Miami condo tower collapse that left 11 dead and 151 missing crumbled from bottom up in 'domino effect': Engineer says he warned board in 2018 about 'significant' cracks in parking garage but NOTHING was done

Champlain Towers South collapsed at 1.30am on Thursday in three parts; first the center of the building collapsed from the bottom upwards

The back of that center portion then fell, then the easternmost part of the building came down

Experts who have reviewed video of the collapse say the bottom-up theory is likely and could have been down to spalling in the parking garage

They said it is likely the steel in those columns rusted, compromising how much weight they could hold

Frank Morabito, an engineer who was hired by the condo board association, identified such spalling in 2018

On Monday, he released a statement saying he warned the board they needed to make changes for 'the safety of residents'

The repairs would have cost $12million - the building planned to do them this year as part of its 40-year- recertification

Morabito said he was 'deeply troubled' by the collapse and was working with the authorities

The condo board is made up of just seven members, five of whom lived in the building, and who are all volunteers - one of them is among the missing

10 people have been confirmed dead and 151 remain missing; bodies were pulled from the rubble on Monday

Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg, 73, surrenders to Manhattan DA Cy Vance at 6.30am on tax indictment due to be unsealed later today

Trump is 'thrilled' with Allen Weisselberg's indictment because 'witch hunt' will hurt 'Sleepy Joe' and his lawyers say charges are a 'scorched earth bid to harm former president' as CFO surrenders

Weisselberg, accompanied by his lawyer, Mary E. Mulligan, walked into the Lower Manhattan building to the DA's office at about 6.20am on Thursday

It's reported he will appear in court today with other Trump Organization reps

The company described him as a pawn in an effort to harm the former president

'This is not justice; this is politics,' said the Trump Organization

On Wednesday it emerged prosecutors were looking at cash bonuses as they examine whether employee benefits were properly declared

Trump won't be personally charged in DA's first case against his organization

The former president called the DA's probe 'a continuation of the greatest Witch Hunt of all time,' in a lengthy, rambling statement

Charges relate to alleged failures to pay taxes on corporate benefits and perks

Thousands of Racing Pigeons Across United Kingdom Mysteriously Vanish

June 29, 2021

Pigeon racing enthusiasts throughout the United Kingdom are scratching their heads over a mysterious turn of events wherein thousands of birds vanished during different races that took place on the same day. The very weird case reportedly unfolded on Saturday, June 19th as approximately four dozen events were being held in various communities across the UK. The competitions feature specially-trained homing pigeons that are released with the goal of traveling over a considerable distance to a proverbial finish line. On this particular weekend, however, things took a bizarre turn in what one enthusiast reportedly described as "one of the very worst ever racing days in our history."

It is believed that around 250,000 birds were released during the different events that day and, strangely, only an estimated ten percent of the pigeons ever returned to their respective owners. One bewildered trainer who participated in a race lamented that "of the 1,400 that went out, only about 200 to 300 made it home." Although Dene Simpson initially thought that perhaps the disappearance of the birds was an isolated incident, he quickly realized that the entire pigeon racing community was talking about something strange that had occurred that day. "When we looked on social media later on," the trainer explained, "we saw that lots of other federations around the UK had experienced something similar."

To that end, approximately 5,000 pigeons are believed to have gone missing from a different race in England, while a trainer in another community lamented that around 300 of the birds had vanished during an event held at the same time. All told, a staggering number of the animals are believed to have been lost over the course of the day and their heartbroken trainers are at a loss to explain what could have happened.

Since homing pigeons rely on the Earth's magnetic field for guidance, it is suspected that some kind of solar event may have disrupted their natural navigation system. This would seem to be bolstered by the fact that some of the birds have since returned, while others have been turned up in unexpected locations like Holland and Majorca.
