Children to be included in NSW vaccine rollout amid fight against Delta strain

COVID-19 vaccinations for children have been flagged as a necessary part of the fight against the Delta strain in New South Wales.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian revealed today that children and "younger adolescents" would be included in the state's vaccine rollout, but that dose shortage was still an issue.

"We have two more large vaccination hubs open throughout the state so we have plenty of access points now throughout NSW," she said.

"What we don't have is the doses of the vaccine, which we understand will be arriving in larger quantities in mid to late September.

"In relation to our target, 10 million jabs or 80 percent of the adult population - that is 60 percent of the population all around.

"What we have seen with Delta is that younger people are getting it.

"That is why vaccination, in relation to the Delta strain, won't necessarily just mean adults, which is where the 10 million jabs came from, it will also mean younger adolescents and younger children."

But NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said despite the need to vaccinate children against COVID-19, the program would continue to work "in sequence".

"Concurrently, we are looking at the next group we want to vaccinate," she said.

"I think we need to remember we have to prioritise by age and underlying conditions.

"When there is no vaccine constraint, people who want access will be able to get access.

"We are not at that point at this time. My clear message is, if you have underlying health conditions, if you are over 60, call your GP."

NSW recorded 98 new cases of COVID-19 today, with 20 of them having been infectious in the community.

Ms Berejiklian would not confirm whether or not Greater Sydney's lockdown would lift on the prescribed date of July 30, and said some level of restrictions would remain until the state was sufficiently vaccinated.

Runaway Texas Dems to Hold Week-Long Virtual Conference on Voting Rights, No Plans to Leave DC Soon

A number of Democrats from the Texas state legislature fled to Washington to attempt to prevent a Republican-led bill that involves a number of additional voting requirements. The Dems spoiled the needed two-thirds quorum for the House of Representatives to vote on the controversial voting legislation.

A group of Texas Democratic lawmakers have no plans to return to their state in the near future and will instead carry out an online conference to discuss their fight against the Republican voting draft law, considered by some to be voting obstruction that targets certain social groups, the Washington Post reported on Sunday.

According to labour leader and civil rights activist Dolores Huerta, the conference, involving lawmakers and activists, will begin Monday and is expected to last through the next week.

Democratic members of Texas House, including Barbara Jackson-Lee and Joaquin Castro, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) along with Mi Familia Vota, an organization that aims to encourage Latino voter activity, are expected to take part in the conference said to highlight voting practices proposed by Democratic lawmakers.

“With this conference, we will help prepare our voting rights champions for the fight ahead and we will show them that they aren’t alone in defending our democracy and fighting for us all,” Hector Sanchez, the CEO of Mi Familia Vota, said in a statement. “With COVID-19 protocols in place, this conference is the next step in our fight to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights act and the For the People Act.”

Texas Voting Reform

State Republicans, who currently control the two-chamber Texas legislature, are struggling to introduce additional securing requirements for future elections. In particular, they propose protections for poll watchers, mandatory ID verification for mail-in voting, video surveillance systems to livestream the larger polling stations and voting hours from 6 am to 10 pm instead of the round-the-clock work of polling stations.

In the 150-seat Texas House of Representatives, Republicans have a solid 83-member majority, against 67 Democrats. For a vote to take place, the presence of two-thirds of the chamber - a quorum - is required.

In total, 57 Democratic lawmakers left the state and plan to remain in Washington DC until August, to await the expiration of an emergency Texas Congress session that began on 8 July and will last for 30 days, at which time the restrictive voting draft laws will be dropped from the agenda.

Replying to the report, a US State Department spokesperson said, "In coordination with our partners across the US Government, we are vigorously investigating reports of possible unexplained health incidents among the US Embassy Vienna community or wherever they are reported."

What is the Havana Syndrome?

The initial wave of the “mysterious energy disease" began in 2016 and affected US personnel including diplomats, CIA agents and troops in Cuba, China and Russia, according to CNN. Since then, the Federal agencies in the US have been struggling to find a cause or reason behind the symptoms including vertigo, headaches, nausea and sometimes a “piercing directional noise." While these symptoms already sound disturbing, many people who contract the Havana syndrome witness lingering symptoms including traumatic brain injury and have been forced to retire from services.

Earlier in May, at least two officials on the National Security Council were attacked on the south side of the White House, reporting absurd sensory experiences and illness symptoms, as it remains for the US Intelligence Community to determine who has been behind these "mystery energy attacks".

Earlier this year, the US Senate Intelligence Committee leaders had vowed to get to the bottom of strange illness-causing energy-directed attacks, adding that the Biden administration had been briefed about the reoccurring incidents. “For nearly five years, we have been aware of reports of mysterious attacks on United States Government personnel in Havana, Cuba and around the world," Sens. Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said in a joint statement." This pattern of attacking our fellow citizens serving our government appears to be increasing. The Senate Intelligence Committee intends to get to the bottom of this," the statement continued.

Maricopa County Elections Official DEMANDED Pens Before the Elections And SHARPIES On Election Day

A newly released email from Maricopa County Elections Assistant Director Kelly Dixon confirms the Sharpiegate scandal.

We learned on Wednesday that the Arizona audit discovered ballots were printed incorrectly and on thin paper stock that allows for ink bleed-throughs.

In an email dated October 22, 2020, Dixon writes to notify election clerks that they must issue ballpoint pens every day prior to Election Day.

“We NEED to use markers on Election Day,” she writes.

Why did they only use markers on Election Day?

Trump supporters voted in overwhelming numbers on Election Day, in person, due to the concerns about mail-in ballot fraud. It looks like they took the necessary measures to suppress these votes as well.

Queensland anaesthetist charged after alleged sexual assault

A Queensland anaesthetist has been charged by police after he allegedly touched and photographed multiple women without their knowledge.

Police allege the man inappropriately touched several women aged in their 20s while they were unconscious during his work tenure in Toowoomba between

The man has now been charged with three counts each of sexual assault and recordings in breach of privacy.

He is due to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on August 10.

Police have also appealed to anyone who thinks they may have been affected in a similar matter by the man or has further information to contact them on 131 444.

Former ministers Eddie Obeid and Ian MacDonald found guilty after year-long trial

Two former NSW government ministers who faced a criminal trial over a mining exploration licence and a $30 million windfall have discovered their fate.

Former NSW government ministers Ian Macdonald and Eddie Obeid and his son Moses have been found guilty of conspiring in a scheme over a mining exploration licence that resulted in a $30 million windfall for the Obeid family.

The trio were each charged with conspiracy to commit misconduct in public office and faced a year-long trial in the NSW Supreme Court before Justice Elizabeth Fullerton.

The trial centred on the granting of a coal exploration licence at Mount Penny in the Bylong Valley in 2009.

The area encompassed by the licence included a large property called Cherrydale Park, purchased by the Obeids in November 2007.
