre. This was completed in mid-2020."

The Department says it has also developed a plan to fully migrate its remaining data to another storage centre over the next three to five years:

"The GSU data-centre remains subject to stringent Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) controls and there are appropriate physical security arrangements in place," a spokesperson said.

William McRaven adapts bestseller ‘Make Your Bed’ for kids

The retired U.S. Navy admiral who directed the raid that killed Osama bin Laden is continuing his career as an author.

William McRaven is adapting his best-selling “Make Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Your Life … And Maybe the World” for younger audiences. Little, Brown Books for Young Readers announced Monday that McRaven’s “Make Your Bed With Skipper the Seal” will come out Oct. 12.

“When my three children were young, I always took time to read to them,” McRaven said in a statement. “I found that stories of adventure and overcoming challenges helped shape their character and inspired them to be their very best. I hope that ‘Make Your Bed with Skipper the Seal’ is just such a book!”

McRaven, 65, led the U.S. Joint Special Operations Command in 2011 when a team of Navy SEALs killed bin Laden in Pakistan. He also led the 2009 rescue of Richard Phillips, a ship captain who was captured by Somali pirates and later portrayed by Tom Hanks in the 2013 movie “Captain Phillips.” McRaven, himself a former SEAL, retired from the Navy in 2014.

Financial terms for his new book were not disclosed. McRaven was represented by Robert Barnett, the Washington attorney whose other clients range from former President Barack Obama to novelist James Patterson.

Democrat Rep. Calls for ‘Truth Commission’ to Promote ‘Common Narrative’ About Politics and Race

California Rep. Sara Jacobs is now calling for a “Truth Commission” to push a common narrative about politics and race in the United States.

While it has become a complete cliché to cite Orwell these days — the Ministry of Truth references are impossible to avoid here.

During an appearance on CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” Rep. Jacobs was asked about her previous calls for a “Truth Commission” and what that meant.

“Lots of countries, lots of places have ideologies that are extreme, people who have ideologies that are extreme have conflict, have disagreements within their community,” Jacobs explained. “But there are only some areas where that actually turns into violence, and that’s the role of conflict entrepreneurs — or in other words, leaders.”

“Do you think the House and Senate leadership have the stomach for that?” Stelter asked.

“I think so. Look, we all were victims of this attack in addition to being the lawmakers of this country,” Jacobs said. “This is very personal … I think there are a lot of us who know that this impeachment trial was just the start of holding Donald Trump accountable.”

The 32-year-old representative said that leaders could use “the enabling environment of our media ecosystem” to establish a narrative.

“In the case of the United States, it’s about a ‘whitelash,’ a white Christian America reaction, backlash, to a changing, country personified by Trump,” Stelter said.

“Part of what we’re seeing now is because we haven’t really done the reckoning with the racial injustice and white supremacy of our past that we need to do,” Jacobs said. “A truth commission, a lot of people will think of South Africa … It’s communities all the way up to the national level having conversations about both the gory and the glory of our history and what happened, both throughout the history of our country and leading up to and on January 6, so that we can come to a common narrative, moving forward, of what we want our country to be.”
