This happened on the ZIMMR flight path over Broomfield, CO, which is a suburb north of Denver, during the climb after taking off from DIA. Most of the debris fell into Community Park, though some also fell onto Sheridan Boulevard at 136th Avenue, and some fell onto residential property near the park. No one on the ground was injured, though several people at the dog park had to run for cover.

I live a few miles from there. It really happened, and the photos are legit. The large, round metal item is called a cowling ring. It apparently is the piece that we see at the front of the engine assembly.
