Well that's been going on for a while.
I always wondered why the "Fall of Rome' supposedly took place approx. year ~500? But there was never any demarcation for that. They just sort of 'faded away?'
It's a continuity error, but when I noticed it as a young scholar it was just a puzzle, and the possibilities, as to why that would (supposedly) be, never clicked. 'Til now.
Of course, no one could answer my questions about it either.
