>Note the swell direction in vid cap vs LBP. DIFFERENT. But looks just about as calm in both.

Yes, from West, but still sheltered by PV Peninsula. Long Beach Port location was a good location choice, eh?

>4 Astronaut islands. Do the movable derricks register on live maps?

Last I heard, it was 3 astronaut islands, named for the 3 Apollo astronauts that perished in a tragic fire in the crew capsule while on the launch pad.

Did they add another?

>Timeframe still up in the air, pun intended.

Funny you mention. That LBP pic has a lot of smog evident for a coastal area. Leaning toward not Winter or windy seasons of change. Possibly Summer to late Summer thru Fall. The air would be still to allow smog to be on coast or drawn to the coast, as hotter air (higher pressure) is drawn to colder air (low pressure). So in a calm weather situation hotter land air is drawn to colder coastal air. Will look moar closely, as there are times when "Santa Ana" winds that occur at a certain time of year (season of change). Santa Anas push warm land air Southward.

See pic from the NWS showing the complete So.Cal shoreline with air cleared by this OFFSHORE wind phenomenon.

Wikipedia: The Santa Ana winds are strong, extremely dry downslope winds that originate inland and affect coastal Southern California and northern Baja California. They originate from cool, dry high-pressure air masses in the Great Basin.

The Santa Ana winds sweep down from the deserts and across coastal Southern California, pushing dust and smoke from wildfires far out over the Pacific Ocean. Los Angeles is in the upper left of this image, while San Diego is near the center.

Santa Ana winds are known for the hot, dry weather that they bring in autumn (often the hottest of the year), but they can also arise at other times of the year.[1] They often bring the lowest relative humidities of the year to coastal Southern California. These low humidities, combined with the warm, compressionally-heated air mass, plus high wind speeds, create critical fire weather conditions. Also sometimes called "devil winds",[2][3] the Santa Anas are infamous for fanning regional wildfires.

Putting this info out with a mind to eliminate certain times when the skies in the LA Basin will be cleared due to these offshore winds. Include Winter weather for clearing LA skies. Conversely, one could eliminate notable fires in the area which can cover LA in an orange pall of smoke- not visible in the LBP Q pic dropped. A random thot: "First and ten" could be a possible reference to US football season, if trying to guess a timeframe for LBP.

"1st and 10" in Q's LBP pic a possible timeframe hinting at American football season?

The pre-season usually starts in mid-August and is a 4 game series. Regular season start in mid September and run through early January. There are 16 games. The playoffs start immediately after the last regular season ends. The first week of playoffs teams rated 3, 4, 5, and 6 in each division play. The 1 and 2 rated teams get the week off. The next week the #1 and lowest rated team play and the #2 team plays the highest rated team from the previous week. The last week of the playoffs pits the winners of the previous weeks games. The winners of those games play in the Super Bowl, which is two weeks after the division playoff games. The Super Bowl is usually played early in February.

Anon, I believe Vessrl 3 is a BARGE being loaded by Vessel 4 which is a GRAB DREDGER.

From similarity in appearance, I believe Vessel 2 is actially 2 more BARGES which appear to be staged outside the work area, ready for use after BARGE (Vessel 3) is fully loaded.

See pics included only to identify Vessel 4 as a GRAB DREDGER with tall derrick used to grab debris snd drop it into the barges.

Cross those off the list.

Thanks for the correction, Anon.

Barges motorized. Scows not motorized; towed.

If Q ever shows us more on this LBP pic, UK anons gonna be all informed telling everyone whasup and why using proper terminology about swell direction, scows and grab dredgers.

Good job, Anons.

Hmmmm. 40 sites marked on that refurb map…
