Like many cities in Ontario and across Canada, the residents of Cobourg gather to protest government-mandated COVID-19 restrictions.

A Northumberland News article that quoted Cobourg police Chief Paul Vandegraaf stating that excess law enforcement has resulted in approximately $8,000 in overtime for Cobourg police each weekend.

In the same article, the chief relays the sad story that ordering members of his force to cover the protests each week has taken an “emotional toll” on his officers.

To make matters more bizarre in Cobourg — in the before times coined “Ontario’s Feel Good Town,” but now more reminiscent of a “Fenced Off Town” — town council voted 4-3 to completely fence off the Victoria Park Beach, for the second consecutive year.

If ticketing people because they want to walk on the beach is causing police to have some sort of emotional distress then maybe they need to do some reevaluation on how they choose to enforce these regulations.

Wednesday evening in Edmonton, Alberta, 3,500 people rallied at the Alberta legislature against the COVID-19 lockdown measures.

Speakers from all across Canada and from all walks of life, including Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson, Mark Friesen and Chris Sky, told the enthusiastic crowd that ending the COVID-19 restrictions on freedoms and civil liberties begins with them and their peaceful resistance to public health regulations.

Mainstream media company received $6.2 million in Liberal bailout funds

A mainstream media company that once urged the federal government to bailout Canada’s failing news industry received $6.2 million in taxpayer funds from the Liberal government.

According to Blacklock’s Reporter, FP Newspapers Inc, which owns Winnipeg Free Press, the Brandon Sun and a number of other publications, received the sum in the form of pandemic wage subsidies and other media rebates.

In total the company received $6,204,000 in taxpayer funding, $5,382,999 of which was in the form of COVID-19 wage subsidies and $822,000 in the form of payroll rebates for newsroom employees.

When taking into account the company’s income, federal grants made up 54% of the business’ earnings.

“Despite the fact the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic remains unpredictable, we continue to identify and undertake cost reduction initiatives in an effort to address the underlying revenue declines in the legacy print business,” wrote the company in a Financial Statement.

Winnipeg Free Press’ publisher Bob Cox has been an early proponent of subsidizing Canada’s failing news media industry .

In 2020, Cox was one of the media executives chosen to sit on the $50 million Local Journalism Initiative judging panel which approved organizations for federal grants under the program.

Cox’s paper was among the outlets awarded grants to hire new reporters under the initiative.

According to records, Winnipeg’s Free Press saw an 8% decline in online ad revenue last year and a 27% drop in print ad revenue.

Additionally, FP Newspapers Inc. is not only cashing in on federal subsidies but has recently announced a partnership with Facebook to receive payment for the news content it hosts on the platform.

Under the arrangement, FP Newspapers and 13 other media outlets will be a part of a pilot endeavour where companies will receive an undisclosed amount of money for their content.

Everything wrong with journalism today can be summed up in one remarkable news story: the theory that COVID-19 leaked from a lab in China.

In the past seven days, this story has experienced an incredible 180 in terms of its credibility. After nearly 18 months of this theory being thoroughly discredited and debunked by all the fancy people in politics, the media and big tech, it is now suddenly a mainstream theory.

Let’s rewind all the way back to January 2020, when the very first case of the coronavirus was reported in Canada. At the time, COVID-19 was still very much a local story in China. We began seeing images online of brutality in dealing with those infected and the despicably common practice of Chinese journalists and whistle-blowers simply “disappearing.”

The narrative coming out of Communist China was that this mysterious new virus originated in a wet market. At the time, I noted the obvious fact that Wuhan is the location of China’s only high-security infectious disease laboratory, the Wuhan Institute for Virology. I thought it was obvious, anyway.

I raised simple questions about this controversial lab, known for lax safety standards and studying dangerous diseases, which was located a mere 300 yards from the wet market where Patient Zero was infected.

Isn’t that suspicious? You would assume that scientists, researchers and journalists all over the world would begin examining this link.

China, after all, is run by an adversarial communist dictatorship known for lying and covering up inconvenient facts. Surely enlightened thinkers in the West would question their narrative and try to poke holes in their theory.

Imagine my surprise, then, when the entirety of the mainstream media — in Canada, the U.S. and around the world — completely ignored this link. Worse, there was a campaign to malign and discredit anyone raising questions about the controversial Wuhan lab.

The media brigade in Canada systematically began “debunking” this theory. Smug journalists wrote stories dismissing the lab leak theory as “nonsense”, “disinformation” and a “hoax.”

These journalists, who have been proven utterly wrong by the recent swing in the narrative, do not admit their errors. Instead, they try to ensure their readers they were right all along.

At this point, you may be thinking to yourself: these aren’t journalists.

Journalists ask questions, examine links and act skeptically towards information being pushed by partisans, politicians, and communist regimes.

What we’ve seen instead are the actions of anti-journalists. There have been too many examples of journalists being intellectually dishonest, morally corrupt, or acting as bad-faith propagandists who deserve to be mocked, ridiculed and ignored.

But it doesn’t stop there. Some scientists, who are held up by many as being exempt from any political influences, admitted that they purposely avoided examining the lab leak theory sooner simply because prominent conservatives were questioning it.

And, to add insult to injury, social media giants like Facebook admitted that they were hiding posts that talked about the lab link from their algorithm in an effort to stop the spread of “disinformation.”

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. And every major institution — governments, journalists, scientists and big tech — is complicit in this corruption.

A simple mea culpa will not cut it. The truth is out there.

Leslie Kenderesi, spoke in front of a crowd at an anti-lockdown rally at Yonge-Dundas Square in downtown Toronto on Saturday, Dec. 5.

A video of Kenderesi’s speech at the rally has been posted online and has been shared widely on social media.

“I’m asking military right now serving, truck drivers, medical, engineers, whatever you are – do not take this unlawful order for the distribution of this vaccine,” said Kenderesi during the rally. The soldier was wearing his fatigues while he spoke.

Kenderesi questioned the safety of taking the coronavirus vaccine. He said that he will most likely not take the vaccine. He called it a killer and said that “nobody knows what this vaccine will do to your body.”

“I might get in a lot of [expletive] for doing this, but I don’t care anymore,” he added. The crowd strongly approved of his speech, cheering and applauding at the end of it.

The rally was organized by The Line Canada, a group dedicated to resisting tyranny and oppression while at the same time opposing the lockdowns and economic restrictions imposed upon Canadians by the government under the guise of the pandemic. They are also noted in their support for freely choosing whether people should wear a mask or not.

The Line Canada introduced Kenderesi in the rally as an “original Canadian patriot,” and that he was an officer cadet who had over 25 years of experience. They also said he was skilled in hand-to-hand combat and that he was qualified as both a machine-gunner and a tank driver.

Operation Vector is the armed forces’ plan to aid the Public Health Agency of Canada in the distribution of the coronavirus vaccine. The armed forces are planning to use their resources to speed up the delivery of vaccines across the country, as well as the transportation of doses “on short notice” from countries where Canada plans to purchase vaccines, such as the United States, Spain and Germany.

Symptoms started six to eight days after getting Johnson & Johnson’s COVID vaccine when doctors discovered blood clots in her lungs, stomach, brain and throat.

May 31, 2021 (Children’s Health Defense) – An Oregon woman developed rare blood clots after receiving Johnson & Johnson’s (J&J) COVID vaccine earlier this month.

Barbara Buchanan chose J&J because it was a one-dose shot, and because experts declared the vaccine was safe after they lifted a 10-day pause, KGW8 reported. The pause in the U.S. was triggered by a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) investigation into reports of rare blood clots.

Buchanan said she now regrets her decision. The 63-year-old first noticed symptoms six to eight days after her shot.

“I had a low-grade temperature and I just felt really tired,” she said. “I thought I was suffering from seasonal allergies.”

Buchanan also felt severe cramping in her legs, which she attributed to arthritis. Then she started coughing up blood. Doctors at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center ran a CT scan and discovered blood clots in her lungs, stomach, brain and throat.

“There has been an association with a very small number of people getting this vaccine that can get this special kind of blood clot with low platelets,” said Dr. Ray Moreno, chief medical officer at St. Vincent.

Moreno said Buchanan had blood clots with low platelets, the pattern seen in cases that prompted the CDC and U.S. Food and Drug Administration last month to pause the vaccine. But Moreno said the reaction is “very rare” and people shouldn’t be afraid of getting the vaccine.

“As with any medication or medical treatment, there is always the possibility of someone having an adverse reaction. That’s why it’s important to talk to your doctor, do your research and make an informed decision,” Moreno said in a statement to ABC affiliate KAT2TV.

As for Buchanan, she said the experience was “devastating.” She was “very scared that I was never going to see my home again or my family.” She spent about a week at the hospital and was released Monday. The clots are still in her body and she will have to take blood thinners.

“I have a good support system at home, but I’m scared, I’m scared,” Buchanan said. “People don’t think when they go to bed at night that they’re not going to wake up the next day, I don’t know that anymore.”

According to the most recent data from the CDC’s Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS), between Dec. 14, 2020 and May 21 there were 4,433 reports of clotting disorders and other related conditions. Of those, 1,842 reports were attributed to Pfizer, 1,168 reports to Moderna and 1,093 reports to J&J.

German scientists think they might know what’s causing blood clots

German researchers on Wednesday said they believed they’ve found the cause of the rare blood clots linked to J&J and AstraZeneca COVID vaccines.

The researchers, in a study yet to be reviewed, said COVID vaccines that employ adenovirus vectors — cold viruses used to deliver vaccine material — send some of their payload into the nucleus of cells, where some of the instructions for making coronavirus proteins can be misread. This can result in proteins that can potentially trigger blood clot disorders in a small number of recipients.

Other scientists have suggested competing theories for the clotting condition.

Scientists and U.S. and EU drug regulators have been searching for the cause of rare but potentially deadly clots accompanied by low blood platelet counts. The condition has led some countries to halt or limit use of AstraZeneca and J&J vaccines.

Johnson & Johnson, in an emailed statement said: “We are supporting continued research and analysis of this rare event as we work with medical experts and global health authorities. We look forward to reviewing and sharing data as it becomes available.”

AstraZeneca declined to comment.

For hockey fans in Quebec and Ontario, it doesn’t get any better than Leafs vs. Canadiens on a Saturday night — in a playoff game, no less! And last Saturday, for the first time in more than a year, Montreal’s Bell Centre didn’t resemble a haunted house: some 2,500 fans were allowed in to watch Game 6.

But it came at a price: at game time, tickets for this matchup started at $1,500 per seat. The top ticket was going for $12,000. Oh, and you have to buy at least a pair of tickets. Imagine that: $24,000 for a pair of seats. That’s like the price of a brand new Honda Civic, right?

As well, what unfolded at Bell Centre was not just a display of hockey but surely hypocrisy as well.

Sure, it’s OK for millionaire NHL players to play hockey and be observed live by those with deep pockets in the stands. But why is it that the kids of all the great hockey moms and hockey dads remain shut-out of their community rinks across our great Dominion? Why is it okay for superstars like Carey Price and Auston Matthews to play shinny, but doing so is offside for the great unwashed masses?

And say, whatever happened to all those COVID-19 protocols that have made life so miserable for all of us? After all, many of the politicians and bureaucrats that were pulling the strings to get fans in the stands are the same elitists that have preached to us for well over a year to stay at home and stay online.

But those mandates don’t seem to apply to the upper crust. Look at the owners of these teams — the Molson family and Larry Tanenbaum and the pooh-bahs running Rogers and Bell. Do you think this sort plays by the same rules as the rest of us?

But then again, if you can’t afford to buy a ticket, no problem. Stay home and watch it on TV. The owners of the Leafs, Bell and Rogers, will provide that service to you — for a price, of course. Indeed, like so many other elements inherent to this pandemic, it’s one rule for thee, and one rule for me.

And sure, uber-woke corporations like Bell and Rogers are down for the revolution, man. But when it comes to THEIR play time for a big game, a selective type of capitalism carries the day for these shameless suits.

And talk about a man's advantage! Quebec Premier Francois Legault was so kind as to cancel the curfew prior to game time. Obviously Legault didn’t want any of his friends getting hassled by the Montreal Police Service for having the temerity to walk the streets of Montreal past 9:30 p.m. What a save!

But never forget that 14-month old mantra, folks: “We’re all in this together.”

Yeah, right. Because when it comes to the hottest hockey tickets in town, there are always a few Habs… and millions of Hab-nots.

Canada sent COVID cheques to 15,0409 dead people

New documents from the Trudeau Liberals reveal that 4,637 COVID cheques were sent to Canadians living abroad, and a further 15,409 cheques were sent to deceased individuals.

The numbers and cost of the cheques were released as part of a response to an order paper question lodged by Conservative MP Jamie Schmale (Haliburton—Kawartha Lakes—Brock) with regard to the government's COVID-19 relief payments.

Last month, Schmale asked:

With regard to cheques or payments made to individuals with addresses outside of Canada and to a CTV news report of April 2021 on a Canadian family who has been living in New Zealand for the past 18 years and received a COVID-19 benefit cheque addressed to their disabled daughter who died in 2009, despite never applying for any financial aid:

(a) how many cheques or payments were made to individuals with addresses outside of Canada, broken down by program;

(b) how many cheques or payments were made to people who never applied for financial aid, broken down by program;

(c) what measures, if any, were taken to ensure that the payments made in (a) and (b) were not made to individuals who were deceased prior to 2020; and

(d) how many COVID-19 relief payments has the government made to people who died prior to the pandemic, and what is the total value of those payments, broken down by program?

Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) responded with an explanation of the automatic payments handed out to eligible individuals with a 2020 Disability Tax Credit (DTC) or benefiting from one of several similar programs. Eligible individuals received payments without any application, attestation or notification.

Number of Canadians Paid While Living Abroad: 4,637

In response to the question asking how many individuals with “addresses outside of Canada” received payments, ESDC tallied the number at 4,637.

According to the response, the government pointed to out-of-date address information to explain some of their payments:

…in some cases, information for persons with disabilities may not have been up-to-date because the Government did not receive the individual’s updated personal information, or because of late or incomplete tax filing.

Deceased Individuals Receive $9M in Payments

ESDC found that a total of 15,409 deceased individuals were sent money “regardless of the date of death in 2020”.

Clients with a valid 2020 DTC certificate are eligible for the entire calendar year, meaning from January 1 to December 31. As such, the estate is entitled to claim the DTC when preparing the deceased’s 2020 income tax and benefit return. Similarly, if an individual eligible for the DTC passed away during this qualifying period, the estate is eligible to receive this one-time payment regardless of the date of death in 2020.

The World Health Organization declared COVID-19 as a global pandemic on March 11, 2020.

The table below represents payments made to the estate in cases where the persons with disabilities passed away prior to that date.

In total, $9,208,500 was transferred to 15,409 recipients.

Nova Scotia top doc: Vaccines not 100% effective, “some people may die”

Nova Scotia's chief medical officer Dr. Robert Strang admitted today that COVID-19 vaccines are “not 100 per cent effective”, and that even after receiving two doses, “some people may die.”

The comments were made today during a joint press conference with Nova Scotia Premier Iain Rankin. “We, at this point, aren't requiring vaccinations” to enter the province, the premier told CTV reporter Natasha Pace.

Dr. Strang followed up with Pace, adding that “we fully expect the vaccine is not 100 per cent effective, even two doses”:

“So we fully expect that some people, even with two doses are going to get sick, and some people may die.

“That doesn't mean the vaccine's not working. The vaccine works on a population level as well.”

Rankin brought up the double vaccinations when allNovaScotia's Lyndsay Armstrong asked about opening the province up for compassionate family reunification.

Visitors entering Nova Scotia must apply to the provincial Liberal government for permission before crossing the border, and must enter a 14 day quarantine on arrival.

Rankin said the province can “become more flexible once people have two doses of the vaccine,” adding that “when you have one dose, they're not nearly as effective as two doses.”

The Ontario government has changed its mind about allowing healthcare workers to attend the highly anticipated Game 7 between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens.

On Monday morning, Heritage, Tourism, Culture and Sport Minister Lisa MacLeod tweeted that the government will allow 550 fully vaccinated healthcare workers to attend tonight’s game in-person.

The decision is a sudden change of heart for the Ford government, which had previously made it clear they were not going to allow spectators to watch the game in-person.

In a statement on Monday, Premier Doug Ford praised Ontario’s healthcare workers for their sacrifices during the pandemic and said that 550 fully vaccinated people gathering in the Scotiabank Area will pose “minimal risk” to public health.

The Scotiabank Area has a capacity of 19,800.

The move comes after Quebec allowed 2,500 people to attend Game 6 inside Montreal’s Bell Centre on Saturday.

On Sunday, Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown launched a petition calling for Ontario to allow 2,500 healthcare workers to attend the game.

“Given the fact that a large number of our essential workers and healthcare workers who have given so much over the last year are fully vaccinated, this would be a way to give the Maple Leafs a boost,” Brown told CP24.

Nova Scotia, Ontario among the most locked down provinces: True North Freedom Score

While Canada’s allies are reopening up their countries, much of Canada continues to adhere to strict lockdowns and public health orders.

The True North Provincial Freedom Score found that Nova Scotia and Ontario were the most locked-down provinces in the country when taking into account business closures, school openings, in-person dining and nearly a dozen other variables.

Based on the report, Nova Scotia received the lowest Freedom Score of -8, while Ontario and Manitoba followed closely behind with scores of -6.

The freest region based on the 12 variables True North considered was the territory of Yukon which received a Freedom Score of 10. Interestingly Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut all received a Freedom Score of 8.

Predictably, Ontario and Manitoba also received a low Freedom Score given the increasingly stringent measures being applied in both provinces to combat recent surges of COVID-19 and its variants.

The report is meant as a way for Canadians to get an understanding of Canada’s lockdown landscape. Anyone interested in more information about COVID-19 or regarding provincial or territorial public health measures should access any of the publicly available provincial or federal COVID-19 information resources.

Madam Speaker, I am proud to rise today to begin the debate on my private member's bill, Bill C-268, the Protection of Freedom of Conscience Act. I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge this bill is built on the hard work and determination of former members of Parliament. The first iteration that sought to address this issue was introduced by the late Mark Warawa in 2016, but it did not progress when the government introduced Bill C-14.

I do consider it a tremendous honor that my bill is the same number, C-268, as his was. After Bill C-14 was passed into law, my former colleague David Anderson introduced his private member's bill, Bill C-418, which died on the Order Paper when the election was called in 2019.

I would like to thank all those who have been championing this issue for many years and for their willingness to work with me.

Experts throughout Canada provided information and advice, while thousands of Canadians have voiced their support for protecting our fundamental freedoms. While there are numerous dictionaries that define conscience, they are consistent in defining it as an individual's inner sense of knowing the difference between what is right and wrong and that guides their behaviour.

An article by Cardus called “The Imperative of Conscience Rights” references the following:

“Conscience” traces to the Latin conscientia, and is related to the Greek synderesis. While conscientia refers to the application of our moral knowledge to particular situations, synderesis refers to the moral awareness built into each person and that urges us to do good and avoid evil.

Bill C-268 is straightforward as it seeks to enshrine in law a minimum national standard of conscience protections for medical professionals while respecting the jurisdiction of my provincial colleagues to expand on it. It is a response to calls from disability rights groups, first nations, the Ontario Medical Association and many hundreds of medical and mental health professionals to protect conscience rights.

It would ensure the medical professionals who choose to not take part in, or refer a patient for, assisted suicide or medical assistance in dying would never be forced by violence, threats, coercion or loss of employment to violate the freedoms protected in section 2(a) of the charter. This bill also serves to protect the rights of patients to receive a second opinion, and by doing so, would protect our health care system.

In my consultations, I spoke with disability rights advocate Heidi Janz. She told me about being born in the Soviet Union. Doctors told her parents that Heidi would never walk, talk or think and that she would be dependent on others for the rest of her short life. They told her parents to put her into an institution and forget they ever had her. Heidi Janz has severe cerebral palsy.

Her parents did not listen to the dominant narrative of their day. They loved their daughter and believed her life had value. Eventually, they found the support they needed. Today, Dr. Heidi Janz holds a Ph.D. and is an adjunct professor of ethics at the University of Alberta. In her spare time she is a playwright and author, and somehow, despite how busy her life is, she also serves as the chair of the ending of life ethics committee for the Council of Canadians with Disabilities.

Dr. Janz is a remarkable woman. While some might pity her, she will have none of it. She says that everyone talks about how bad it must be to have a disability, but that she chooses daily to live in opposition to that narrative. She also says that disabled people can be so much more than their diagnosis, and that she is proof of that fact.

If it had been up to the dominant view of her day, she would never have had the chance to disprove that narrative. If her parents did not have the option to find the help they wanted to get that crucial second opinion, none of my colleagues in this place would be hearing about this marvellous woman. This is not just a theoretical story.

Canadian Catholic college backs statement by pro-gay group affirming youths who identify as LGBT

The University of St. Michael’s College said that supporting LGBT young people was one of its core values.

TORONTO, Canada, May 31, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — A Catholic college in Canada has become the first in the country to sign onto a statement released by a U.S.-based pro-homosexual advocacy group in partnership with pro-LGBT Catholic bishops in support of young people who identify as LGBT. The statement tells such young people that “God is on your side.”

The executive committee of the University of St. Michael’s College, which is federated with the University of Toronto, voted unanimously earlier this month to add its name to a statement released by some pro-LGBT U.S. Catholic bishops in partnership with the pro-homosexual Tyler Clementi Foundation in support of young people who identify as LGBT.

“Offering our concern and support for the wellbeing of LGBT young people, including our own students, is entirely in keeping with our core values at St. Michael’s,” said University President David Sylvester in a May 12 press release about the vote.

The Tyler Clementi Foundation, which publicly promotes the normalization of homosexuality, bears the name of an 18-year-old man who committed suicide in 2010 after his roommate at university filmed him engaging in homosexual acts with another student and then released the footage to the public. “Without Tyler’s knowledge, his roommate secretly pointed his computer’s camera at Tyler’s bed, left the room, and invited other students online to watch Tyler in a most private, intimate act with another man,” states the foundation’s website about the event. The website encourages people to “accept and embrace others, especially LGBTQ+ youth, for their unique identities that make this world a better place.”

The Tyler Clementi Foundation’s vision of the human person and sexuality is at odds with Catholic teaching. The Catholic Church teaches that homosexual acts are immoral. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that “basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that ‘homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.’ They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved” (CCC 2357). The Catholic Church furthermore teaches that same-sex attraction is also “objectively disordered” since God created sexual attraction for the purpose of drawing a man and a woman together to become husband and wife in marriage. The Catholic Church holds that God does not make anyone “gay.”

St. Michael’s College states on its website that its vision is to be a “recognized leader in promoting respectful dialogue and action on care for our common home (Laudato si’) and solidarity with the human family (Fratelli Tutti).” It states that its mission is to challenge “all its members to exercise transformative leadership in service of the common good and care of all creation.”

LifeSiteNews reached out to St. Michael’s College asking why a Catholic college is signing on to a statement by a pro-homosexual advocacy group that advocates for positions contrary to Catholic moral teaching. LifeSite also asked St. Michael’s College if it affirms with the Catholic Church that homosexual acts are “intrinsically disordered” and that same-sex attraction is “objectively disordered.” No response was provided by press time.

In an interview with German-speaking Catholic news website kath.net (translated in full below), the former prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith said on Friday, “The local bishop, responsible for the salvation of his faithful entrusted to him by Christ, has a sacred duty to speak to the conscience of a prominent Catholic and point out to him the glaring contradiction between promoting abortion and receiving Holy Communion.”

Several high-profile politicians in the U.S. — including President Joe Biden and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi — claim to be Catholic, but support the killing of unborn children through abortion. And a number of bishops in the U.S. are currently attempting to slow down, if not stop, the process to draft a document spelling out the Catholic Church’s position on pro-abortion politicians claiming to be Catholic.

“Whoever actively participates in abortion, or, against better knowledge and in defiance of all instruction, favors it by word and deed, or, as a Catholic in a responsible position, fails to oppose it, is in contradiction to the will of God and receives the sacraments not for grace but for judgment,” Müller explained.

“Bishops who, in political calculation, place their party affiliation and media praise above their pastoral duties are guilty of profaning the Church, which they thus present to the world as an NGO and deny its true being as the Body of Christ and temple of the Holy Spirit,” he continued. “With their cunning excuses that they do not want to degrade Holy Communion to a means of politics, they deceive only themselves — but not others who see through the undignified game with which Holy Communion is made a means of politics. In an almost self-destructive way, they confirm the liberal prejudice that religion is a private matter and has no place in public.”

The College is aware and concerned about the increase of misinformation circulating on social media and other platforms regarding physicians who are publicly contradicting public health orders and recommendations. Physicians hold a unique position of trust with the public and have a professional responsibility to not communicate anti-vaccine, anti-masking, anti-distancing and anti-lockdown statements and/or promoting unsupported, unproven treatments for COVID-19. Physicians must not make comments or provide advice that encourages the public to act contrary to public health orders and recommendations. Physicians who put the public at risk may face an investigation by the CPSO and disciplinary action, when warranted. When offering opinions, physicians must be guided by the law, regulatory standards, and the code of ethics and professional conduct. The information shared must not be misleading or deceptive and must be supported by available evidence and science.

This is nothing short of an attack on the very notion of scientific inquiry and a blatant rejection of the principles of the scientific method. It is shocking and horrifying to see such a policy of outright censorship on what are controversial and novel issues being carried out in a country like Canada.

May 31, 2021 (American Thinker) – India has been suffering horrendously from COVID of late, and the complete death toll may never be known. But in the capital city of Delhi, mass distribution of ivermectin began and the results have been stunning.

Yet, most doctors in this country refuse to prescribe Ivermectin, and most hospitals in this country refuse to administer it even to seriously ill COVID patients, citing the lack of double-blind studies – which are expensive and time consuming and which yield no big profits for anyone since ivermectin is a generic drug with no patent protection.

A Buffalo, NY woman had to sue in order to receive Ivermectin therapy while hospitalized, forced to bear considerable legal fees. After a judge ordered that she receive it, she recovered and left the hospital.

In poorer countries, where vaccines are unavailable to too expensive for mass use, they have been forced to resort to Ivermectin. This has had the effect of conducting a mass experiment (albeit not with the double-blind, randomized, controlled conditions that “gold standard” medical research requires. Maybe that will enable the ivermectin deniers to maintain their posture of self-righteousness.

Note that the emergency use authorization under which the experimental mRNA vaccines have been approved for mass use would not be given if there were an accepted effective alternative therapy. Billions of dollars flowing into the hands of vaccine makers would not have happened.

(Natural News) A Canadian doctor and author of a declaration opposing attempts by the Canadian medical establishment to prohibit doctors from questioning the mainstream COVID-19 narrative says the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) is “dismantling the ethics put in place after the Second World War with the Nuremberg Code.”

“I was taught in medical school that the bedrock of the Nuremberg Code is a free and fully formed consent [for all patients]. To only promote the public health measures is a denial of the rights of those patients,” Dr. Patrick Phillips, who works as an emergency room physician in Englehart, Ontario, told LifeSiteNews.

Phillips, along with other Canadian physicians, helped author and then publish the declaration “For science and truth,” which came in response to a recent statement from the CPSO saying that doctors must not speak their mind if that would contradict the “official” government response to COVID-19.

The CPSO statement is directed against doctors who take to social media to speak their minds freely in opposition to COVID-19 lockdowns, and states that doctors who go against public health measures and vaccines, or promote “unproven treatments for COVID-19,” will be investigated.

The group of physicians countered that at its core, the primary obligation of a doctor is not to the “CPSO or any other authority,” but to patients.

Phillips noted that the “science and truth” declaration is all about informed consent and patient rights. “It’s a group of physicians from across the county, we are all signatories of the document itself, there is no particular author, but when we saw that statement from the college, we were shocked about how restrictive and anti-science it was.”

“[The CPSO statement] was basically asking us to go against our oath and our ethics of putting the patients first in offering free and fully informed consent to our patients, and we knew we had to do something.”

The “science and truth” declaration states that the CPSO statement “violates” a doctor’s pledge to his patients in three ways: by denial of the scientific method, by violating a doctor’s pledge to use evidence-based medicine for patients, and by violating the duty of informed consent.

Phillips told LifeSiteNews that the CPSO has denied patients “the right to hear all sides of the story” about COVID-19 lockdowns and medical treatments. “It’s not simply a declaration. We are asking the CPSO to rescind their statement. This is about patient rights.”

Phillips said that the plan for the “science and truth” declaration going forward is for it to grow and spread both among the medical community, as well as to other professions.

“We are a movement of physicians who are going to follow the Nuremberg Code, a diverse group of physicians. We are not anti-vaccine, or even anti-lockdown necessarily,” Phillips explained.

When asked about feedback regarding the “science and truth” declaration, Phillips said that many doctors he knows were shocked by the CPSO statement, but were afraid to sign the declaration due to the possibility of being “canceled.”

“A total of 151 physicians were brave enough to sign and endorse it as of today. This is really significant,” he added.

Now, the document has a total of roughly 11,000 signatures, including over 400 physicians. The signatories also include dentists and other medical professionals.

But more fascinating than what was happening down on the ice was what was occurring up in the stands.

Namely, Premier Triple-F (Flip-Flop Ford) — who was vehement that the Scotiabank Arena would remain devoid of fans for safety reasons — did another 180-degree policy turn on Sunday night by stating that 550 people would indeed be allowed into the stands.

Evidently, the science pertaining to the Wuhan virus had changed in the space of some 21 hours…

But there was a catch, alas: all 550 people gaining admission to Toronto’s Factory of Sadness were healthcare and long-term care workers. And all of them had to be completely vaccinated. So, in other words, if you didn’t get the jabs, you wouldn’t get to see the Habs…

So, the question arises: is this going to be the way of the near future? If one wants to attend a sports event or a rock concert or get on a bus or hop on a plane, proof of vaccination will be mandatory?

And then there was the puzzling issue of attendance. After all, last Saturday, 2,500 fans were allowed into Montreal’s Bell Centre to see Game 6. That same night, the Boston Bruins packed some 17,400 fans into their arena; but in Toronto, attendance was limited to 550.

Isn’t it fascinating how the “science” pertaining to COVID-19 vis-à-vis arena capacity changes from region to region?

And so much for those authorities who had previously proclaimed that the idea of a vaccine passport was conspiracy theory fodder. Because that is exactly what played out in Toronto on Monday night — a perverse form of a classist system in which only the fully inoculated were allowed into the Scotiabank Arena. (Oh, and, surely the senior executives of Rogers and Bell were there, too.

These companies are the majority owners of the Leafs — and of numerous mainstream media outlets that have been admonishing the populace to stay home since the pandemic began.)

As for the great unwashed and unvaccinated masses in Toronto who want to continue watching hockey games when the 2021-2022 season kicks off?

Well, they may simply have to remain at home watching the games on TV — via services provided by Rogers and Bell (for a considerable fee, of course). Hey, money always finds its way home, after all…

Today in federal court in Toronto, lawyers for Rebel News, alongside lawyers from the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms, are suing the federal government to put an end to Justin Trudeau's illegal and unconstitutional COVID jail system.

Healthy Canadians arriving by air, who already tested negative for COVID before flying, have been required to quarantine for three days at the cost of thousands of dollars while they await a second PCR test upon landing in Canada. Upon the results of that second PCR test, these healthy COVID-free people are then required to finish out a 14-day quarantine at home.If travellers don't submit to arbitrary COVID detention, which appears to be up to the discretion of the health agents at the border, or a second COVID test upon arrival, these law-abiding Canadians then face thousands of dollars in fines and possible jail time. Completely healthy people are being arrested, detained and — as we found out today in court — denied the knowledge that they have a right to contact a lawyer, all in the name of "two weeks to flatten the curve."

That's exactly what happened to former Rebel News journalist Keean Bexte, who travelled to Florida on assignment for Rebel News. Upon his arrival back in Calgary, Keean was taken to a COVID jail hotel, despite having the ability to quarantine alone, his own mode of transportation to his location of quarantine, and a negative PCR test before he got on his plane back to Canada.

Even worse, these quarantine measures don't apply to travellers who are arriving back to Canada by land. Apparently, the federal government presumes that so-called variants of concern only travel via airplane. But in fact, the government provided no evidence of the variants of concern entering via plane in their affidavits.

Law-abiding Canadian citizens are allowed to travel in and out of our country. They shouldn't be punished financially by being sent to an overpriced COVID hotel, and denied their liberty and security of person just for trying to come home.

Kenney set the timeline at early July for the removal of all public health restrictions in Alberta, but only as long as the target of 70 per cent vaccination rate of Albertans aged 12 and over is met.

Rebel News reporter Daniel Day was at the legislature to take the temperature of the crowd on the newly announced relaunch of normal. For many of the protesters at the legislature, tying the return of their civil liberties to vaccination rates felt coercive.

The protesters told Day that they don't trust Kenney to follow through with his plan, after he's moved the goalposts on other reopening strategies so many times before.

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney says it’s wrong to cancel and erase the legacy of historical figures like Sir John A. Macdonald.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Kenney warned against attacking historic figures for positions inconsistent with today’s standards.

“I think Canada is worth celebrating. I think Canada is a great historical achievement. It is a country that people all around the world seek to join as new Canadians. It is an imperfect country but it is still a great country, just as John Macdonald was an imperfect man, but was still a great leader,” he said.

“So if we go full-force into cancel culture, then we’re cancelling most if not all of our history. Instead, I think we should learn from our history. We should learn from our achievements but also our failures.”

A wave of anger has been directed at several historical figures after investigators say 215 human remains are buried at the grounds at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School.

The results are preliminary and the company conducting the investigation plans to release a report this month.

The question to Kenney was prompted by the Calgary Board of Education decision on Tuesday to rename Langevin High School. Hector-Louis Langevin, a Father of Confederation and cabinet minister, is considered one of the architects of the residential school system.

On Monday evening, Charlottetown, PEI’s City Council voted to remove its statue of Sir John A. Macdonald, just weeks after voting to keep it where it was.

Kenney says that no figure in Canadian history is perfect, noting that other great figures in Canadian history such as Tommy Douglas and members of the Famous Five advocated for eugenics and are not being attacked.

Kenney went on to say that trying to erase Canadian history would not serve the interestst of reconciliation, adding it would be better to recognize historical wrongs and address them.

“I really think it’s inappropriate to focus on one or two figures if we want to get into a debate about cancelling Canadian history. We need to understand that it means all of our history, and I think that kind of destructive spirit is not really the spirit of reconciliation,” he said.

“The spirit of reconciliation is to learn from the wrongs of the past, to seek to remedy them, while knowing our history and moving forward together.”

EU Launches "Digital Wallet" In Latest Step Toward 'Cashless Society'

Despite the concerns about digital privacy being invaded by the "vaccine passports" that Europe has demanded of travelers, the EU is pressing ahead with plans to launch a "digital wallet" that would carry digital copies of a drivers' license and credit cards (sort of like Apple Pay does) as Europe continues its transition away from cash.

According to the FT, the EU is preparing to unveil its plans for the bloc-wide "digital wallet" on Wednesday. The product is the result of what Brussels described as several states' demands for the EU to create a digital tool to access important records and other products and services via the smartphone.

A digital wallet could store payment details and passwords, and allow citizens from all 27 countries to log into local government websites or pay utility bills or perhaps even merchants using a single recognized identity.

Like with other smartphone apps, the digital wallets will be accessed via fingerprint and/or retina scanning. It can also serve as a vault where users can store official documents such as a driver’s license. Using the wallet will not be compulsory, but EU citizens who chose to sign up would benefit from an extra-secure digital ecosystem and greater flexibility ideal for post-pandemic life.

"The new digital ID will give every European the keys to their digital twin," Thierry Breton, and EU commissioner in charge of digital policy, said in a speech earlier this year.

EU officials plan to make it illegal for companies to use any data gleaned from these 'digital passports' for marketing or any other commercial purpose, the FT said. Brussels is engaged in discussions with member states to provide guidelines on technical standards for the rollout of the digital wallet, which is expected to be fully operational in about a year.

But here's the bottom line: The EU digital wallet is "simple, secure and it will protect people online”, said a person with direct knowledge of the plans. "People will also have the power to decide how much information they give out while Google and others don’t let you decide what you’re giving away."

So far, the program has seen limited interest, with only 19 member states moving to introduce the digital wallets to their citizens, and unfortunately not all of them are cross-compatible. But regulators hope that the rise in "digital literacy" driven by the pandemic will help make the "digital wallet" more popular. After all: who wants to keep carrying around all those annoying ID and credit cards?

Many eagerly sought the injections and couldn’t wait to boast about it, believing they were protecting their health and helping to end the “pandemic.” However, the hesitancy or in some cases outright refusal to take shots among the military, health care workers, minorities, Republicans, and Evangelicals would not be tolerated by the authoritarians who believe they know what’s best for an individual’s health. As the numbers of exuberant volunteers willing to take the injections waned, mass vaccination sites began to close across the country. As a result, a $1.5 billion dollar ad campaign was launched in March by the Biden administration to browbeat every American into getting vaccinated.

A partnership between the White House and the Ad Council produced the “It’s Up to You” campaign featuring all living former US presidents as well as their spouses (except the Trumps), encouraging all to “roll up your sleeves and do your part.”

Under the umbrella of the Ad Council’s “COVID Vaccine Education Initiative,” campaigns were launched targeting African-American and Hispanic communities, churches, women, and parents. Several commercials featuring Sesame Street characters were aimed at young children, conveying that vaccination leads to regaining lost freedoms such as visiting grandparents and playing with other children.

As President Biden announced the goal of administering 200 million vaccine doses within his first 100 days in office, the propaganda campaign again picked up steam in April as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) received an additional $3 billion in funding by Health and Human Services (HHS) to “strengthen vaccine confidence.” The “We Can Do This” ad campaign was launched encompassing social media, television, and grassroots efforts featuring a Community Corps of “trusted voices in communities across the country.”

The Community Corps was created to “…mobilize health professionals, scientists, community organizations, faith leaders, businesses, rural stakeholders, civil rights organizations, sports leagues and athletes, and Americans from all walks of life to become leaders within their own communities to help get friends, family, and neighbors vaccinated.”

June 1, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – A Johns Hopkins School of Medicine professor blasted the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for ignoring crucial data on natural immunity from COVID-19, saying that “probably half the country has natural immunity from prior infection. This is the most slow, reactionary, political CDC in American history.”

Dr. Marty Makary, also a professor at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, made the remarks during an interview on the Vince Coglianese Show, where he excoriated public health officials for denying the reality of a natural immunity to COVID-19, acquired through natural infection.

Makary explained that the CDC’s numbers on those who have contracted a COVID-19 infection are artificially low, giving a false impression of the spread of the virus and the herd immunity that has already arisen therefrom.

Referencing the roughly 30 million COVID infections cited on the CDC’s dedicated COVID-tracker webpage, Makary said “those are just the people who are confirmed to have had the infection. It’s probably five times higher, about 150 million people.”

Makary spoke positively of the broad spread of the virus in relation to immunity: “When you get natural immunity from a severe COVID infection, you have natural immunity that’s probably lifelong.”

Various studies have shown this to be the case, Makary noted, paying attention to data from Denmark, where only “six-tenths of one percent of people who had COVID ever get the infection a second time.” “And that’s when they’re around it (COVID) all the time, that’s in healthcare workers,” he added.

“Studies out of California prove that and show 38 percent of Californians had antibodies back in March before the vaccine was really kicking off. About half the country has natural immunity.”

And this “natural immunity works,” Makary continued, adding that “there is more data on natural immunity than there is on vaccinated immunity, because natural immunity has been around longer.”

Though the virus has been around “for 15 months,” Makary explained that “in the U.S. we’re not seeing re-infections.” Additionally, he recognized that Italy too, once the epicenter of the crisis, is “not seeing re-infections.”

OTTAWA, Ontario, June 1, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – An amendment to Canada’s controversial internet regulation bill proposed by the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) to bring back safeguards for user-generated social media content was voted down Monday by all opposition parties.

The Liberals, NDP, and Bloc party members rejected the CPC amendment during a clause-by-clause review of Bill C-10 by the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage.

According to Dr. Michael Geist, law professor at University of Ottawa and Canada Research Chair in Internet and E-commerce Law, the CPC amendment was in effect offering a “do-over” of the bill after a clause was removed that protected user-generated content.

“The Conservative amendment effectively offered the parties a ‘do-over’ by acknowledging that the removal had sparked huge public concern over the implications for freedom of expression and net neutrality,” wrote Geist, a law professor at the University of Ottawa and Canada Research Chair in Internet and E-commerce Law, in an opinion piece.

“Nevertheless, the Liberals, NDP, and Bloc voted down the motion, with the NDP not even bothering to speak to the issue at all.”

On Monday, CPC MP Rachael Harder said during the Heritage committee meeting that "to put the CRTC in control of such a thing is not only daunting for them, by their own admission, but crazy. Like, it’s just ludicrous. This bill is under the guise of ‘modernizing the Broadcasting Act,’ but the Broadcasting Act actually shouldn’t be applied to the Internet.”

“The Internet is this incredible place that is limitless. So, you don’t actually need the CRTC to step in and pick winners and losers, show favouritism to some and harm others … what’s going on here without that (safeguarding user content) is actually the extreme censorship of material posted online, and therefore an attack on the concept of net neutrality.”

Last year, the Trudeau government introduced Heritage Minister Steven Guilbeault’s Bill C-10 that would regulate certain online media services through the creation of a new class of broadcaster called “online undertakings.” The new regulations would be done through amendments to Canada’s Broadcasting Act.

The original draft of Bill C-10 had a Section 4.1 exemption clause for “user content” posted on social media by individuals, meaning such posts would originally have not fallen under Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission’s (CRTC) regulations.

The CRTC is the federal body tasked with regulating TV and radio in Canada, but up until Bill C-10 has kept a hands-off approach to regulating the internet.

However, a recent amendment to Bill C-10 through the Heritage Committee removed the Section 4.1 provision, which in theory means the federal government would be able to regulate what people post online.

The legislation, if passed, would force companies such as YouTube, Twitter, or Instagram to remove content deemed “harmful” within 24 hours. In essence, it would let the CRTC regulate the internet and social media in line with their regulations for broadcasting services.

The CPC amendment would have restored the Section 4.1 provision.

Geist noted that while the Liberal, NDP, and Bloc parties were “not supportive of addressing the user generated content concerns,” they were “quick to defend any suggestions that the study of Bill C-10 had been flawed and excluded important voices.”

Geist said the impact of not having “key witnesses appear before committee has become increasingly obvious as clause by clause has proceeded.”

“The reality is that the MPs may be well-meaning, but there is too much they simply don’t know about the bill and its implications. This includes the numerous terms that are not defined, the likely impact on creators, the consequences of discoverability, and the ability to implement provisions that are not found anywhere else in the world among them,” wrote Geist.

“Without that knowledge, many simply revert to platitudes about making web giants pay, instead of acknowledging the obvious: The committee’s study of Bill C-10 has been deeply flawed and embarrassingly incomplete. As MP Kevin Waugh told committee yesterday, ‘Bill C-10 is a disaster now. We need to take a step back.’”

In a May 17 open letter addressed to Trudeau, tech critics called upon his government to halt all regulation of the internet, saying there would be “unintended consequences for the free and open internet in Canada” from any “overreaching regulatory policies.”

In a recent article, New York Times best-selling author and journalist Michael Capuzzo detailed the manner in which Ivermectin came to be used to treat COVID-19, and simultaneously subjected to global censorship despite its incredibly high success rate at treating the virus. The May 2021 issue of Mountain Home contains Capuzzo’s detailed report, following the actions of doctors in the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC).

Ivermectin is “what the world desperately needs now,” according to Dr. Pierre Kory, one of the founding members of the FLCCC. But although the desperate need is present, governing health bodies apparently seem intent on ensuring that the drug is not known, Capuzzo reveals.

The five-man team (shown in order in article header photo) in of Dr. Paul Marik, Dr. Joseph Varon, Dr. Gianfranco Umberto Meduri, Dr. Jose Iglesias, and Dr. Kory has “nearly 2,000 peer reviewed papers and books and over a century of bedside experience in treating multi-organ failure and severe pneumonia-type diseases” between them.

Dr. Marik spent the early days of COVID-19 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital treating patients with the virus, and developing a treatment protocol as early as January 2020. The FLCCC then realized in March 2020 that the coronavirus itself does not directly kill a person but rather overpowers the body with a “vast viral graveyard,” which then attacks the body, causing organ inflammation and blood clotting. They developed the MATH+ protocol for treating COVID, composed of Methylprednisolone, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Thiamine (Vitamin B1), and the blood thinner Heparin.

As Capuzzo wrote, while the approach was strongly recommended against by health bodies throughout the world, it was subsequently made the “global standard of hospital care,” courtesy of later studies. Their first COVID-19 preventive protocol, the first of its kind, was “centered” on the use of the “miracle drug” Ivermectin.

“It’s therapeutic nihilism to say that doctors can do nothing,” Marik said. “Supportive care is no care at all.”

The documents discussed his policy of “early intervention” as a way of preventing hospitalizations, which he said resulted in an “84 percent reduction in hospitalizations” for COVID-19 patients.

Zelenko is used to social media censorship. He’s been restricted by Facebook and YouTube and also had his Twitter account suspended. He added that Google search has also limited access to his own site, https://vladimirzelenkomd.com. A Google Incognito search lists the doctor’s site 39 or the fourth page of results. The search engine DuckDuckGo lists the site No. 1.

Zelenko made news in 2020 when he recommended alternate treatments for COVID-19, including the anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine and antibiotics. He sent a letter to the White House about his experience treating patients and was also contacted by the Trump administration.

Former President Donald Trump gave support to the doctor’s efforts last May, according to The Times of Israel. The president even took hydroxychloroquine and a zinc supplement. He explained, “I got a letter from a doctor the other day, from Westchester, New York,” who appeared to be Zelenko. “Trump did not name the doctor, but it matches the description of Jewish physician Vladimir ‘Zev’ Zelenko.”

Even a disdainful New York Times referred to him in a headline as, “Touting Virus Cure, ‘Simple Country Doctor’ Becomes a Right-Wing Star.”

Google is the world’s most dominant search engine, with an estimated 92 percent of all global search traffic. The company has also been called out repeatedly for censoring conservative content. In July 2020, Google seemingly blacklisted numerous conservative websites like NewsBusters, MRCTV, CNSNews.com, Free Beacon, Breitbart, The Resurgent, Twitchy, RedState, PJ Media, Judicial Watch, The Blaze, Townhall, Project Veritas, LifeNews, PragerU and The Daily Wire.

Largest Meat Producer Says 'Vast Majority' of Plants Back Online After Cyberattack

The world’s largest meat processing company is getting back online after production around the world was disrupted by a cyberattack just weeks after a similar incident shut down a U.S. oil pipeline.

Brazil’s JBS SA said late Tuesday that it had made “significant progress” in dealing with the cyberattack and expected the “vast majority” of its plants to be operating on Wednesday.

“Our systems are coming back online and we are not sparing any resources to fight this threat,” Andre Nogueira, CEO of JBS USA, said in a statement.

Earlier, the White House said JBS had notified the U.S. of a ransom demand from a criminal organization likely based in Russia. White House principal deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the White House and the Department of Agriculture have been in touch with the company several times this week.

JBS is the second-largest producer of beef, pork and chicken in the U.S. If it were to shut down for even one day, the U.S. would lose almost a quarter of its beef-processing capacity, or the equivalent of 20,000 beef cows, according to Trey Malone, an assistant professor of agriculture at Michigan State University.

The closures reflect the reality that modern meat processing plants are heavily automated, for both food- and worker-safety reasons. Computers collect data at multiple stages of the production process, and orders, billing, shipping and other functions are all electronic.

JBS, which has not stated publicly that the attack was ransomware, said the cyberattack affected servers supporting its operations in North America and Australia. Backup servers weren’t affected and it said it was not aware of any customer, supplier or employee data being compromised.

JBS plants in Australia resumed limited operations as of Wednesday in New South Wales and Victoria states, Agriculture Minister David Littleproud said. The company hoped to resume work in Queensland state on Thursday, he said.

JBS is the largest meat and food processing company in Australia, with 47 facilities including abattoirs, feedlots and meat processing sites.

Littleproud said his department and Australian law enforcement officials were due to meet with their counterparts in the U.S. on Wednesday.

Even before the attack, U.S. meat prices were rising due to coronavirus shutdowns, bad weather and high plant absenteeism. Malone said the disruption could further raise meat prices ahead of summer barbecues. The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates beef prices will climb 1%-2% this year, poultry as much as 1.5% and pork 2%-3%.

JBS, which is a majority shareholder of Pilgrim’s Pride, didn’t say which of its 84 U.S. facilities were closed Monday and Tuesday because of the attack. It said JBS USA and Pilgrim’s were able to ship meat from nearly all of its facilities Tuesday. The company also said it was making progress toward resuming plant operations in the U.S. and Australia. Several of the company’s pork, poultry and prepared foods plants were operational Tuesday and its Canada beef facility resumed production, it said.

Earlier Tuesday, a union official confirmed that two shifts at the company’s largest U.S. beef plant, in Greeley, Colorado, were canceled. Some plant shifts in Canada were also canceled Monday and Tuesday, according to JBS Facebook posts.

On May 15, People’s Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier delivered a powerful speech discussing the rights of Canadians at a freedom rally in Toronto.

New Rebel Alexa Lavoie caught up with Bernier before the rally to ask him about the consequences of the COVID lockdowns. Bernier was firm in stating that lockdowns should be ended immediately.

“Every business is essential,” he said.

Bernier said he opposes the idea of vaccine passports, stating that we don’t want to become a ‘show me your papers’ society. He argues that the adoption of vaccine passports will create new societal classes.

In the event of an election this fall, the PPC will be ready with candidates in every federal riding, Bernier told Alexa. “We will give the opportunity for every Canadian to vote for freedom, to vote for their values, to vote for what they believe and to vote for the PPC.”

Bernier also discussed the potential ramifications of Bill C-10, which would give the federal government unprecedented power to regulate online content.

“That bill must not pass, it’s not in line with our Canadian values,” Bernier exclaimed. The PPC leader went so far as to say we should abolish the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission and its associated regulations.

In a press conference today, Yukon's Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Brendan Hanley stated that while “parents are a very important part of this picture”, minors who are capable of understanding and “expressing” their wishes are “able to give their own consent” for the COVID-19 vaccine.

“Consent is based on capacity and not age,” said the top doc.

The comments were made in reply to a reporter asking whether youth need parental permission in order to get a COVID-19 vaccine.

Here's what Hanley had to say, in part:

“What we've always had to rely on is what we've always relied on for… youth and immunization, and for that matter, other health care decisions. And that is that… consent is based on capacity and not age. So adolescents are right in that age… that age bracket where they are starting to become autonomous individuals, and they're starting to learn how to make… decisions, and determine their own autonomy within the family and within society for that matter.

“So consent really works the same way. There is, actually, a one-pager, a bilingual one-pager on how that whole process works.

“…that doesn't mean to say that a parent does not — is not wanted. I mean, really, that's a conversation between the parent and the youth… ideally, those conversations should take place, in terms of questions about the vaccine. Some of the youth I know are doing their own research, they're asking their parents questions, they're asking others, they're talking with their peers.

“So it's really making sure that the child has that conversation, reviews the information on the mRNA information sheet, and then reaches an agreement about… who's going to provide the consent. Maybe it's a 12-year-old, 13, 14-year-old, and that consent is fully taken on by the parent, and that's fine.

“And it may be a slightly older child who then decides to make that decision.

“So really, it's having that conversation, and then deciding who's going to… bring that permission to the table… and always at that table, there's a chance to ask further questions.

“But definitely, the parents are a very important part of this picture. But a minor who is capable of understanding, and capable of expressing, is able to give their own consent.”

In Yukon, a minor is defined as a person under 19 years, and a child is a person under the age of 16.

For comparison, written parental consent is required for minors in the territory to work in a bar that serves alcohol, and the age of majority to purchase tobacco was raised from 18 to 19 in 2019.

LGBTQ & Trans Pride in Toronto: Not everyone is welcome at flag raising ceremony

On Tuesday, we dropped by Toronto’s Nathan Phillips Square, home to City Hall (and a never-ending vortex of woke-ism). We were going to take in the raising of the rainbow flag, which is emblematic of the LGBT community. Correction: LGBT is so last decade. According to the City of Toronto, the new and improved moniker is 2SLGBTQ+, which we were told stands for two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex and questioning communities.

And evidently, June 1 was a very significant day in Hogtown history, as it was the 40th anniversary of Pride Toronto and the 30th anniversary of the city proclaiming Pride Day. (Can you believe it? The City Hall bureaucrats were a decade behind pronouncing their love for Gay Pride! What a bunch of homophobes!)

But we had some questions to ask. For example, what exactly does two-spirit mean?

Now this is a query chock full of danger, folks. After all, remember back in December 2017 when Tucker Carlson of Fox News interviewed Stephen LeDrew?

LeDrew is a former Liberal Party of Canada President, and the interview with Carlson focused on a new gender identifier code that is now being embraced by the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario. You see, LGBT is just sooo lacking in inclusivity. So it was that this federation of smart educators refers to this group with a 15-letter (!) identifier. Namely, LGGBDTTTIQQAAPP.

This lovin’ spoonful of Alphagetti stands for: Lesbian, Gay, Gender-queer, Bisexual, Demi-sexual, Transgender, Transsexual, Two-spirit, Intersex, Queer, Questioning, Asexual, Allies, Pansexual and Polyamorous. (As an aside, do you notice that one letter is conspicuously absent, namely “H” for “heterosexual”? You know, that silly sexual orientation that comprises about 98% of the people on this planet? But I digress…)

Anyway, back in ’17, Carlson asked the query I was hoping to ask at City Hall the other day. Namely: “What does two-spirit mean?”

And the painfully politically correct LeDrew — who was actually standing up for the Alphabet Soup People — responded thusly: “Well, two-spirit, it sounds like someone doesn’t know if they are fish or fowl. They don’t know if they are frick or frack. So, they are clearly confused. And you know, again, if you are confused, what better place to go than to be at school.”

Yikes!

Alas, at the time, LeDrew was a Bell Media personality. But after this interview aired, LeDrew was soon fired by Bell Media for his analysis of two-spirit. (Apparently, there’s no such thing as “confused” people in the LGGBDTTTIQQAAPP community!) And to think LeDrew was trying to convince Carlson that free speech was an actual thing in Canada!

In any event, we also had other questions for the master of ceremonies — er, can we still use the word, “master”? Such as: if the “T” in 2SLGBTQ+/LGGBDTTTIQQAAPP stands for “transgender,” then why are there two separate flags being raised: the rainbow flag for the whole pride enchilada and the transgender flag just for the transgender folks? Isn’t that double coverage for the T-people? Or are transgender folk so super-special these days they actually get their own flag? Baffling…

But the thing is, when we got to City Hall, the flag-raising event was roped off for special invitees only (COVID, or something, you understand). So it was that it took place on an upper level of Nathan Phillips Square, which was fenced-off to the great unwashed masses (which presumably included media types like us who might ask the same sort of questions Tucker Carlson was asking four years ago; thus, only polite government-funded Media Party outlets were allowed near the flagpole).

All of which was too bad — and a little exclusionary, don’t you think? After all, according to the City of Toronto, the “Q” in 2SLGBTQ+ stands for “questioning” and I think that as journalists, we’re members of the “questioning community.” That’s what we do, after all: ask questions.

But alas, with Mayor John Tory calling the shots in Hogtown these days, impolite questions are verboten and shall not be uttered within earshot of any LGGBDTTTIQQAAPP folk; so it was that Nathan Phillips Square was essentially “sanitized for your protection” when it came to free speech last Tuesday.

So, hey folks, how are you all digging that whiz-bang “inclusivity” thingy these days?

Two trustees with the Waterloo Catholic District School Board (WRCDSB) left their positions over what one calls the board’s domination by a “newly created religion of Wokeism.”

According to school board chair Melanie Van Alphen, trustee Kevin Dupuis handed in his resignation on Saturday.

Dupuis told the Waterloo Region Record that he had some concerns regarding the recent decision by the board to fly a rainbow flag at its schools for pride month in June.

“The Pride flag is a part of what I feel is happening in our society where we are creating identity politics that makes victims out of absolutely everyone,” said Dupuis.

According to Dupuis, he also has concerns about the notion of “white privilege.”

“It scares me when we are teaching our children to be ashamed of their skin colour,” said Dupuis.

“This is a form of racism in itself … I don’t see how exchanging one form of racism for another benefits anyone.”

Dupuis also stated that the result of identity politics in the school creates division instead of unity.

“If this board wishes to continue down this newly created religion of Wokeism, I will be resigning because I don’t want to have to defend the path that the board has decided to take,” wrote Dupuis in a statement on the matter.

“Identity politics divides our youth into various subcategories of race, ethnicity, religion and gender when we should be uniting everyone as equals and as children of God. We need to provide an environment where everyone feels welcome and not divided by our differences.”

After a push by activists earlier this year, a number of school boards including the WRCDSB voted to raise pride flags for the first time.

Similarly, according to the Cambridge Times councillor Greg Retizel also handed in his resignation with the board on Monday.

“I applaud the sentiment behind flying the flag, I understand a genuine want to bring healing to one of the many marginalized communities in our midst; however, I believe this attempt is misguided,” said Retizel.

“If we are to fly a flag to let people know that all are welcome and respected here I would suggest that we have flags made up with the Sacred Heart of Jesus and devote the month of June to the Sacred Heart.”

Centennial Flame on Parliament Hill to be replaced with “carbon-neutral” alternative

After decades of operation, the Centennial Flame on Parliament Hill will be replaced with a flame that runs on “carbon-neutral” gas.

First reported by Blacklock’s Reporter, the Department of Public Works recently disclosed that the natural gas fixture of the Centennial Flame will be replaced by one that runs on bio-methane. The change is currently underway.

The department says the flame produces 38 tonnes of carbon emissions per year. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the average car produces 4.6 tonnes.

Despite the Trudeau government’s green agenda and implementation of a carbon tax, Canada’s emissions have increased every year since the Paris Agreement in 2016.

In 2019, Canada produced 730 megatonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, an increase of one megatonne over 2018.

Globally, Canada accounts for roughly 1.5% of global carbon emissions. In comparison, China’s pollution surpasses the combined emissions of the developed world — 27% of all carbon emissions.

The Centennial Flame has operated near-continuously since 1966 using natural gas. Every year, several thousand dollars are collected from coins thrown into the fountain below the flame and donated to charity.

The Department of Public Works says the fountain and bronze crests of the provinces and territories around it will not be altered, with only the natural gas fixture being replaced.

“The amount of natural gas used to keep the flame burning on average in the last five years was 105,364 cubic metres annually at a rate of 23¢ per cubic metre,” staff wrote.

“The amount of natural gas consumed annually, and the associated emissions, fluctuate from year to year.”

The Centennial Flame was first lit on December 31, 1966 to begin celebrations of the hundredth anniversary of Confederation.

“The flame should become the symbol of our first centennial year and should not be extinguished,” Then-prime minister Lester B. Pearson said at the lighting ceremony.

“Let the world know this is Canada’s year in history.”

Liberal MPs are filibustering committee meetings to avoid answering questions on their handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and other matters prior to the end of the parliamentary session.

According to the Globe and Mail, several committees have been delayed by Liberal committee members including the health committee and the defence committee.

One request by opposition members for documents relating to the government’s handling of the pandemic only produced 8,400 items despite claims by the federal government that over a million relevant documents were flagged for the request.

“Where are the other 992,000?” asked New Democrat MP Don Davies.

During a recent health committee meeting, Liberal MPs filibustered a proposed schedule for the remaining seven meetings before the parliamentary session is over.

Additionally, during a defence committee meeting, Liberal MPs pushed to block a chief aide to Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan from testifying. Similarly, a motion by the opposition to produce a report by June 9 was also delayed by the Liberals.

Opposition MPs have accused Sajjan of covering up allegations made against retired Gen. Jonathan Vance after he refused to see evidence regarding the matter when first informed about the issue in 2018.

The delay-tactics are in line with a trend by the Liberals to use the parliamentary process as a way to avoid accountability.

At the height of the WE Charity controversy, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau abruptly prorogued parliament effectively ending a committee investigation into the Liberal government’s handling of the $900 million federal student service grant.

A procedure and house affairs committee meeting was also filibustered by Liberal committee members after opposition MPs asked for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to testify on why he prorogued parliament ahead of the 2019 election.

At the time, Trudeau insisted that his decision to prorogue was the “opposite” of what the Harper government did.

While in opposition, Trudeau criticized former prime minister Stephen Harper, going so far as promising that future prime ministers would have to explain why they decided to prorogue.
