Gov. Andrew Cuomo Releases Statement Following Sexual Harassment Allegations

New York Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo released a statement on Sunday afternoon apologizing for his behavior after two women came forward and claimed that he sexually harassed them while they worked in his administration.

The statement from Cuomo comes after “Lindsey Boylan, a candidate for Manhattan borough president who formerly worked for Cuomo and the state’s economic development agency, revealed in a blog post on Wednesday that the governor had kissed her without her consent and asked her to play strip poker,” Politico reported. “Then, on Saturday, The New York Times reported that Charlotte Bennett, a former executive assistant and health policy adviser to Cuomo, was also sexually harassed by the governor, including inappropriate questions about her sex life.”

“Questions have been raised about some of my past interactions with people in the office,” the statement began. “I never intended to offend anyone or cause any harm. I spend most of my life at work, and colleagues are often also personal friends. At work sometimes I think I am being playful and make jokes that I think are funny. I do, on occasion, tease people in what I think is a good natured way. I do it in public and in private. You have seen me do it at briefings hundreds of times. I have teased people about their personal lives, their relationships, about getting married or not getting married.”

“I mean no offense and only attempt to add some levity and banter to what is a very serious business,” Cuomo continued. “I now understand that my interactions may have been insensitive or too personal and that some of my comments, given my position, made others feel in ways I never intended. I acknowledge some of the things I have said have been misinterpreted as an unwanted flirtation. To the extent anyone felt that way, I am truly sorry about that.”

“To be clear I never inappropriately touched anybody and I never propositioned anybody and I never intended to make anyone feel uncomfortable, but these are allegations that New Yorkers deserve answers to,” the statement concluded. “That’s why I have asked for an outside, independent review that looks at these allegations. Separately, my office has heard anecdotally that some people have reached out to Ms. Bennett to express displeasure about her coming forward. My message to anyone doing that is you have misjudged what matters to me and my administration and you should stop now – period.”

White House Press Secretary discussed the issue on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday, and suggested that Biden believed the essence of the claims that were being made.

“Charlotte should be treated with respect and dignity. So should Lindsey,” Psaki said. “And there should be an independent review looking into these allegations. And that’s certainly something [Biden] supports and we believe should move forward as quickly as possible.”

Pulitzer Winning Journalist Announces COVID Death Count Lawsuit Against Michigan Governor

With all the nonsense going on in New York with the son of Mario and big brother of Fredo in regards to his administration hiding nursing home death totals, you just knew that questions were going to be asked in other states also. Well, here in the State of Michigan, one Michiganian ( Fact Check: Hey Michigan, You Are NOT a Michigander.) is asking how our Governor has handled this.

Enter, Charlie LeDuff.

LeDuff is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and currently, the host of the No Bullshit News Hour heard over on the Red Shovel Network here in the Detroit area of the mitten state. For over 20 years he has developed a reputation of taking on stories and subjects that people will ignore or don’t want talked about. With this story, he has taken on a doozy in announcing he is joining forces with the Mackinac Center to sue Governor Whitmer to release the COVID-19 death toll data in nursing homes.

LeDuff announced this action was being taken on his show after speaking with the incredible Janice Dean. The Fox News meteorologist has almost single-handedly made the New York story of how Andrew Cuomo has refused to release similar data in that state after the death of her in-laws last year and made it national news.

Here is what LeDuff said on his show…

The Whitmer administration has not fulfilled my request or our request on the No Bullshit News Hour for COVID death data that may shed light on the true extent of the nursing home devastation. This, in my opinion, is a violation of state law, and more so and this is not an opinion, it is a danger and a disservice to our institutionalized elders who have borne the brunt of the suffering and continue to bear it. (Guv) Cuomo in New York is now under Federal investigation, a second one apparently for misleading the public whose nursing home playbook was copied by (Guv) Whitmer. This in the aftermath of an investigation conducted by the office of the New York State Attorney General, a democrat.

LeDuff continues:

Release the data Madame Governor but she won’t, so Steve Deliee the lead policy lawyer on transparency and open government with the august and well regarded Mackinac Center the non-partisan think tank here in Michigan, they have agreed to take our case to sue the Whitmer administration for the death data in these nursing homes.

Governor Whitmer has decided just to say that she is basing this on the science and the data is enough and should be taken as Gospel, case closed. No elected official nor any administration should be allowed to decide that the very data they are using to implement policy is beyond the examination of the unwashed masses.

LeDuff’s request is reasonable and it is also a shame that no one else who covers the Governor up in Lansing has really dug into this story. Way too many of the decisions of the lockdown Governors and the data they used to justify them are being hidden. Sunlight is said to be the best disinfectant and I have a feeling those being forced to face this sunshine are not going to like it.

Pres. Trump "Names Names" In His Speech at CPAC – Putting Primary Targets on the Backs of GOP Members Who Voted To Impeach

It was a not-all-that-surprising moment in his speech to the CPAC Annual Convention in Orlando today when Pres. Trump went right at his detractors in the Republican Party who joined with the House Democrats in voting to impeach him, as well as GOP Senators who votes to convict him — the only purpose of which was to prevent him from running for the Presidency again in 2024 (maybe).

Pres. Trump argued that now is the time to select Republican Party leaders who have more energy and interest in attacking “Biden, Pelosi, Schumer, and the Democrats” — who want to turn the United States into a socialist country — rather than spending the using their time and energy attacking him and the GOP electorate that voted for him.

Pres. Trump called out what he referred to as “Grand Standers” in the GOP, naming Mitt Romney, Ben Sasse, Richard Burr, Bill Cassidy, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Pat Toomey, all of whom voted with the Democrats in the Senate to convict him on the Article of Impeachment passed by the House.

He then named the ten GOP members of the House who voted in favor of Impeachment — Tom Rice, Adam Kinzinger, Dan Newhouse, Anthony Gonzalez, Fred Upton, Jaime Herrera Beutler, Peter Meijer, John Katko, David Valadao — and Liz Cheney.

Of the Senators, Burr and Toomey have already announced they plan to retire from the Senate at the end of their current terms. Sasse, Cassidy, and Collins were just re-elected in 2020. Romney likely feels safe in Utah, and Murkowski had already been promised by Trump that he would campaign for any Republican who will enter the race against her.

In the House, Rice has guaranteed himself a primary challenger — and likely a primary defeat — in his very pro-Trump district in South Carolina. Kinzinger comes from an Illinois district that seems to favor moderate Republicans over conservatives, and his seat might be in danger of being eliminated by Illinois Democrats if Illinois loses a congressional seat as expected after the 2020 Census.

Newhouse represents one of the more rural districts of Washington State — which Trump carried in 2020 by a margin of 58-40. He likely earned himself a primary challenge with his vote, having only served three terms himself.

Anthony Gonzalez is an Ohio State and NFL football star and can likely survive his vote in his central Ohio district which Trump carried by 15 points. He might be one GOP House member that Pres. Trump is persuaded to not target since his presence in the GOP as a high-profile conservative Latino resonates with Trump’s MAGA base.

Fred Upton is a swamp creature, having served in the House since 1987. His moderate GOP district was won by Pres. Trump only by a margin of 51-47. He’s long been one of the most moderate-to-liberal members of the House GOP caucus. He is certain to attract a pro-Trump primary challenge, but he likely survives if he chooses to run for an 18th term.

Jaime Herrera Beutler occupies a Washington district on that state’s border with Oregon. Pres. Trump won the district the narrow 51-47 margin. Herrera-Beutler will likely draw a pro-Trump primary challenger, but even if she survives that, she is one of the GOP House members most likely to see her seat flip to the Democrats in 2022.

Pete Meijer is a GOP freshman with an impressive biography and appears to be a solid conservative in a fairly closely divided district. He might be another House member that Pres. Trump is persuaded to leave alone, and not encourage a primary challenge that might end up with the district flipping to the Democrats.

John Katko is in similar shape — a former federal prosecutor in a moderate and evenly divided New York district that could easily be lost to the Democrats if Katko is pushed out by a primary challenge.

David Valadao won back his Central California seat by an extraordinarily close margin. There is a strong pro-Trump base in his district and he is certain to draw a primary challenge just to the north of Devin Nunes.

That leaves Liz Cheney. She’s roadkill after a primary challenge in Wyoming — all without any fear that the seat would be lost to the Democrats in 2022. Maybe there is a House seat she can run for in Virginia where she has always lived for most of the past 30+ years.

Sexual Predator Cuomo Releases Statement: Was 'Being Playful,' 'May Have Been Misinterpreted as Unwanted Flirtation'

The walls of the New York governor’s mansion are closing in fast on embattled Andrew Cuomo and he knows it. The “Luv Guv” made that clear in a press release late Sunday, following accusations of inappropriate sexual advances by a second former staffer, including allegedly asking the 25-year-old former aide if she slept with older men, and telling her he was “open to relationships” with “anyone above the age of 22.”

In the press release, Cuomo “shockingly” went with the standard “I was just playing around but now that I think about it I might have been misinterpreted” defense.

First, the “I never intended to offend anyone” schtick. (It’s a New York thing. “Schtick.”)

“Questions have been raised about some of my past interactions with people in the office. I never intended to offend anyone or cause any harm. I spend most of my life at work and colleagues are often also personal friends.

“At work sometimes I think I am being playful and make jokes that I think are funny. I do, on occasion, tease people in what I think is a good-natured way. I do it in public and in private.

“You have seen me do it at briefings hundreds of times. I have teased people about their personal lives, their relationships, about getting married or not getting married.

“I mean no offense and only attempt to add some levity and banter to what is a very serious business.”

Otherwise known as the couching of the mea culpa, which he began with a faux epiphany.

“I now understand that my interactions may have been insensitive or too personaland that some of my comments, given my position, made others feel in ways I never intended.

“I acknowledge some of the things I have said have been misinterpreted as an unwanted flirtation. To the extent anyone felt that way, I am truly sorry about that.”

Translation: He got caught. Twice. Now he’s trying to save his ass.

Cuomo did, however, explicitly deny that he “touched anybody” and claimed he “never propositioned anybody,” as reported by Fox News, which directly contradicts the claims made by his first accuser, former aide Lindsey Boylan, who alleged the governor touched her and forcibly kissed her on the lips. And the over/under on Cuomo lying is?

“I never intended to make anyone feel uncomfortable, but these are allegations that New Yorkers deserve answers to,” Cuomo said. “That’s why I have asked for an outside independent review that looks at these allegations.”

Yeah, no. You asked for an outside independent review after Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jerald Nadler, and other prominent New York lawmakers demanded one following your attempt to hand the investigation to a retired judge who is a former law-firm colleague of Steve Cohen, your former top aide.

“Separately,” Cuomo said, “my office has heard anecdotally that some people have reached out to Ms. (Charlotte) Bennett (Cuomo’s second accuser) to express displeasure about her coming forward. My message to anyone doing that is you have misjudged what matters to me and my administration and you should stop now – period.”

Pardon the skepticism, governor, but what a complete and utter load of crap.

“What matters to you and your administration”? Why didn’t you “stop” before you “allegedly” asked a 25-year old member of your administration if she sleeps with older men, and “allegedly” tell her you’re good to go with anyone over 22? You got caught. You lied. You got caught again. The walls began to close in. Now you’re “truly sorry.”

The only thing you’re “truly sorry” about is everything I just said.

Incidentally, I’m gonna go ahead and mark Rose McGowan down as a “maybe,” based on her response to Cuomo’s press release.

Ron DeSantis At CPAC: ‘Florida Got It Right And The Locked-Down States Got It Wrong’

On Friday, Republican Gov. of Florida Ron DeSantis addressed the audience at the 2021 Conservative Political Action Conference and asserted that Florida “got it right” on COVID-19 handling, whereas “the locked down states got it wrong.”

“Now we are stronger as a state and much happier as a people because of this leadership. Florida has lower per capita COVID mortality than the national average and lower than 27 other states,” DeSantis said. “Our unemployment rate is lower than the national average, even though tourism isn’t fully back. And our budget is in great shape — we have not touched one red cent from our rainy day fund throughout this whole time. Florida got it right, and the locked-down states got it wrong.”

The crowd in Orlando roared in response to the governor’s declaration that the state of Florida has maintained lower than average COVID-19 fatality rates in relation to the country, as well as keeping the state open for business. In May, DeSantis lifted his initial lockdown restrictions, as well as the prior stay-at-home order, switching to a policy of focused protection recommended by numerous medical professionals.

According to data from the U.S. Census Bureau as of Feb. 26, 2021, Florida has a COVID-19 fatality rate of 142 per 100,000 state residents, in comparison to New Jersey (260), New York (241), Rhode Island (236), Massachusetts (232)—and lower than 23 other states.

MSNBC and others in the left-wing media attacked DeSantis earlier this month for prioritizing COVID-19 vaccinations for vulnerable seniors in Florida, while commentators like CNN’s Jim Acosta continue to neglect Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y.’s unethical practice of sending more than 9,000 COVID-19 infected seniors back to nursing homes among those most vulnerable to the disease.

Cuomo is currently the target of a federal investigation, and his top aide secretary Melissa DeRosa told the public that the Cuomo administration “froze” fatality reporting because of fears that it would “be used against us.” Prior to this statement from DeRosa, New York Attorney General Letitia James released a 76-page report saying the New York Department of Health underreported nursing home fatalities by more than 50 percent.

“[I]t is imperative that we understand why the residents of nursing homes in New York unnecessarily suffered at such an alarming rate,” James said, after months of investigating New York’s handling. “While we cannot bring back the individuals we lost to this crisis, this report seeks to offer transparency that the public deserves and to spur increased action to protect our most vulnerable residents.”

DeSantis characterized Florida as “an oasis of freedom in a nation that’s suffering from the yoke of oppressive lockdowns” earlier in the CPAC speech. “We look around in other parts of our country and in too many places we see schools closed, businesses shuttered and lives destroyed,” DeSantis said. “Florida lifted people up.”

Former President Donald Trump is set to speak at CPAC this Sunday, and will reportedly discuss the Biden administration.
