why should I, A christian, be silent about the intersection between Q and Prayer and faith? Q says we should pray. Don't pray if that does not suit you, but don't tell me to leave that behind when posting.

Here is a prayer:

Islam is used as a means of control, and keeping power. It inhibits free thought, free speech, free markets, etc.

It rests on the assumption that to please God, we need to follow religious rules. He who interprets the rules, gets the power.

The Koran is purported to be the eternal word of God revealed to the final prophet- Mohammed. In other words, it existed prior to the creation of the world. In Arabic. Just as we have it today (the Koran is really only the Koran in Arabic). hard to have anything but a literal interpretation if that is your starting point.

One of the problems Muslims have is that the first Caliph after Mohammed destroyed all the variants of the Koran he could find. And the earliest known Koran is 150 years after the events- far greater time lapse between events are writings than we have with the Christian Bible. Lots can change in 150 years of oral transmission.
