Most of us have known for a very long time that there was a dark, evil subculture at the top. Undercurrents of unspeakable acts, contempt for the public and the obvious two-tier system: they get away with malfeasance including murder, and we get reamed by the IRS for pennies.
Until last year, even the Doutroux case was but a muffled, fleeting, passing statement that was buried and starved of oxygen even though it should have broken the world in two. The Jimmy Saville case and PIE situation should have elicited mass purchases of pitchforks and resulted in sweeping changes, but alas, while publicized to some extent, the show still went on. The wealthy and corrupt just shifted where they abused defenseless children.
Likewise in the USA, many know about the predilections of the scions of Hollyweird. Lost Boy talked about it and so have others, yet they seemed untouchable. The scandal of the Franklin Affair with Boystown and GW Bush running boy prostitutes through the WH also seemed to have no lasting effect whatsoever. Nothing changed.
For /pol/acks and others, this constant drumbeat of in-your-face fuckery, the blatant protection of obviously guilty, obscenely debased and demented people is what pushed many to "want to watch the world burn." Sure, we can meme, we can shame, ridicule, and kill the hopes and dreams of someone with a savage wit and merciless focus on their hypocrisy, venality and idiocy. But did that save any children?
Enter Donald J. Trump, billionaire playboy celebrity businessman and showman. Making the leap from business & showbiz to the greatest show ever - American politics - many of us watched with bemused detachment… until we realized he was speaking to us. He was speaking directly to us.
Fast-forward past the meme war of 2016 and the glorious election night with the harvesting of millions of salt mines, the elation of the inauguration ceremony.
