I've never done an 80%, but I did help my son-inlaw put together an ar15 look-alike airsoft gun kit
The kit required a machine shop (which i have) to finish correctly, and that was just an airsoft gun.

that's the problem we ran into.. getting the trigger/barrel/mag to play nice together.. the kit was a replica style, so the thing worked as much like the real thing as airsoft allows… including the recoil tube.
