653 Deaths + 12,044 Other Injuries Reported Following COVID Vaccine, Latest CDC Data Show

 

The numbers reflect the latest data available as of Feb. 4 from the CDC’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System website. Of the 653 reported deaths, 602 were from the U.S. The average age of those who died was 77, the youngest was 23.

 

As of Jan. Feb. 4, 653 deaths β€” a subset of 12,697 total adverse events β€” had been reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) following COVID-19 vaccinations. The numbers reflect reports filed between Dec. 14, 2020 and Feb. 4, 2021.

 

VAERS is the primary mechanism for reporting adverse vaccine reactions in the U.S. Reports submitted to VAERS require further investigation before confirmation can be made that the reported adverse event was caused by the vaccine.

 

As of Feb. 10, about 44.77 million people in the U.S. had received one or both doses of a COVID vaccine. So far, only the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have been granted Emergency Use Authorization in the U.S. by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). By the FDA’s own definition, the vaccines are still considered experimental until fully licensed.

 

According to the latest data, 602 of the 653 reported deaths were in the U.S, and 137 of the deaths were related to cardiac disorder. Fifty-three percent of those who died were male, 44% were female, the remaining death reports did not include the gender of the deceased. The average age of those who died was 77, the youngest reported death was of a 23-year-old. The Pfizer vaccine was taken by 58% of those who died, while the Moderna vaccine was taken by 41%.

Defence renews storage deal with Global Switch, years after Government vowed to ditch Chinese-owned firm

 

The Australian Defence Department has quietly extended a contract with a Chinese-owned company to continue storing data in its Sydney facilities, despite a push to end the arrangement by 2020.

Key points:

 

Global Switch has held sensitive military files for 10 years

However, there were concerns when a Chinese owned company purchased 49 per cent of the business

A deal between the Government and Global Switch was expected to end last year

 

For a decade sensitive military files have been stored by Global Switch, but concerns were raised four years ago when a Chinese consortium bought half of its British parent company.

 

The ownership of Global Switch changed in December 2016 when the London-based parent company, Aldersgate Investments, accepted $4 billion in cash for a 49 per cent stake from Chinese consortium Elegant Jubilee.

 

In 2017, then treasurer Scott Morrison confirmed strict new conditions had been placed on the Australian operations β€” and that Defence would begin to shift its data back to a government-owned hub once the contract expired.

 

"They've made a decision to get their data out of that data centre and that's an entirely appropriate decision, and they'll get that done I understand by 2020," Mr Morrison told reporters at the time.

 

Now, the ABC has confirmed the Defence Department has been forced to delay its exit from Global Switch, signing a new deal with the company last year.

 

"Defence has extended its property lease to provide for Defence access to the Global Switch Ultimo (GSU) data centre facility beyond the original lease expiry date of 30 September 2020," a Defence spokesperson told the ABC.

 

"Defence has migrated part of its holdings to an alternative data centre. This was completed in mid-2020."

 

The Department says it has also developed a plan to fully migrate its remaining data to another storage centre over the next three to five years:

 

"The GSU data-centre remains subject to stringent Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) controls and there are appropriate physical security arrangements in place," a spokesperson said.

William McRaven is adapting his best-selling β€œMake Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Your Life … And Maybe the World” for younger audiences. Little, Brown Books for Young Readers announced Monday that McRaven’s β€œMake Your Bed With Skipper the Seal” will come out Oct. 12.

 

β€œWhen my three children were young, I always took time to read to them,” McRaven said in a statement. β€œI found that stories of adventure and overcoming challenges helped shape their character and inspired them to be their very best. At least 10 people are dead after torrential rains triggered a landslide on Indonesia's main island of Java, with rescuers digging desperately with their bare hands and farm tools to locate nine missing people, including four children.

Why Progressives and Conservatives Can’t Seem to Agree about Justice

 

The economist Thomas Sowell explains that there are two ruling concepts of justice in America today.

Many Americans today continue to talk past each other in their discussions of justice.

Progressives often see conservatives as insensitive and lacking compassion for the poor and oppressed. They march and protest in the streets for justice and view conservatives’ lack of protest as signs of their racism and privilege. Meanwhile, many conservatives cannot understand how progressives can see their tactics as just. They watch the protesters loot and burn cities and gape at the lawlessness of these social β€œjustice” warriors.

 

The reason why there can be no actual conversation between these groups is that they do not share the same definition of justice. No one explains this better than Thomas Sowell in his book, The Quest for Cosmic Justice.

 

Cosmic Justice vs. Traditional Justice

 

Sowell explains that there are two ruling concepts of justice in America: traditional justice and social or, as he calls it, cosmic justice. Cosmic justice is what someone would choose if they were creating the universe from scratch. For example, if I were to create my own cosmos, I probably would not choose to include racism or poverty. I could eradicate human suffering and pain. Maybe I would ensure total equality of opportunity and outcome. Each of these things have to do with end results; they have nothing to do with the means which would have to bring about these results.

 

Traditional justice, as Sowell explains, is about, β€œimpartial processes rather than either results or prospects.” Sowell gives the example of a law court. A trial is just if handled in accordance with the law and with an impartial judge and jury, no matter the verdict. A baseball game is fair if it was called according to the rules of the game, no matter which side won.

 

Cosmic Justice Ruins Things

 

Sowell opposes the idea of cosmic justice, not because he relishes poor people being poor, or the oppressed being oppressed, but because he knows that every time the government has tried to change the rules to benefit a class that is seen as disadvantaged, the changing of the rules actually does more harm than good. He writes:

 

We must begin with the universe that we were born into and weigh the costs of making any specific change in it to achieve a specific end. We cannot simply 'do something' whenever we are morally indignant, while disdaining to consider the costs entailed.

 

Sowell gives the example of housing reform in 19th century America.

 

Immigrants were living in slums that, to wealthier Americans, did not meet acceptable standards of living. Three to four people were packed into a room, the apartments were poorly ventilated, and tenants often had to go to the bathroom outside if they didn’t share a common hall bathroom. Appalled, reformers set standards for how apartments could be built, how many people could live in a specific amount of space, and other features meant to raise the standard of living.

 

This inevitably raised the cost of the apartments, which many tenants were still able to afford. The reason they were living in apartments far below what they could afford was because they were saving up to send money back to their families who were starving in their homelands and to prepare a better future for themselves and their children.

 

While it seemed to much wealthier observers that they were "helping" these poor immigrants by creating new laws and mandates to raise their living standards, what they really did was take away their freedom to make choices and tradeoffs, and stunt their rise out of poverty.

A spokesperson for the network declined to comment, as did Gutman.

On the day that James Comey signed a FISA spy warrant verifying the infamous Steele dossier, the then-FBI director sent an email to the director of national intelligence declaring the bureau could not corroborate the document of salacious claims about Donald Trump.

 

The Jan. 12, 2017, "smoking gun" email to then-DNI James Clapper was declassified and made public through an open records lawsuit by the Southeastern Legal Foundation, John Solomon of Just the News reported Monday.

Comey's memo came at a crucial point in the Obama administration's Trump-Russia collusion probe, called Operation Crossfire Hurricane. The FBI had been informed by the CIA that the target of the FISA warrant Trump campaign adviser Carter Page was not a Russian spy, Solomon noted. And the bureau had been warned that the dossier created by former British spy Christopher Steele and funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign might have been compromised by Russia disinformation. The FBI also had been warned that the Clinton campaign may have planted the Trump- Russian collusion story to distract from her email scandal. Further, FBI agents had just recommended shutting down the probe of Trumps incoming national security adviser, Michael Flynn, for lack of evidence.

In the email, days before Trump's inauguration, Comey told Clapper, "We are not able to sufficiently corroborate the reporting."

Comey said he was worried that it may not be best for the Intelligence Community in its assessment of the Steele dossier to state that the document is reliable.

"I say that because we HAVE concluded that the source is reliable and has a track record with us of reporting reliable information; we have some visibility into his source network, some of which we have determined to be sub-sources in a position to report on such things; and much of what he reports in the current document is consistent with and corroborative of other reporting included in the body of the main IC report," Comey wrote.

If you follow the firearms industry even slightly, you know that gun laws are continually changing. Every year, senators, members of Congress, and local government pass new legislation barring the use of or the purchase of some types of firearm, accessory, or magazine. How is one to keep up with the never-ending change? What about lowers? Are 80% lowers legal? In most states, yes.

What is an 80% Lower?

 

First, before we dive into the legalities of 80% lowers, let’s determine precisely what an 80 lower is or isn’t.

 

To put it plainly, an 80% lower is a receiver blank. It is not legally a firearm β€” more of a hunk of metal β€” because the key components have not yet been drilled. The drilling is up to you. Once you receive your new lower, your job is to cut and drill the blank until it becomes a stripped lower receiver. Once you are done, you will have it all β€” safety pinholes, trigger, and more.

 

Are 80% Lowers Legal?

 

Yes, absolutely. As a receiver blank is technically not a firearm, it is legal to purchase and own in most states. That being said, some states do have restrictions regarding β€œghost guns” or 80% firearms.

 

New Jersey β€” Though receiver blanks are not firearms, New Jersey A.G. Gurbir Grewal demanded firearm retailers stop selling 80% lowers and β€œghost guns.” He threatened fines and legal action to those who sold or own any.

Washington β€” Washington recently passed House Bill 1739, which bans the sale of β€œundetectable firearms” or β€œghost guns.” You cannot purchase, own, or construct an 80% polymer lower in the state. However, you may buy aluminum lowers.

New York β€” In September 2019, the New York Attorney General submitted numerous Cease and Desist letters to retailers and manufacturers selling 80% lowers and kits. He claimed these products were illegal. Since then, New York has followed California in banning fixed magazines from AR-15s.

California β€” California allows 80% lowers and receiver blanks. However, before constructing an 80% AR-15 from a blank, California residents must apply for a serial number for their firearm via the California Department of Justice. This requirement stems from A.B.857, a bill that went into effect on July 1st, 2018.

Connecticut β€” Connecticut passed Substitute House Bill No. 7219, Public Act No. 19-6, effectively banning the shipment and ownership of 80% lowers and receiver blanks.

Do I Require an FFL?

 

No, an FFL is not required to purchase an 80% lower or build an AR-15 from a receiver blank. As the blank is not yet considered a firearm, it does not follow the same rules and regulations set forth by the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives).

Do I Need a Serial Number On My 80% Lower?

 

Again, no, not in most states. According to federal law, an 80% lower does not require a unique serial number, even if you finish constructing an AR-15 from the blank.

 

In some states, such as California, they require you to serialize your firearm’s receiver. You’ll want to check local and state laws before finishing your build.

Can I Sell An 80% AR-15?

 

You cannot construct an 80% AR-15 intending to sell, according to the ATF, if you build a firearm intending to sell to the public, you become a manufacturer. At that point, you must become a licensed FFL.

 

However, if you own your AR-15 for some time, but later on decide to sell, that’s okay. Simply put, do not buy many receiver blanks, finish the build, then sell them to your neighbors or the general public. The ATF will crack down on you quickly, and they won’t be kind enough to issue a warning. You will probably walk away in handcuffs.

Other Types of 80% Frames

 

While most legislation focuses on the AR-15 β€” the boogeymen of firearms β€” it’s not uncommon for DIY types to construct their own 1911, Glock, or Sig Sauer P320. You can find 80% frames, or blanks, for each one of these.

 

We fully expect more models to become available as 80% frames, especially as the market continues to grow across the country.

 

If you’re at all concerned with the legalities of owning or building an 80% firearm, you’ve done well by researching the topic. Do yourself a favor and double-check local and state laws before you wind up on an ATF list.

Receiver blanks that do not meet the definition of a "firearm" are not subject to regulation under the Gun Control Act (GCA). ATF has long held that items such as receiver blanks, "castings" or "machined bodies" in which the fire-control cavity area is completely solid and un-machined have not reached the "stage of manufacture" which would result in the classification of a firearm according to the GCA.

 

The following three photos are provided as examples. The first receiver has a solid, un-machined fire-control cavity area with no holes or dimples for the selector, trigger, or hammer pins. It does not meet the GCA definition of a firearm. The second receiver, shown from the top, likewise has a solid, un-machined fire-control cavity area. It does not meet the GCA definition of a firearm. The third receiver has a partially machined fire-control cavity and does meet the GCA definition of a firearm.
