Interesting idea. My was of modifying masks for enhanced breathability is to remove the innermost layer with scissors. You just need to be careful not to accidentally damage it visibly.
BTW here at Rochester Institute of Technology a worrisome number of people are starting to wear two masks at once (which does the opposite my recommendation above). Perhaps I should have gone to a school where the average IQ is above 80.
