If you think about it, the deep state is likely compartmentalised, meaning others in the cabal would not know who was or was not in the cabal, if this was the case, forwarding Elons name would suggest to others that Spacex and Elon were on the side of evil when this was not the case. This likely prevented the media attacks on Spacex.

With standard communication impossible, they would not be able to verify if he was a white or black hat.
