In what should have been a national headline, the exposure of the U.S. government’s involvement in trafficking aborted baby bodies is now even more newsworthy following Friday’s announcement from the White House. At President Biden’s direction, the Department of Health and Human Services reversed the Trump administration’s policy protecting preborn Americans from the callous dehumanization of organ harvesting and further desecration of their bodies in research disguised as “science.”

This sickening decision now gives license to our “best and brightest” government researchers and agencies, those in charge of steering the country towards medical breakthroughs and scientific progress, to use the skin, brains, and eyeballs of children in research that affects all of us and is funded by our money. For this very reason, we must know the full extent of how federal agencies traffic aborted baby body parts.

These top 10 shocking examples come from the latest emails uncovered by Judicial Watch’s FOIA request and recent investigations.

1. The FDA Paid $2,000 Per Baby

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration paid an estimated $2,000 per individual baby, at times adding up to $12,000 per box of harvested organs.

Email records confirm the FDA agreed to pre-pay Advanced Bioscience Resources (ABR), likely the country’s largest fetal tissue trafficking firm, an estimated $2,000 for each aborted child, adding up to $12,000 per average box of tissue with shipping and packaging fees.

2. FDA Bought Organs of Dismembered Babies

The FDA bought organs like livers, brains, and eyeballs of dismembered babies for hundreds of dollars apiece, courtesy of ABR’s collusion with local Planned Parenthoods.

ABR fee schedules and pricing charts obtained during a U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee Investigation allow us to piece together how much a baby costs by body part, as if each child was a slaughtered animal sold in sections.

3. ABR Sold the Skin of a 21-Week-Old Down Syndrome Baby

FDA’s purchases were calculated according to ABR’s current “Fees for Services Schedule,” which maintained the same prices for all buyers. One procurement log records the sale of a 21-week old baby with Down Syndrome. This child’s limbs, organs, and skin were sold at hundreds of dollars apiece. ABR made $2,600 in total from the sale of this baby.

Whether or not the FDA itself purchased any of this tissue, the fact it entered a contract with a company that makes money off of selling the body parts of children with Down Syndrome is beyond inhumane.

It’s worth looking closely at this chart to see the level of dehumanization inflicted on this child. Each baby (“specimen”) is given a number (“No. xxx602”) and its individual body parts are sold to different customers. A 21-week old child who could have survived outside of the womb becomes just another statistic.

DOJ launching Louisville police investigation, second 'pattern or practice' probe under Biden

Garland announced a similar probe in Minneapolis last week

Attorney General Merrick Garland announced that the Justice Department is launching an investigation into the Louisville-Jefferson County Metro Government and the Louisville Police Department.

Garland said during a brief address Monday afternoon that the DOJ will be conducting a "pattern or practice" investigation into the Kentucky city's police, one year after Breonna Taylor died after being shot by a Louisville officer in her apartment who were executing a search warrant.

"It will determine whether LMPD engages in unconstitutional stops, searches and seizures, as well as whether the department unlawfully executes search warrants on private homes," Garland said.

The probe comes as Louisville has seen a surge of violent crime. According to police statistics, murders, rapes, and robberies were up more than 81% above the five-year averages in January and February. This followed a 2020 where police retirements and resignations were at a five-year high after Taylor's death. Approximately 15% of the police force left during that time.

Accompanied by newly-confirmed Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco and Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta, Garland stated that the investigation will look into whether Lousiville police engage in "discriminatory conduct on the basis of race," as part of what will be a "comprehensive review" of the department's policies and practices.

This is the second such invesitgation that Garland will be announcing in the span of less than a week. On Wednesday, the attorney general announced a similar investigation of the Minneapolis Police Department following the murder conviction of former officer Derek Chauvin for the death of George Floyd.

Garland noted that the city of Louisville has already "taken some steps towards reform," including as part of a settlement with Taylor's family.

"We commend those measures and our investigation will take them into account," Garland said.

Similar probes were commonly used by the Obama administration, and as Garland noted when announcing the Minneapolis investigation have often resulted in consent decrees whereby police departments must comply with various measures to institute reforms regarding policies and practices.

The cities of Ferguson, Missouri and Baltimore entered into consent decrees under the Obama administration following the deaths of Michael Brown and Freddie Gray, respectively, despite neither situation resulting in police officers being found guilty of crimes. Chicago entered into a consent decree under the Trump administration in 2019.

Department of Education is stalling complaints against race, sex segregation, critics say

"It's now been 638 days since I filed a simple, straightforward Title IX complaint" against female-only program, professor says.

When the University of Denver hosted race-based gatherings for students, faculty and staff "to process the outcome" of the November election, a student filed a complaint with the Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights.

Christi Collins got a quick response from an enforcement attorney in OCR's Denver office, and they scheduled a phone call. Then the attorney asked to postpone, and disappeared for two months. Their last contact was Feb. 22.

"At this time, OCR is evaluating your complaint, and I apologize for the delay and inconvenience," Lori Welker wrote in the email, one of several communications Collins shared with Just the News. "I will be in touch when we have completed the evaluation."

Two months later, it's still unclear what action, if any, OCR has taken with regard to Collins' complaint. The University of Denver, which is private, told Just the News it has "not been notified of any investigation by OCR or the Department of Education."

The department and OCR Denver office didn't respond to queries. Welker ignored questions from Just the News, saying the Denver query had been forwarded to the D.C. press office.

According to a professor who says he's filed hundreds of civil rights complaints against university programs restricted by race and sex, this is par for the course with the Denver office.

"The Denver OCR is a notoriously bad actor, much worse than any other regional office from my experience (and others)," University of Michigan-Flint economist Mark Perry wrote in an email to Just the News.

The American Enterprise Institute scholar shared his own correspondence with the Denver office and D.C. headquarters all the way through last week, regarding a complaint that's nearly two years old.

"It's now been 638 days (21.3 months or 1.72 years) since I filed a simple, straightforward Title IX complaint vs. the University of Utah on July 17, 2019, for a single, single-sex, female-only program called Hi-Girls Engineering Abilities Realized," Perry wrote to multiple OCR officials April 15.

Regarding the handling of Collins' complaint, filed in the lame-duck Trump administration, Perry doesn't think the switchover to the Biden administration is responsible for its pace.

According to the most modest estimates, after two decades of confrontation, the Taliban control over 50 percent of the country’s territory and continue armed struggle with the government of Afghanistan. According to UN data, despite Al Qaeda’s diminished potential, this terrorist organisation still has its cells in 11 Afghan provinces. In conditions of NATO’s military presence, Afghanistan accommodates ISIS, a new global terrorist threat that now has around 4,000 militants in the country. They regularly perpetrate terrorist attacks, including those carried out in Kabul.

A deplorable situation has taken shape in the sphere of drug fighting. During NATO’s presence in Afghanistan, the area under opium poppy plantations has expanded more than 20-fold, to reach 163,000 ha in 2019. Afghanistan accounts for over 80 percent of the global opiates market. According to UN data, 24 out of the country’s 34 provinces produce narcotic drugs.

Despite multi-billion injections that exceed US allocations for postwar European economic rehabilitation under the Marshall Plan, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan remains one of the poorest Asian countries, with one of the highest worldwide corruption levels; and at least 33 percent of the country’s economically active population is unemployed.

Billions of dollars, allocated for training the personnel of Afghan law enforcement agencies, have been squandered. Ten years into the infamous campaign, the United States was forced to admit that there is no military solution to the Afghan problems. Tens of thousands of civilians have been killed or crippled during this period of time. Many of them became victims of indiscriminate NATO attacks that the Alliance cynically describes as collateral damage (this is what they call people!), and tens of thousands more were forced to flee Afghanistan in search of a peaceful life. So far, Afghans comprise one of the largest refugee groups seeking asylum in Europe.

While leaving the country, the United States and other NATO members promised to continue supporting Afghan law enforcement and security agencies. It is a big question whether they will manage to accomplish this because, over a period of the past 20 years, the Alliance has failed to establish combat-ready local law enforcement agencies capable of independently defending the country and maintaining law and order there.

Oscars Ratings Hit Record Low, Crash 58 Percent In One Year

For comparison, last year’s ceremony garnered a 5.3 rating in the key demographic and 23.6 million viewers per the night’s time-zone adjusted fast national charts. The Oscars in 2019 delivered a 7.7 rating in adults 18-49 and 29.6 million viewers. While up 12% from 2018, that viewership figure represented the second-smallest audience ever for an Academy Awards telecast at the time. 2018 delivered the previous smallest viewership tally with 26.5 million viewers.

Australian National Security Chief Urges Citizens to Protect ‘Precious Liberty’ Amid Row With China

Australia-China ties have been steadily worsening since PM Scott Morrison urged Beijing last year to allow an independent probe into the origins of the novel coronavirus, which was first registered in Wuhan, Hubei, in December 2019. It hit a raw nerve with the Chinese authorities at the time, leading to reciprocal economic sanctions.

Australian Home Affairs Secretary Michael Pezzullo said Australia should be ready for war amid ongoing tensions with China, and must do whatever it takes to protect “our precious liberty”.

“Today, as free nations again hear the beating drums and watch worryingly the militarisation of issues that we had, until recent years, thought unlikely to be catalysts for war, let us continue to search unceasingly for the chance for peace while bracing again, yet again, for the curse of war”, Pezzullo pointed out in his Anzac Day message on Sunday.

He admitted that waging wars might well be wrong, but “the greater folly is to wish away the curse by refusing to give it thought and attention, as if in so doing, war might leave us be, forgetting us perhaps”, as the minister put it, saying “the drums of war” sometimes beat faintly, and at times much louder.

Defence Minister Peter Dutton, for his part, drew the public’s attention to the military build-up in the Pacific, suggesting there is a “significant amount of (military) activity” there amid an “animosity” between Taiwan and China, with Beijing claiming the former is its territory under the "One China” policy.

According to Dutton, China has in recent time been clear about Taiwan:

“If you look at any of the rhetoric that is coming out of China, from spokesmen particularly in recent weeks and months in response to different suggestions that have been made, they have been very clear about that goal”, he told the ABC.

"For us, we want to make sure we continue to be a good neighbour in the region, that we work with our partners and with our allies, as nobody wants to see conflict between China and Taiwan or anywhere else".

According to a Newsweek report last week, Taiwan planned to launch one of its largest military drills, the annual Han Kuang exercise. Phase one of the exercise was supposed to include a computer simulation of a full-scale Chinese invasion, which Taiwan’s Armed Forces would train to resist. Phase two is reportedly scheduled for mid-July.

Australia's relationship with China, its top trading partner, started to significantly deteriorate in April last year, when Prime Minister Scott Morrison called for an independent inquiry into the origins of the coronavirus, which was first registered in Wuhan in the country's Hubei province in December 2019.

What is the Vaccine Confidence Project™?

Vaccine confidence concerns the belief that vaccination – and by extension the providers and range of private sector and political entities behind it – serves the best health interests of the public and its constituents. The Oxford English Dictionary defines confidence as “the mental attitude of trusting in or relying on a person or thing”. In light of that, we are not examining the well-studied domain of supply and access barriers to vaccination, but rather what is typically called the “demand” side of immunisation. However, our focus on confidence takes the “demand” rubric a step further than the more traditional notion of building demand through increasing knowledge and awareness of vaccines and immunisation to understanding what else drives confidence in vaccines, and the willingness to accept a vaccine, when supply, access and information are available. In other words, understanding vaccine confidence means understanding the more difficult belief-based, emotional, ideological and contextual factors whose influences often live outside an immunisation or even health programme but affect both confidence in and acceptance of vaccines.

VCP Mission

The purpose of the project is to monitor public confidence in immunisation programmes by building an information surveillance system for early detection of public concerns around vaccines; by applying a diagnostic tool to data collected to determine the risk level of public concerns in terms of their potential to disrupt vaccine programmes; and, finally, to provide analysis and guidance for early response and engagement with the public to ensure sustained confidence in vaccines and immunisation. This initiative also defines a Vaccine Confidence Index™ (VCI) as a tool for mapping confidence globally.

The VCI is a measure, based on a select number of factors identified from extensive analysis of areas of both low and high vaccine coverage. This index is useful for informing the design of immunisation programmes and strategies and understanding more explicitly where to target both human and financial resources, which will allow for more efficiency. The VCI is an important tool for routine immunisation as well as the introduction of new and underutilised vaccines. Further information is available on our research page.

Despite the historic success of immunisation in reducing the burden of childhood illness and death, episodes of public concerns and rumours around vaccines have occurred around the world, spreading quickly and sometimes seriously eroding public confidence in immunisation and ultimately leading to vaccine refusals and disease outbreaks.

Although reports of public concerns and questions around the safety and relevance of vaccines have been on the increase, aside from monitoring of adverse events following immunisation (AEFI), there is neither a systematic monitoring of broader public vaccine concerns nor a tool to assess risk levels of rumours and concerns to potential programme disruptions, vaccine refusals and potential disease outbreaks.

This project seeks to address these unmet needs and monitor public confidence in immunisation programs by listening for early signals of public distrust and questioning and providing risk analysis and guidance to engage the public early and pre-empting potential programme disruptions.

Supreme Court Seems Primed to Reverse Kamala Harris's Attack on Free Speech

On Monday, the Supreme Court heard arguments in the key First Amendment case Americans for Prosperity v. Rodriguez, which centers on the State of California’s requirement that nonprofit organizations disclose their donor information to the state. Back in 2015, then-Attorney General Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) demanded that two conservative nonprofits, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) and the Thomas More Law Center (TMLC), hand over their donor lists. This demand threatened to reveal the identity of donors, potentially subjecting them to threats and harassment.

Legal representatives for AFP and TMLC said the Supreme Court justices’ questions and remarks suggested they are likely to strike down California’s requirement as an unconstitutional violation of the First Amendment.

“The justices appreciated very well that membership and donations to an organization are protected by a right to privacy in association, not just a right to associate,” Kathleen Sullivan, legal counsel for Americans for Prosperity Foundation, said on a press call after the oral arguments on Monday.

She noted that the justices cited many friend-of-the-court briefs written by ideological opponents of AFP and TMLC that nonetheless support these conservative organization’s rights to donor anonymity. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), and the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) proved particularly noteworthy in this regard.

Many of the justices cited the key legal precedent NAACP v. Alabama (1958), in which the Supreme Court struck down Alabama’s order that the NAACP hand over a list of its members. Alabama issued this order during the era of segregation when the Ku Klux Klan held tremendous power in the state. The Court rightly upheld the NAACP’s organizational privacy.

“In particular, the justices seem to understand that what is not controversial today may be controversial tomorrow,” and that views that are now commonly-held were controversial in the past, Sullivan noted.

The justices also grasped the inherent “paradox” of requiring “an organization that is fearful that its donors may be chilled” to “come forward to the government and apply for an exemption.”

John Bursch, legal counsel at Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) and a lawyer for TMLC, cited specific statements or questions that the justices made during oral arguments.

He noted that Justice Neil Gorsuch suggested that a ruling for California might allow the government to demand the addresses of donors that nonprofits use when they send out Christmas cards. Justice Brett Kavanaugh cited the fact that the ACLU, the NAACP, and HRC came forward in opposition to Kamala Harris’s donor disclosure mandate.

Justice Clarence “Thomas explained that the government used confidential census data information to locate Japanese citizens for internment,” Bursch noted. “Sotomayor noted that donors may not have faith in California” because the state had leaked the records of more than 1,700 donors.

14 Russians Targeted in UK’s New Anti-Corruption Sanctions

Earlier in the day, British foreign secretary Dominic Raab outlined updated UK policies pertaining to its fight against illegal schemes around the world.

A total of 14 Russian nationals have been targeted in Britain's new list of international anti-corruption sanctions, the Foreign Office announced on its website. The newly updated document also contains citizens of other countries, the ministry's website reads.

Among those who have been named are officials, businessmen, and bank owners who, as claimed by the UK Foreign Office, were involved in a corruption scheme which misappropriated $230 million of state property in December 2007.

Earlier on Monday, UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab outlined a number of rules to parliament with regards to international anti-corruption sanctions.

Essentially, London is set to wage a war against corruption schemes around the world by freezing the assets of those it considers to be involved in them, and banning the people concerned from entering the UK and channelling money through the country.

The foreign secretary vowed thereby to stop corrupt individuals using the UK as a safe haven for dirty money.

The global anti-corruption sanction list closely followed the global human rights sanctions regime introduced in July 2020, which has resulted in the UK imposing economic restrictions on 78 individuals and entities involved in what the UK sees as serious human rights violations, including those from Myanmar, Belarus, China and Russia.

After London added three Russian nationals and one unit of the Russian National Guard to the sanctions list over purported "egregious human rights violations" on 10 December, Moscow hit back saying it reserved the right to respond in kind, dubbing the move a political "demarche".

China Applauds Return of NBA, Urges It to ‘Undertake Lobbying’ for China in U.S.

China’s state-run Global Times on Sunday touted the participation of the U.S. National Basketball Association (NBA) at China’s first International Consumer Products Expo, scheduled for May 7-10 in the city of Haikou. The Chinese paper suggested the NBA should “undertake a certain amount of lobbying within the U.S.” on Beijing’s behalf to repay its hosts for their generosity.

The Global Times said the event will give the NBA an opportunity to repair its relationship with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) after Houston Rockets manager Daryl Morey expressed support for the Hong Kong democracy movement in 2019.

China’s state-run CCTV stopped carrying Houston Rockets games after Morey’s comments, the Chinese Basketball Association suspended cooperation with the team, and Chinese e-commerce giants blocked users from searching for Rockets merchandise. Morey stepped down as Rockets general manager in October 2020, prompting CCTV to warn that other American sports teams that “hurt the feelings of the Chinese people will have to pay a price” as well.

Yao Ming, president of the Chinese Basketball Association and NBA hall-of-famer, said on Saturday that communication is the key to resolving misunderstandings and biases.

“I think communication is the only way,” Yao said on Saturday in an event commemorating the 50th anniversary of the ping-pong diplomacy that ultimately saw the Cold War-era rivalry thaw. Yao believed misunderstanding is simply natural as people live in different countries and regions. “But where it exists, it calls for us to have more platforms to communicate to break through misunderstandings.”

Adam Silver, commissioner of the NBA, also expressed similar expectations of relations between the league and its millions of fans in China, calling for deeper understanding.

“My personal feeling is when I look at the mission of the NBA, which is to improve people’s lives through basketball, I think continuing to operate in China is completely consistent with our mission,” Silver said in an interview with NBC earlier in April.

The Global Times obsessively compared these offers of cooperation from the NBA to “ping-pong diplomacy,” the ostensible thawing of U.S.-China relations in the 1970s through table tennis championships. The Chinese government sponsored a ceremony to commemorate ping-pong diplomacy and recommend it as a model for restoring relations between Washington and Beijing today.

Silver said in an April 8 radio interview that the NBA has a “complicated” relationship with China.

“Ultimately we’re an export business. We export American basketball to China, and I would say what comes with it is American culture as well, and that, you know, my personal feeling is when I look at the mission of the NBA, which is to improve people’s lives through basketball, I think continuing to operate in China is completely consistent with our mission,” Silver told SiriusXM host and Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzweski.

Silver persisted in believing basketball exports were a form of “soft power” that might someday liberalize authoritarian China.

“I also think frankly, the future of the world depends on these two superpowers, the U.S. and China figuring out a way to work with each other. It doesn’t mean we don’t speak up about what we see are, you know, things in China that are inconsistent with our values, you know, and that we don’t continue to support players’ ability to speak out on things that are important to them,” Silver added.

The triumphant Global Times editorial on Sunday suggests the CCP is not worried about the NBA exerting any “soft power,” or speaking up about China’s human rights abuses and creating any more “misunderstandings” that might threaten the NBA’s ability to export its very lucrative product to China’s politically controlled markets.

No, SOCCENT Twitter wasn’t hacked as the command initially said

Special Operations Command Central now says a curious tweet on its official account was not a hack, as it initially reported on social media.

U.S. Special Operations Command Central “acknowledges a misleading post to our official Twitter account on April 24, 2021,” Army Maj. Tony Hoefler, a SOCCENT spokesman, told Military Times. “The post contained three words, “Afghanistan” “Islamic State,” in quotation marks. After review, it was determined our Twitter account was not hacked and a social media administrator inadvertently tweeted the words while conducting a search for current topical events.”

Hoefler said SOCCENT officials are now “reviewing our internal processes to refine our social media practices. No security breach took place and we apologize for any confusion this may have caused.”

Saturday morning, however, SOCCENT took to Twitter to say its site had been hacked.

The SOCCENT Twitter flub was the latest in a series of military social media foibles.

In March, a tweet issued on the official page of the U.S. military command in charge of the nation’s nuclear arsenal had many on social media confused and concerned.

What did a tweet that read “;l;;gmlxzssaw,” mean? Had the account of the U.S. Strategic Command, headquartered at Offutt Air Force Base south of Omaha, been hacked?

Within 10 minutes of launch, the tweet drew at least 12,400 “likes,” 9,000 retweets and lots of snark and speculation, the Omaha World-Herald reported. A half-hour later, a follow-up tweet apologized for the confusion and advised followers to disregard the previous nonsensical tweet. Then the mystery tweet disappeared.

“Should we be ducking and covering now?” one person responded.

STRATCOM officials provided the answer a day later: The tweet came from a rogue toddler.

In a statement issued March 29, STRATCOM said the person who manages the command’s Twitter account was working from home when he briefly stepped away from his computer while the account was open. That’s when his child sat down to play on the keyboard and managed to hit “send.”

“Absolutely nothing nefarious occurred; i.e., no hacking of our Twitter account,” STRATCOM spokeswoman Karen Singer said in the statement.

Last October, an authorized user who had access to the Fort Bragg garrison Twitter account came forward as the person who sent sexually charged tweets, according to a statement from the North Carolina military post.

The statement reversed Fort Bragg’s earlier stance, when post officials said the garrison had “ruled out any malicious intent” by its public affairs officials and characterized the incident as a “hack,” possibly by someone who had guessed their password.

The North Carolina city where a black man was fatally shot by officers during the execution of a search warrant Wednesday is under a state of emergency ahead of the release of bodycam footage, authorities announced.

Elizabeth City was put into a state of emergency Monday as the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s office is expected to release the bodycam footage showing the fatal police shooting of Andrew Brown Jr.

“It is also our understanding that numerous news media outlets have taken steps to secure a court order directing the Sheriff’s office to release those tapes,” the city said in a statement.

“City officials realize there may potentially be a period of civil unrest within the City following the public release of that footage.”

The state of emergency went into effect at 8:00 a.m. and will remain in effect until the city deems it “no longer necessary to protect our citizens from any such threat to their safety.”

The Elizabeth County Pasquotank Public Schools said the district will “operate on a full remote schedule for all students and staff through April 30, 2021.”

Pasquotank County Sheriff Tommy Wooten II said on Saturday he would file a motion in court as early as Monday to ask a local judge to release the video.

“Only a judge can release the video. That’s why I’ve asked the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation to confirm for me that the releasing of the video will not undermine their investigation,” Wooten said. “Once I get that confirmation, our county will file a motion in court, hopefully, Monday, to have the footage released.”

Brown’s family will review the footage Monday before its public release, according to WAVY 10.

Priest in Denmark accused of killing wife after disturbing internet searches found on computer

A Lutheran priest in Denmark has been accused of killing his missing wife after internet searches for “sea depth,” “disappeared” and “oil barrels” were uncovered on the couple’s computer, prosecutors said Monday.

Thomas Gotthard, 44, was charged with murdering his wife, Maria From Jakobsen, after the court found the evidence to be “sufficiently weighty to be able to prosecute,” Prosecutor Anne-Mette Seerup said.

Gotthard has claimed that his wife, a 43-year-old psychologist, was in a depressed state when she vanished from the couple’s home in Frederikssund on Oct. 26.

She had left her phone, computer and credit cards behind, police said.

When she didn’t show up to one of her two kids’ birthday parties three days later, her sister reported her missing.

Investigators later found hydrochloric acid and caustic soda in the couple’s home as well as internet searches on their computer for terms such as, “sea depth,” “oil barrels,” “suicide,” “disappeared” and “cleaning.”

Surveillance footage from Nov. 6 at a recycling station showed Gotthard moving a large barrel on a hand truck.

Investigators carried out extensive searches, including with trained dogs, but have been unable to locate the missing woman.

Three weeks after his wife’s disappearance, the priest was arrested in connection to the case.

Gotthard, who maintains his innocence, is being held in custody and is set to go on trial Oct. 25.

Texas man who produced thousands of images of child porn is sentenced

HOUSTON – A 41-year-old Houston-area man has been ordered to federal prison for 40 years after producing videos of his sexual abuse of a minor, possession of child pornography, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Jennifer B. Lowery.

Miguel Rivera pleaded guilty Oct. 30, 2020, to production, receipt and possession of child pornography.

On Friday, U.S. District Judge Charles Eskridge ordered him to serve a 480-month sentence. The court also heard additional information including a statement from the victim detailing how Rivera’s heinous acts affected her childhood and to this day. Court documents did not reveal the relation between the victim and Rivera.

Rivera will serve the rest of his life on supervised release following completion of his prison term, during which time he will have to comply with numerous requirements designed to restrict his access to children and the internet. He will also be ordered to register as a sex offender.

In June 2019, law enforcement located an IP address with a folder containing child pornography using a publicly available peer-to-peer file-sharing network. The IP address was linked to Rivera and his residence.

Forensic analysis resulted in the discovery of 56,250 images of child pornography on his electronic devices. Approximately 412 videos were over five minutes in length, the longest of which was nearly an hour.

Rivera also produced 3,200 images and over 160 videos of sexually abusing a minor while the child was unconscious.

He admitted he had been downloading child pornography for at least a decade.

China says Australia must stick to 'One China' policy after Peter Dutton warns of conflict over Taiwan independence

China has responded to comments by Defence Minister Peter Dutton, saying adherence to its "One China" policy is a "prerequisite" for the development of Australia-China relations.

At a daily news briefing, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said China sought "peaceful reunification," and urged Australia to "fully understand the high sensitivity of the Taiwan issue".

The Chinese government regards Taiwan as a renegade province that should be united with mainland China.

"We hope that Australia will fully understand the high sensitivity of the Taiwan issue, adhere to the One China principle, be cautious in its words and actions, refrain from sending any wrong signals to the secessionist forces of Taiwan independence," Mr Wang said.

Mr Wang also called on Canberra to "stop interfering with normal exchanges and cooperation between the two countries," as Mr Dutton warned of further acts on China-related deals.

Foreign Minister Marise Payne is reviewing more than a 1,000 China-related deals, including a 99-year lease on the Port of Darwin.

"If it's not in our national interest, then obviously she'll act," Mr Dutton said.

Australia cancelled two infrastructure deals negotiated with China by the Victorian government last week , adding to strains in relations that are at a multi-decade low after Beijing blocked imports of coal and other goods from Australia in retaliation for its call to investigate the origins of the coronavirus pandemic.

Separately, in an Anzac Day message to staff, one of Australia's most powerful national security figures warned that free nations "again hear the beating drums of war" as military tensions rise in the Indo-Pacific.

Home Affairs Department Secretary Mike Pezzullo warned that the nation must strive to reduce the likelihood of war, but be prepared to "send off, yet again, our warriors to fight".

Mr Pezzullo is expected to follow Mr Dutton from Home Affairs to the Department of Defence.

5-year NSW Police investigation into Hillsong’s Brian Houston covering up for his paedophile father continues. Why 5 years?

After 5 years the NSW police told me on Friday (23-4-21) that they are still investigating Brian Houston for the cover-up of his father’s sexual abuse of children and on Tuesday Prime Minister Scott Morrison was on stage on the Gold Coast, with 2 of Brian Houston’s alleged accomplices, helping promote the fraud scam that is known as Pentecostal Churches. It is disturbing that none of the old media reported Scott Morrison’s trip to the Gold Coast on Tuesday even though it was apparently paid for by taxpayers.

Scott Morrison has been lying about his knowledge of the police investigation into Brian Houston since at least 2019 and denied in an interview in March 2020 that he knew that Brian Houston was under police investigation when he tried to take Houston to the White House on a government visit in September 2019. But how does Scott Morrison justify being on stage this week with 2 of Brian Houston’s alleged accomplices? Does Scott Morrison claim to still know nothing?

The NSW Police have been investigating Brian Houston since 2016 which means they have been investigating for at least 5 years and it is a blatant police cover-up on the instructions of NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller. The police stopped the investigation for a while but in November 2018 they started investigating again after a 60 Minutes report on Channel 9 embarrassed the police so the police said they had new evidence and re-opened the investigation which has never gone anywhere.

I have been reporting this matter for a few years and the longer it goes on the more blatant the cover-up by the NSW Police becomes which is now at least in part to protect Prime Minister Scott Morrison although the cover-up started before he was Prime Minister.

Why didn’t Nine follow up with the police as I did? Maybe it is because Nine’s Chairman is former federal treasurer Peter Costello who is also a mentor to Scott Morrison and who has also led prayers at the Hillsong annual conference. Proof That Twitter's Censorship Of Big-Pharma Critics Is A Global Phenomenon

On Saturday, Twitter admitted that it is actively working with the Indian government to censor criticism of its handling of the pandemic as the number of cases and deaths continues to skyrocket. There are widespread reports that the Indian government has misrepresented the number of deaths and the true rate of cases could be as much as 30 times higher than reported. The country has a shortage of beds, oxygen, and other essentials due to a failure to adequately prepare for a new surge. Not surprisingly, the Indian government has moved to crackdown on criticism. This included a call to Twitter to censor such information and Twitter has, of course, complied. With the support of many Democratic leaders in the United States, Twitter now regularly censors viewpoints in the United States and India had no trouble in enlisting it to crackdown on those raising the alarm over the government handling of the crisis.

Buried in an Associated Press story on the raging pandemic and failures of the Indian government are these two lines:

“On Saturday, Twitter complied with the government’s request and prevented people in India from viewing more than 50 tweets that appeared to criticize the administration’s handling of the pandemic. The targeted posts include tweets from opposition ministers critical of Modi, journalists and ordinary Indians.”

The article quotes Twitter as saying that it had the power to “withhold access to the content in India only” if the company determined the content to be “illegal in a particular jurisdiction.” Thus, criticism of the government in this context is illegal so Twitter has agreed to become an arm of the government in censoring information.

Keep in mind that that some of this information could be true and actually protect lives. It is not “fake news” but efforts by journalists and others to disclose failures by the government that could cost hundreds of thousands of lives. Twitter’s policy states:

Content that is demonstrably false or misleading and may lead to significant risk of harm (such as increased exposure to the virus, or adverse effects on public health systems) may not be shared on Twitter. This includes sharing content that may mislead people about the nature of the COVID-19 virus; the efficacy and/or safety of preventative measures, treatments, or other precautions to mitigate or treat the disease; official regulations, restrictions, or exemptions pertaining to health advisories; or the prevalence of the virus or risk of infection or death associated with COVID-19. In one extraordinary moment on the tape that surfaced Sunday, Mr. Zarif departed from the reverential official line on Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani, the commander of the Guards’ elite Quds Force, the foreign-facing arm of Iran’s security apparatus, who was killed by the United States in January 2020.

The general, Mr. Zarif said, undermined him at many steps, working with Russia to sabotage the nuclear deal between Iran and world powers and adopting policies toward Syria’s long war that damaged Iran’s interests.

If the Revolutionary Guard really 'calls the shots' and was against the nuclear deal why was it signed and sealed?

If Soleimani and/or Russia really wanted to 'sabotage the nuclear deal' why did it come into existence?

Russia by the way would have had no need to 'sabotage' the deal. It simply could have vetoed it during the negotiations or later at the UN Security Council.

Well - if your ally Syria is under attack from U.S. backed Al-Qaeda terrorists and your neighbor country Iraq gets overrun by the Islamic State there is little that diplomacy can achieve. Those are issues and moments where the military is needed before diplomacy can take over.

Zarif said he was shocked by John Kerry’s revelation that Israel had attacked Iranian targets in Syria over 200 times.

Jen Psaki’s response to this blockbuster reveal: “We’re not going to comment on leaked tapes.”

The leaked audio was obtained by The New York Times and other outlets and the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh effectively confirmed the leaked tape’s authenticity.

Czech Defense Ministry Says Vrbetice Warehouses Did Not Store Banned Weapons

The Czech Defense Ministry on Monday rejected reports that the warehouses in Vrbetice that blew up in 2014 stored illegal weaponry.

On Saturday, The New York Times reported that Bulgarian arms merchant Emilian Gebrev confirmed to the news outlet that he had supplied weapons to Kiev during the active phase of the conflict in eastern Ukraine and stored ammunition in Vrbetice warehouses. Later, Czech President Milos Zeman said that the investigation of the 2014 blasts confirmed that the arms stored in the depots belonged to the Bulgarian businessman. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, then challenged Prague to disclose what kind of weapons were stored in Vrbetice at the time.

"There are speculations that banned weapons were stored in Vrbetice. This is not true, which was confirmed by a court. The Czech Republic follows international agreements," the ministry said on Twitter.

On April 17, Prague announced that 18 Russian diplomats would be expelled from the country on suspicion of being officers of Russia's special services.

According to Prime Minister Andrej Babis, the reason for such a move is the suspicion that Russian military intelligence officers were involved in the 2014 explosion in Vrbetice, which killed two Czech nationals.

Moscow retaliated by expelling 20 Czech diplomats, prompting Prague to order more diplomats out of the country in response.

Biden Picks Harris To Lead New Pro-Union Task Force

With the success of "Nomadland" during last night's Oscars Ceremony (which nobody watched), the depredations facing American workers at the hands of Amazon are back in the headlines. Just weeks after workers at the company's Bessemer, Ala. fulfillment center, voted overwhelmingly against unionizing, the plant's workers are suing the NLRB alleging that Amazon "sabotaged" the vote.

As Democrats look to shore up organized labor, formerly a cornerstone of their political base, President Biden has just appointed VP Kamala Harris - who is also in charge of stage-managing the worsening border crisis on Biden's behalf - to lead a new pro-union task force that the president will create with the stroke of a pen on Monday. Biden is expected to sign an executive order creating a task force to promote labor organizing, which Harris will then lead.

The panel will have 180 days to meet with labor groups, academics and others to "generate recommendations" for how the White House can encourage worker organizing and determine whether new policies might be needed. The White House is billing its push as the most “comprehensive approach to determining how the executive branch can advance worker organizing and collective bargaining” by any recent administration.

According to Bloomberg, which broke the story, the order will direct the task force to propose new ways by which the federal government can encourage workers to organize and successfully bargain with employers.

Union membership has been declining for decades. Only 10.8% of American workers belonged to a union in 2020, down from more than 30% in the 1950s. And many of those are public employee unions like police unions (which have been rejected by the rest of the progressive American labor movement).

Harris will be aided by Labor Secretary Marty Walsh, who will join the task force, which will also include other cabinet-level officials and top domestic advisors from the West Wing.

The decision isn't exactly a surprise. In February, Biden recorded a video encouraging workers at Amazon's Bessemer plant to participate in the union vote (falsely assuming that most would vote in favor of organizing).

The White House also supports the Protecting the Rights to Organize Act, which would make it easier for employees in the services industry to unionize.

Of course, while empowering organized labor could help Democrats reward political constituencies, it likely won't help the economy, as William Landerson wrote in a recent piece from the Mises Institute.

Via criticizing writings by the NYT's Paul Krugman, Landerson lays out how the decline of unions has been associated with more competitive prices of goods, while also leading to more widespread employment gains. The reason for the decline in unions isn't "Ronald Reagan", as Krugman argues. And no matter what Biden does, it's unlikely that he will manage to make much, if any, difference in that arena.

The CBC reported that the plan came about after the group advising public health pressured the agency to "prioritize racialized, disabled and low-income residents."

NIH chief says it's time to stop 'finger wagging' at Americans hesitant about the COVID vaccine, admits his agency is not requiring employees to get shots

The director of the National Institutes of Health told NBC's "Meet the Press" Sunday that it's time to stop "finger wagging" at fellow Americans who are hesitant to get a COVID vaccine. He also admitted on air that he is not mandating that NIH employees get vaccinated.

There is an ongoing debate among Americans over whether or not to get a COVID-19 vaccine, as millions of citizens have indicated they are hesitant to get an injection because they feel the testing for the vaccinations is incomplete and they have health questions or concerns.

NIH Director Francis Collins told NBC's Chuck Todd on Sunday that though he hopes to convince fellow citizens to get vaccinated, he does think it's time for vaccine advocates to take a different approach.

Collins began by discussing the controversial pause — and subsequent restart — federal health officials recommended for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine over possible connections to blood clots among women. He said that he believes that everyone should have access to the information about possible risks regarding the vaccine and understand the "potential very rare side effect" so that everyone has the facts. Then he added that when one considers the minimal nature of the vaccine's risk and weighs it against the benefits of combatting COVID, it becomes clear that "the benefits greatly outweigh the risks, even for younger women."

With that context, Todd asked Collins about vaccine hesitancy — noting that according to a new NBC poll, 4% of Democrats and about 25% of Republicans say they won't get vaccinated — and what the NIH can do to help "depoliticize" the issue.

Collins indicated that instead of demonizing those with worries, health officials and commentators should try to listen to and understand Americans' concerns.

"If we're going to be able to put COVID-19 behind us, we need to have all Americans take part in getting us to that point," Collins answered. "I think maybe one of the things we can do is to change the conversation a little bit. I think maybe there's been too much finger wagging. I've done some of that. I'm going to try to stop and listen, in fact, to what people's specific questions are."

Politico: Most of the Kids Going Back to School Are White, and That's a Problem

As Americans cautiously emerge from our COVID-safe caves after a full year of tooth-grinding paranoia and panic — and as Democrats and their enablers do everything they can to distract us from the fact that Operation Warp Speed happened during the term of Bad Orange Man, which is just the reality whether you like him or not — some welcome signs of life are returning to our society. People are going back to restaurants and movie theaters and sporting events. Glenn Close can do “Da Butt” in a roomful of cheering onlookers during the Oscars, not alone in her mansion on a Zoom call. And to the relief of parents everywhere, kids are going back to school.

You probably thought kids returning to school was a good thing, didn’t you? You thought a return to normalcy was… well, normal. But I’ll bet you didn’t even realize that holding such a privileged opinion makes you a racist. You are a problem.

President Joe Biden is on the verge of meeting his 100-day pledge to press the majority of American schools into reopening for five days of weekly in-person instruction. But there’s a problem. Most of the kids returning to classes are white.

Minority students are most likely to be missing out on in-person learning, despite assurances of classroom safety under Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance and outreach by local and state school districts…

Eighty percent of public schools were open for at least some in-person learning by the end of February, according to a government survey, but an estimated 78 percent of Asian eighth-graders were learning in a fully remote environment. Nearly 60 percent of Black and Hispanic eighth-graders also learned at home full time.

That’s despite a White House-led push to inoculate millions of educators against Covid-19; the Biden administration’s close relationships with national teachers’ unions; a growing number of reopening schools and signs of public optimism about a return to normal classes this fall. A central concern is that families of color are choosing to opt out.

You see how that works? “Families of color” (all families are one color or another, and sometimes more than one color, but whatever) are opting out, and that’s why it’s bad that white kids are going back to school.

Somehow it’s the white kids’ fault. How does that work, exactly? Are white kids in charge of the teachers’ unions that have been dragging their feet on reopening? Are white kids making “parents of color” paranoid about sending their kids back to school? Can we just blame this whole thing on those evil white kids?

When I was a white kid in school, I had my hands full just trying to get through the day without getting shoved into a locker by another white kid. Nobody told me I was in charge of the whole system just because of the color of the skin I was born in.

Putting aside how stupid it is to blame white children for something they can’t control, 73% of the population of the U.S. is white. Most of the Americans doing any particular thing on any particular day are probably going to be white. That’s just how math works.

It’s not racist for white kids to go back to school. It’s not racist for white parents to want what’s best for their kids. White people are just like everybody else, ya know.

How is it that “anti-racism” always turns out to be super-racism? The people who scold us the loudest about bigotry are always the biggest bigots. And they only talk to each other, so they don’t realize how insane they sound to the rest of us.

Personally, I’m happy for all the kids who are going back to school. Even the white ones. I hope they grow up to be smarter than the people blaming them for everything.

Lawyer for Ashli Babbitt’s Family Announces Civil Action Will be Filed

Terry Robert's described Ashli's murder as "an egregious act of excessive force"

Terry Roberts, the attorney for the family of Ashli Babbitt, has announced they will be pursuing civil action in her case against the police officer who shot her in cold blood.

Roberts, the famed civil rights attorney who is currently representing Babbitt’s family, appeared on Newsmax on Monday, when he made the announcement regarding the pursuit of civil action. “The family and I were disappointed in the Department of Justice’s decision on this, but my role is really to bring a civil action and in that way, vindicate her rights,” Roberts said.

The Department of Justice announced earlier this month that they would not pursue charges against the Capitol Police officer who shot and killed Babbitt during the protests on Capitol Hill on January 6th this year. Babbitt, who was unarmed, was killed by the officer when climbing through a window. “Based on that investigation, officials determined that there is insufficient evidence to support a criminal prosecution,” the statement said at the time.

Roberts said on Friday that he and the family “strongly disagree” with the decision of the Department of Justice to not charge or even release the name of the officer involved. “We think that the evidence is ample and would support criminal charges against the officer,” Roberts said, saying that there was “no legal justification” for shooting Babbitt, and as she was unarmed, and did not present an “immediate threat”:

I don’t believe she even knew the officer was on the other side of the room. He’s off to her left, concealing himself in a room, so there’s no warning even before he shoots. This is a situation in which the officer could have easily arrested her if he had grounds to arrest her without using deadly force. So this was an egregious act of excessive force – he should have been charged.

Roberts said that there was a clear “double standard” when it came to the media coverage of Babbitt’s case. “If you were to change the circumstances, change the location a little bit, it’s a certainty that there would be charge,” Roberts said. “Obviously the political climate is such that charges are not favoured here. It really bothers us that there is a double standard at work,” he continued, adding that it “clearly has everything to do with” the fact that Babbitt supported President Trump.

Out of the originally reported five individuals whose death was linked to the protests on Capitol Hill, Babbitt is the only one whose death was ruled as a homicide by the D.C. Chief Medical Examiner. The most recent ruling was on the death of Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick, who the mainstream media had initially claimed was beaten to death with a fire extinguisher by “white supremacists” – his death was ruled as a result of natural causes, after he suffered two strokes cause by a blood clot in his brain stem.
