Roberto Speranza: "I shut down [the economy] in order to impose a leftist culture". A shame that tastes of Stalinism: the worst minister

Renato Farina April 14, 2021

The point of fragility of this government is Roberto Speranza . It doesn't last. Not as the Ministry of Health, at least. The ballast must be thrown into the sea, or transferred to some flagged raft where the young Lucanian takes care of harmless materials without damaging them, such as the organization of campsites for friends of Vietnam or for the children of the Bolivarian she-wolf. Mario Draghi had saved him a few days ago, loading him on his shoulders and taking him half dead from Matteo Salvini's broadsides: "I told Salvini that I wanted him in my government and that I respect him very much." So he recited in the press conference, where, however, he was careful not to keep him at his side. It happened on April 8, but it seems like a century has gone by. Now the burden has become unbearable. It is not a question of image, but of substance: the flower of the Lucan communist youth, former pupil of Sergio Mattarella, and today only of Pier Luigi Bersani (among the living) and Joseph Stalin (among the deceased), coincides in the eyes of the people with the unfortunate management of the pandemic. The wreck of the Conte government would still have been restorable except that a grave aggravating circumstance is added to the clear unpreparedness: the fact of having surrounded himself with a crew of collaborators who knowingly concealed the truth, falsifying and deleting a team's WHO report of scientists from Venice on the very serious errors of his ministry that have aggravated the death toll. The investigation by the Bergamo prosecutor is devastating. Did he know or did he not know, Hope? I personally opt for the no. But this is a dilemma that concerns his morality, but whoever has sold stuff prepared for him by his trusted advisors must say hello to everyone, or at least politely move away. Otherwise? It is not that only a government is going to the bottom, but Italy is shipwrecked in mistrust.

What emerges is that it makes the presence of such a minister incompatible in a government that is based on a majority where the center-right is decisive. We have to quote a book by Roberto Speranza that is not there but unfortunately exists. I'm talking about the volume Why we will heal, from the hardest days to a new idea of health (Feltrinelli. 226 pages) never released in Italy but on sale through Amazon in France and Spain (but also on eBay in Italy at the exorbitant price of about 50 euros because it is a "very rare book"). Alongside pathetic pages, as a boy on the Paal street, there are statements that are very acceptable in a liberal democracy, that is pure communism, the demand for a cynical strategy in order to get to power and so on. But not when it passes from word to government action. What's the problem? He candidly declares that his job as a minister is a ride on the horse of the pandemic to lead the people to the land where the Italians will finally live in the paradise sought in vain by Gramsci, Togliatti and perhaps D'Alema. Not that he writes this confession apertis verbis. It is an ideological filigree that is perfectly identifiable in the manifest satisfaction of instituting the lockdown everywhere and in any case and the red areas not so much for reasons of physical health but as a pedagogy for the people, so as to teach them to submit to the ukaz of the central power. The pure manipulative essence of the yellow-red government lies entirely in this sentence: "The Italians could not be left to think that there were regions where people lived better." With one like this you fight against. We do not govern together. Impossible.

The fact is that there are pages where dissimulation disappears with enthusiasm. When he writes this book, in the summer of 2020, Speranza is convinced that in "a few months" we can return to normal. But not the old normal, but - thanks to this left-M5S alliance - a new normal. After all, the pandemic brings with it the dawn of another world. It seems to hear a symphony by Shostakovich at the Bolshoi in Moscow with the Great Helmsman with the mustache drenched in tears. Thanks pandemic, which "has cleared a very fertile political ground for the left", a time in which «after so many years against the wind for the left there is a new possibility of rebuilding a cultural hegemony on a new basis». I mention Stalin for the third time, and I apologize to the old Georgian, but it touches me. Speranza, by changing the terms so as not to stumble into the censorship of politically correct, restores the great scrutiny of "social origin" as a criterion for selecting the ruling class in the USSR, and soon on these screens. Not merit, but "pure proletarian origin". The proletarians are no longer there, but we try. In the Conte 2 government, writes Speranza, "no one is a child of the establishment, in the biographies of many of us there is a true popular connotation". Since now Draghi has arrived, who we would say to be quite establishment, perhaps out of coherence and modesty, he should give himself to a certain clandestinity. And let the pandemic ride to those who simply want to kill it rather than thank it. And if he doesn't do it himself, what was Stalin doing? The purge
