Biggs asks Biden to suspend John Kerry’s security clearance

After calls for former Secretary of State and Biden administration official John Kerry’s resignation continue, Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) penned a letter on Tuesday to President Biden, demanding that he suspend Kerry’s security clearance. This comes after the reported revelation that Kerry knew about covert Israeli attacks in Syria.

The Arizona congressman called for the suspension until a full investigation can be completed. “I urge you to immediately suspend Special Envoy John Kerry’s security clearance and prevent him from participating in any classified briefings until the full nature of his interactions with the Islamic Republic of Iran are investigated,” Biggs wrote.

“If Mr. Kerry provided sensitive information to Iran about Israel’s activities in Syria, he undermined a friend and bolstered an enemy,” Biggs wrote. “At best, such behavior would be despicable; at worst, it would verge on treason.”

Since the news broke, Biden has remained silent on the issue and Kerry denies the report. But Biggs demands action.

“For the sake of national security, I again urge you to act immediately in this matter,” he wrote.

FRENCH fishing boats have finally retreated from Jersey, but warned "next time there will be war" as the Royal Navy was called to the blockade by 100 ships.

Angry French fishermen set off flares as dozens of boats began steaming in just after 6am as the huge row over post-Brexit fishing rights intensifies.

Two Royal Navy gunships - HMS Severn and HMS Tamar - dramatically stepped in this morning after being deployed by Boris Johnson following the threat of a French blockade.

They are armed with a 20mm cannon, which can fire 700 rounds a minute at a range of 1,300 yards.

Just after 1pm the fishing boats started to retreat away from the island - just 14 miles off the French coast.

But defiant French fishermen issued a call to arms and vowed to return.

WAR CRY

A crewman called Popeye told The Telegraph: "We will go back, and next time it will be war."

Tense video footage from earlier in the day showed one of the Royal Navy gunships keeping watch and patrolling the harbour as French vessels protest near the capital Saint Helier.

Emmanuel Macron then sent Navy patrol vessel Athos to the island in a dramatic twist.

He said there had been rumblings about a planned protest a few days ago but he had not been sure if it was “serious or empty threats”.

He added: “The French being the French, they don’t mess around. They can blockade their own harbours – they wouldn’t think twice about coming and doing it to us.”

Mr Dearing said he was “absolutely” pleased to hear on Wednesday night that Royal Navy vessels were being deployed to patrol the waters around Jersey.

He said: “We’re completely unprotected in Jersey. We’ve got nothing except for a few police officers. We don’t have a police boat, we don’t have a navy boat, we don’t have anything to protect us.

“The French can be hostile. All of our livelihoods are in that harbour and if they wanted to they could cause damage.”

Boris' dramatic move came after French fishermen - backed by Emmanuel Macron’s ministers - vowed to shut off the island unless they could fish more British waters, a threat branded an "act of war".

The furious spat erupted after the island - which is under Britain's protection - slapped French trawlers with post-Brexit fishing licence requirements.

Following today's blockade, UK ministers are now said to be drawing up plans to "retaliate" by reviewing energy links with France.

According to the Telegraph, Britain could buy electricity from the Netherlands instead.

Meanwhile, government sources have accused the French of sinking lower than the island's Nazi occupiers in the Second World War.

A source told the Telegraph: "At least when the Germans invaded they kept the lights on."

Meanwhile, French fishing industry leader David Sellam accused the Jersey authorities of being lead "by extremists".

He said: "All they want is to see the French fishing effort reduced and they profit from Brexit.

"If we want peace, let's prepare for war… If we want to bring the Jersey fishery to its knees, we can do it."

The furious cross-Channel bust-up escalated after one of Macron's key allies threatened to pull the plug on the tiny island's electricity and French fisherman vowed to blockade ports to cut off food and medicine.

77-year-old widow of High Court judge goes on trial charged with historical sexual abuse of boy under 12

The widow of a High Court judge has gone on trial charged with the historical sexual abuse of a young boy in the 1980s.

Lady Lavinia Nourse of Newmarket in Suffolk, was married to Sir Martin Nourse, who died in 2017 aged 85.

The 77-year-old has gone on trial at Peterborough’s Nightingale court, in the Knight’s Chamber at the city’s cathedral, where she denies 17 counts of sexually abusing a boy under the age of 12.

The charges, which all relate to the same male complainant, are five counts of indecently assaulting a boy and 12 counts of indecency with a child.

Jennifer Knight QC, prosecuting, said the boy had “never told anyone” about what Lady Lavinia did to him.

“He tried to bury away the memories and not to think about them.”

She said that, years later, after the complainant got married and had children, he “became increasingly troubled by his recollection”.

Ms Knight said the complainant told his wife what had happened to him and later reported his allegations to police, with Lady Lavinia first interviewed by officers in 2019.

The defendant claims that the alleged incidents of abuse did not happen, Ms Knight said.

The trial continues.

China has used 'army' of fake Twitter accounts to amplify message on social media platform, report

Chinese diplomats receive thousands of shares on Twitter for anti-West propaganda posts.

China's ruling Communist Party has used tens-of-thousands of fake Twitter accounts to push pro-government, anti-Western rhetoric on the social media site, according to findings of a joint analysis released Tuesday.

The analysis was conducted by the Associated Press and the Oxford Internet Institute, a department at Oxford University. It started as early as late-2019 and concluded last year. The analysis found at least 26,879 fake Twitter accounts that "liked" and shared over 200,000 post by Chinese media and diplomats before they were removed by the social media platform.

Liu Xiaoming, the former Chinese ambassador to the United Kingdom, is one of the Chinese Communist Party's best social media manipulators, according to wire service.

Since joining Twitter in 2019, Liu amassed more than 119,000 followers, many of which were really fake accounts impersonating Western people that "liked" and retweet his posts.

Liu calls the strategy "wolf warrior" diplomacy, named after a popular blockbuster movie in China.

"As I see it, there are so-called 'wolf warriors' because there are ‘wolfs’ in the world, and you need warriors to fight them," he said.

From June through February of last year, Liu's posts were retweeted 43,000 times, but roughly half of the retweets came from accounts suspended by Twitter. So far, 189 Chinese diplomats and officials have copied Liu's strategy, using thousands of fake accounts to spread Chinese rhetoric online, the analysis also found.
