GAO investigating Biden over border wall funding freeze, report says

President Joe Biden is being investigated by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to determine whether he broke the law by freezing billions of dollars allocated by Congress for the U.S.-Mexico border wall, Politico reported on Tuesday.

During his first day in office, Biden paused funding for the border wall, and doing so may have broken rules in place to safeguard Congress’ control of the federal budget. Additionally, Congressional Republicans say Biden’s action has contributed to the worsening crisis at America’s southern border.

US Appeals court rules bump stock devices are not ‘machine guns’

The U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on Thursday that bump stock accessories cannot be considered “machine guns” and thus not subjected to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) ban.

On Dec. 26, 2018, ATF classified plastic bump stock accessories as “machine guns” defined in the Gun Control Act and National Firearms Act, despite them having no ability to fire on their own. The move came after former President Donald Trump’s Feb. 20, 2018 memo ordering the Attorney General to develop the ban, which was spurred by reactions to the deadly Oct. 2017 Las Vegas shooting carried out using bump stocks affixed to rifles.

“The district court erred by finding that the ATF’s Final Rule, which interpreted the meaning of a machine gun as defined in 26 U.S.C. § 5845(b), was entitled to Chevron deference,” the 6th Circuit ruling said, in reversing the district court’s decision.

Georgia adopts election integrity law denounced by Democrats as immoral, ‘evil’ and racist

The US state of Georgia once again became a battlefield in the political war, thanks to an election reform bill most Republicans saw as too little, too late – and Democrats denounced as racist, evil and immoral voter suppression.

Governor Brian Kemp, a Republican, signed the Election Integrity Act of 2021 into law on Thursday, just hours after it was approved in the state legislature: 100-75 in the House of Representatives and 34-20 in the Senate.

The law requires a valid photo ID for voting by mail, reduces the window to request mail-in ballots, and regulates the placement and duration of ballot drop boxes. It also replaces the secretary of state with a legislature-appointed official, as the chair of the state board of elections, and allows the board to fire county election officials for failing in their duties.

Democrats were quick to denounce the law as “immoral” and “evil,” as well as racist.

People talk about politics like it's a game sometimes. What's happening in Georgia today is immoral. This is an evil act. Evil exists and it voted for Jim Crow today.
