Some of us (like you I think) have eyes to see, and view directly.
Others (like the guy in pb) need to have it explained metaphorically.
Thus, Scripture contains both. Both! Some of us can see both; some of us can only see the shadows on Plato's cave's walls. (I suppose there are some that can only see the truth, and get confused at the metaphors? Don't know of any, but that rounds it out. Well, I guess those that can't see anything; I have been one of those.)
