A Muslim imam in France has been handed a six-month suspended sentence for an anti-Semitic rant that he delivered in a sermon that was uncovered and publicized by the Middle East Media Research Institute.

MEMRI monitors, translates, interprets and comments on media productions in the Middle East, and in 2018 found and exposed Toulouse imam Mohamed Tatai's sermon.

The comments were found in Tatai's Decemer 2017 sermon which was delivered at the En Nour mosque in Toulouse.

About the trial, France 3 explained, "Mohamed Tataiat [aka Mohamed Tatai], the imam of the Empalot mosque in Toulouse [France], appeared on Tuesday, June 29, before the criminal court for 'incitement to racial hatred' – in the wake of his December 2017 sermon [exposed by MEMRI]… This has to do with a sermon delivered by a Toulouse Muslim cleric."

The explanation continued, "In a video, dated December 15, 2017, and revealed by the MEMRI website (acronym for Middle East Media Research Institute), the imam of the Great Mosque of Toulouse reportedly referred in Arabic to a hadith – a word from the prophet Mohammad – which reportedly calls on Muslims to kill Jews: 'The Jews will hide behind the rocks and the trees and the rocks and the trees will say: Muslim, servant of Allah, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him.'… These images were denounced for their antisemitism in late June 2018."

The video was revealed in June 2018, and at the end of that year the prefect of Haute-Garonne was in contact with the Toulouse public prosecutor's office and officials there opened an investigation.

It was the French publication La Depeche that confirmed Tatai's six-month suspended sentence.

His lawyers had claimed that he had "always been on good terms with representatives of the Jewish community [and] has largely explained the meaning of his preaching and the total exclusion of any incitement to hatred" in it

Children to be included in NSW vaccine rollout amid fight against Delta strain

COVID-19 vaccinations for children have been flagged as a necessary part of the fight against the Delta strain in New South Wales.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian revealed today that children and "younger adolescents" would be included in the state's vaccine rollout, but that dose shortage was still an issue.

"We have two more large vaccination hubs open throughout the state so we have plenty of access points now throughout NSW," she said.

"What we don't have is the doses of the vaccine, which we understand will be arriving in larger quantities in mid to late September.

"In relation to our target, 10 million jabs or 80 percent of the adult population - that is 60 percent of the population all around.

"What we have seen with Delta is that younger people are getting it.

"That is why vaccination, in relation to the Delta strain, won't necessarily just mean adults, which is where the 10 million jabs came from, it will also mean younger adolescents and younger children."

But NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said despite the need to vaccinate children against COVID-19, the program would continue to work "in sequence".

"Concurrently, we are looking at the next group we want to vaccinate," she said.

"I think we need to remember we have to prioritise by age and underlying conditions.

"When there is no vaccine constraint, people who want access will be able to get access.

"We are not at that point at this time. My clear message is, if you have underlying health conditions, if you are over 60, call your GP."

NSW recorded 98 new cases of COVID-19 today, with 20 of them having been infectious in the community.

Ms Berejiklian would not confirm whether or not Greater Sydney's lockdown would lift on the prescribed date of July 30, and said some level of restrictions would remain until the state was sufficiently vaccinated.

ISIS terrorists inflicted heavy losses on Nigerian government forces in two recent attacks in the northeastern state of Borno.

The first attack, which took place on July 13, saw the terrorists attacking several posts of local pro-government forces near the town of Lambwa.

Four fighters and a civilian, allegedly a spy for the government, were killed by the terrorists. During the attack, the terrorists also captured a pickup truck and set several houses on fire.

Runaway Texas Dems to Hold Week-Long Virtual Conference on Voting Rights, No Plans to Leave DC Soon

A number of Democrats from the Texas state legislature fled to Washington to attempt to prevent a Republican-led bill that involves a number of additional voting requirements. The Dems spoiled the needed two-thirds quorum for the House of Representatives to vote on the controversial voting legislation.

A group of Texas Democratic lawmakers have no plans to return to their state in the near future and will instead carry out an online conference to discuss their fight against the Republican voting draft law, considered by some to be voting obstruction that targets certain social groups, the Washington Post reported on Sunday.

According to labour leader and civil rights activist Dolores Huerta, the conference, involving lawmakers and activists, will begin Monday and is expected to last through the next week.

Democratic members of Texas House, including Barbara Jackson-Lee and Joaquin Castro, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) along with Mi Familia Vota, an organization that aims to encourage Latino voter activity, are expected to take part in the conference said to highlight voting practices proposed by Democratic lawmakers.

“With this conference, we will help prepare our voting rights champions for the fight ahead and we will show them that they aren’t alone in defending our democracy and fighting for us all,” Hector Sanchez, the CEO of Mi Familia Vota, said in a statement. “With COVID-19 protocols in place, this conference is the next step in our fight to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights act and the For the People Act.”

Texas Voting Reform

State Republicans, who currently control the two-chamber Texas legislature, are struggling to introduce additional securing requirements for future elections. In particular, they propose protections for poll watchers, mandatory ID verification for mail-in voting, video surveillance systems to livestream the larger polling stations and voting hours from 6 am to 10 pm instead of the round-the-clock work of polling stations.

In the 150-seat Texas House of Representatives, Republicans have a solid 83-member majority, against 67 Democrats. For a vote to take place, the presence of two-thirds of the chamber - a quorum - is required.

In total, 57 Democratic lawmakers left the state and plan to remain in Washington DC until August, to await the expiration of an emergency Texas Congress session that began on 8 July and will last for 30 days, at which time the restrictive voting draft laws will be dropped from the agenda.

Austrian authorities said they were investigating reports that the US diplomats in Vienna have experienced symptoms of mystery illness known as Havana Syndrome.

Austrian authorities said they were investigating reports that US diplomats in Vienna have experienced symptoms of a mystery illness known as Havana Syndrome. In a statement released on Sunday, the country’s Federal Ministry of European and International Affairs said that they take the reports very “seriously” and according to their role as the host state, they have been working on the US authorities to find a “joint solution.” In the same statement, the ministry added that the “security” of the diplomats dispatched to Austria and their families was their utmost priority.

What did the US say?

Replying to the report, a US State Department spokesperson said, "In coordination with our partners across the US Government, we are vigorously investigating reports of possible unexplained health incidents among the US Embassy Vienna community or wherever they are reported."

What is the Havana Syndrome?

The initial wave of the “mysterious energy disease" began in 2016 and affected US personnel including diplomats, CIA agents and troops in Cuba, China and Russia, according to CNN. Since then, the Federal agencies in the US have been struggling to find a cause or reason behind the symptoms including vertigo, headaches, nausea and sometimes a “piercing directional noise." While these symptoms already sound disturbing, many people who contract the Havana syndrome witness lingering symptoms including traumatic brain injury and have been forced to retire from services.

Earlier in May, at least two officials on the National Security Council were attacked on the south side of the White House, reporting absurd sensory experiences and illness symptoms, as it remains for the US Intelligence Community to determine who has been behind these "mystery energy attacks".

Earlier this year, the US Senate Intelligence Committee leaders had vowed to get to the bottom of strange illness-causing energy-directed attacks, adding that the Biden administration had been briefed about the reoccurring incidents. “For nearly five years, we have been aware of reports of mysterious attacks on United States Government personnel in Havana, Cuba and around the world," Sens. Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said in a joint statement." This pattern of attacking our fellow citizens serving our government appears to be increasing. The Senate Intelligence Committee intends to get to the bottom of this," the statement continued.

Arizona Senate President Karen Fann, a Republican, said the state Senate doesn’t have the ability to recall electors for the Nov. 3, 2020, election, after a fellow Republican lawmaker called for new elections.

Fann told One America News Network (OANN), which has been covering the audit of Maricopa County, that the upper chamber has the ability to provide auditors with the materials they need—including through the use of subpoenas—but the certification of electors is a different matter.

“The Senate body—we do not have the authority to do that. So, this is what we have said, and I want to make this very clear on the record,” the Republican state leader said on July 16.

Fann’s comments came as former President Donald Trump issued a statement declaring that the audit revealed there were irregularities and fraud that would have swayed the election in his favor last year. On July 15, the Senate held a hearing in the midst of a months-long review carried out by Florida-based tech firm Cyber Ninjas and teams told lawmakers they discovered discrepancies.

Doug Logan, CEO of Cyber Ninjas, told senators that auditors couldn’t find any record of Maricopa County sending more than 74,000 mail-in ballots and also discovered that around 18,000 people voted, but were taken off voter rolls “soon after the election.” He also noted that there were “11,326 people who were not on the voter rolls on Nov. 7, 2020, but appeared on the rolls on Dec. 4, 2020, and 3,981 people who voted after registering after Oct. 15, 2020.”

After the hearing, some Republican senators called for Arizona’s 11 electors—who went for Biden—to be recalled.

“A new election must be conducted. Arizona’s electors must not be awarded fraudulently & we need to get this right,” Sen. Wendy Rogers, a Republican, wrote in a pair of Twitter posts last week.

But Fann, in her OANN interview, said that the Senate in this situation only has “the ability to subpoena information because we make laws,” noting that they’re “entitled to have the information to determine how to write those laws.”

“That’s why we are successful in court, and that’s what we’re doing. It’s all about election integrity. It’s not about the Trump–Biden race. It’s not about the Kelly–Martha McSally race,” Fann remarked, referring to the 2020 presidential election that saw the inauguration of President Joe Biden, as well as the U.S. Senate race that was won by Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.).

Following the hearing, Maricopa County officials and Democrats such as Secretary of State Katie Hobbs claimed that the audit team and Senate Republicans are incompetent and said their findings shouldn’t be taken seriously.

For months, Maricopa County executives and Republican senators were embroiled in a legal tug-of-war over the county’s ballots and election equipment. Ultimately, a judge ruled that the Senate does indeed have the subpoena power to carry out the audit, which began in April.

Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Chairman Jack Sellers, a Republican, said in a statement after the hearing that “what we heard today represents an alternate reality that has veered out of control since the November General Election” and “Senate leadership should be ashamed they broadcast the half-baked theories of the ‘Deep Rig’ crowd to the world today.”

Rogers’ office didn’t respond to a request for comment by press time.

A newly released email from Maricopa County Elections Assistant Director Kelly Dixon confirms the Sharpiegate scandal.
