Pelosi did that trip just after she became Speaker of the House. It was kind of an 'in your face' in the direction of Bush (W) trip; seeking to boost her profile.
Not sure about the Lurch meeting.
I'm going to guess Q's post means Assad is moving into the Trump camp.
The D's didn't deliver for him, rather only caused chaos.
Trump, OTOH, seems to be on the right path to a stable middle east and Assad may believe playing ball with Trump will be the catalyst for peace in Syria. So, full circle means Assad is changing teams again.
