China forcing anal swab COVID tests on many foreign travelers

China has made its headline-grabbing anal swab test mandatory for many foreign travelers arriving in several major cities in the country, according to Chinese state media on Tuesday.

China’s Global Times reported several Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai and the port city of Qingdao, are requiring the invasive anal swab tests in a wide range of cases. Global Times reported the test entails inserting a cotton swab from three to five centimeters long (about one to two inches) and rotating it for 10 seconds.

Chinese medical workers will also test travelers with the nose and throat swabs on the third and seventh day after arrival and use the anal swab test on the 14th and 21st day after arriving in Beijing.

Israel is preparing to attack Iran’s nuclear sites

In his first sit-down interview with an American news outlet, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz said Friday that Israel has updated its target list and is preparing to strike Iranian nuclear sites if the world does not act to stop Iran’s nuclear development.

Speaking with Fox News reporter Trey Yingst, Gantz said Israel has found numerous targets in Iran that would slow its nuclear development if attacked.

“If the world stops them before, it’s very much good,” Gantz said. “But if not, we must stand independently and we must defend ourselves by ourselves.”

House passes bill allowing DOJ to force deletion of social media posts from select users

The House of Representatives passed H.R. 1, the “For The People Act,” on Wednesday, a bill that would allow the Department of Justice to require social media platforms to remove posts from certain users.

Originally introduced as The Foreign Agent Disclaimer Enhancement (FADE) Act, FADE was included in H.R. 1 as an amendment by a vote of 223-208 Wednesday night. The addition requires social media sites to include a disclaimer on political content if it is funded by a foreign agent, and if that disclaimer is not included, the DOJ can order the social media site to remove the posts.

The amendment was included as an effort to limit foreign disinformation and propaganda. No Republicans voted in favor of the legislation, and just one Democrat opposed it

The Stanford Daily, the student newspaper of Stanford University, published an op-ed criticizing the Stanford College Republicans, saying they don’t deserve a place on campus. The news outlet now isn’t letting the College Republicans chapter respond to the allegation.

Claire Dinshaw, a senior at Stanford, wrote the op-ed, titled “SCR does not deserve its place on campus,” where she argued that the group has gone “unpunished” for promoting “misogynistic” and “hateful” views.

“There are multiple groups on campus that have platformed and promoted racist, misogynistic and hateful rhetoric over the years. But one group stands among the rest as the most consistently unpunished offender: the Stanford College Republicans,” she wrote
