Historic Vatican trial may change Catholic Church’s finances forever.
>Ten Catholic clergymen and laypeople will answer charges of corruption and fraud from Vatican judges on Tuesday (July 27) in preparation for the largest trial ever held in the city-state and the first in memory to put a cardinal in the dock.
>[…] the deals that led to five arrests of lay Vatican workers in October 2019 and the indictment of Cardinal Antonio Becciu earlier this year began in 2013, when Enrico Crasso, an investor whose Centurion Global Fund managed part of the Vatican’s portfolio, introduced Becciu to the Swiss-Italian financier Raffaele Mincione.
>It was Pope Francis on April 30, with a Motu Proprio (a decision taken on his own initiative), who established that even cardinals and bishops can be tried by the ordinary tribunal, made up of lay judges, but always after the approval of the Pope himself. Previously they were only judged by a jury made up of other cardinals. The Pontiff’s assent to the Becciu trial, on the major financial scandal that has involved the Vatican in recent years, had arrived in mid-June.
"Motu Propio".

>[..] Becciu was deputy secretary of state for general affairs, given responsibility for handling hundreds of millions of euros. He is charged with five counts of embezzlement, two of abuse of office, and one count of inducing a witness to perjury. He is also charged with allegedly funneling money and contracts to companies or charitable organizations controlled by his brothers in Sardinia.
What's happening in Sardinia now?
Anon always wondered how the cleansing of the Vatican would be done without splashing too much dirt on the Faith. The Vatican Bank, which in practice is a separate entity from the Roman Catholic Church, was taken from those evildoers long ago. So maybe here we go.
These are interesting times for sure; landmark news here and there and everywhere.
Managing the Faith of Nations (or Empires) is crucial and an enormous task, "as the world turns".
We need to know the truth, but indeed we need to be able to move forward (could not find the exact drop now).
