In 2009,Pfizer became one of the first companies to participate in the Advance Market Commitment (AMC), a pioneering partnership between Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and donor governments to make vaccines available to infants and children in least-developed countries. Further,Pfizer partnered with Gavi and UNICEFto provide humanitarian relief to Rwanda and Gambia, enabling these governments to launch an additional national immunization program.
Since March 2010, Pfizer has been working with Gavi, an international organization that brings together public and private sectors to create access to vaccines for infants and young children through the AMC. The AMC provides vaccines to the worldâs most resource-constrained countries on an accelerated, affordable, and sustainable basis. Nicaragua was the first Gavi-eligible country in the developing world to launch an immunization program under the AMC. By December 2011, 16 countries launched an immunization program under the AMC.

Three Suspects â Including Ex-Priest â Busted on Child Sex Trafficking Charges
Three Michigan men were arrested on Friday for allegedly planning to meet up with teenagers for sex.
The Chippewa County Sheriffâs Office said in a statement that Aaron Nowicki, 37, Benjamin Simpkin, 41, and Micah Rickerd, 23, were apprehended during a daylong operation at a hotel, where they planned to meet the victims. The three suspects spoke online with the undercover agents, who were masquerading as minors, before the meeting, according to WPBN.
Nowicki, Simpkin, Rickerd allegedly all believed they were meeting with children 15 or younger.
Police said Nowicki is a non-practicing Catholic priest who intended to have sex with a 15-year-old boy. Following his arrest, the Diocese of Marquette explained in a statement that Nowicki resigned as a priest in January 2019 due to âallegations of serious, but not criminal, sexual misconduct with a vulnerable adult.â
The Diocese reported the allegations to Michigan Attorney General.
Nowicki, Simpkin, Rickerdâs bonds were set at $100,000.

Gazelka won't be drawn on Carnahan resignation calls in wake of strategist's child sex trafficking arrest
Meanwhile, Carnahan has challenged the GOP executive board to call a confidence vote.
While the Minnesota GOP has been roiled by controversy over the past week, with chairwoman Jennifer Carnahan the subject of calls to resign, there has been mostly silence from the state's top elected Republicans.
While there have been statements condemning child sex trafficking in the wake of Anton Lazzaro's indictment, there have been few such comments on the future of Carnahan â who is facing calls to resign from some party members for her close links to Lazzaro and her response to his indictment, and criticism for the way she has run the state party amid allegations of discord, harassment, and financial mismanagement within the party's upper echelons, which she denies.
The likes of U.S. Reps. Michelle Fischbach (R-CD7), Tom Emmer (R-CD4), Pete Stauber (R-CD8), have not commented publicly on the future of Carnahan, who is married to Rep. Paul Hagedorn (R-CD1).
Breaking his silence on Monday was Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka, issued a brief post on Twitter in which he stated any decisions on Carnahan's future should be left to the relevant party authorities.
"There are allegations that have come to light regarding the leadership at the state party. I fully trust the executive board and state central delegates to find a path forward for our party. Itâs very important that we look at all of the facts before we make any decisions," he tweeted, before issuing an addendum a few hours later that backed Lazzaro's arrest, and decried sex trafficking.
The comment by Gazelka, who is reported to be mulling a run for governor in 2022 and as such would require the backing of the party in the event he wins, is in marked contrast to comments he made when complaints of sexual harassment were recently made within the Senate DFL Party, with a former staffer alleging that her complaint against another staff member went un-investigated.
At the time, Gazelka and his fellow Senate Republican leaders called for an independent investigation to get to the bottom of the allegations, but in the instance of his own party, he believes it should be handled internally by the GOP board and delegates.
While Gazelka has issued a brief statement, House Minority Leader Kurt Daudt has not commented on Carnahan's position, only to debunk a claim that he was working to keep her as chairwoman.
Carnahan challenges party executive to call confidence vote
Since the indictment was released, the Minnesota GOP has sought to distance itself from Lazzaro, with Carnahan on Monday depicting him as primarily a donor to Republican causes.
This is despite Lazzaro having been involved in at least state campaigns â Carnahan's run for party chair in 2017 and Lacy Johnson's 5th District run in 2020 â being a semi-regular talking head guest on FOX New, hosting a political podcast with Carnahan in 2019/20 called #TruthMatters, and attending Carnahan's wedding in 2018 to Rep. Jim Hagedorn.

Carnahan does seem to acknowledge that relationship in her statement, but argues that "there is no way for us to know the personal background of every contributor to the party â even those donors with whom we have a regular and consistent relationship," again ignoring that Lazzaro seems to have had a greater role in the party in recent years than as solely a donor.
Nonetheless, a defiant Carnahan challenged the GOP executive board to take a vote of confidence or no confidence in her, knowing that they would need a vote of 10-5 to remove her as state party chairwoman. She continues to claim she is the victim of a "coup" attempt, as well as being the subject of "misinformation."
On Monday, the Minnesota GOP also took the unusual step of publishing an extensive statement defending Carnahan from Ronald Huetll, Jr., the party's finance, compliance, and HR director.
He claims the pressure being exerted on Carnahan currently is "unethical and untruthful" and those who engage in it â which includes a growing number of elected Republican lawmakers including Sens. Karin Housley and Roger Chamberlain â "should be ashamed of themselves."

Inside rock star sex predator allegations: From Elvis to David Bowie to Bob Dylan
As the music industry reels over a bombshell lawsuit accusing Bob Dylan of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old, some canât help but recall the infamous, horrific rumors about many a rock star whose alleged dirty deeds destroyed the lives of star-struck young girls.
âThese [rock stars] have exceptional privilege and are used to getting what they want â when they want,â Jackie Fuchs, the former bass guitarist in Joan Jettâs all-girl teenage band the Runaways, exclusively told The Post.
Fuchs â whose stage name was Jackie Fox when she strummed the bottom line on âCherry Bombâ with the band unethically marketed as âjailbait rockâ in the mid-â70s â said the sense of privilege can often extend to sex with vulnerable underage girls and those barely above the age of consent.
âThey see a cute girl and think âI need this to happenâ because their every need is fulfilled. Theyâre attracted to their innocence and itâs easy as theyâre not going to get challenged,â Fuchs, now 61, said.

âTheyâre going to take their pleasure and not have any demands placed on them.â
Dylan, whose representatives deny the claims, has been accused of plying an unnamed tween with drugs and alcohol ahead of the alleged assault in 1965.
Now an entertainment lawyer in Los Angeles, Fuchs noted that, while unproven, the alleged actions of the âBlowinâ in the Windâ crooner canât help but draw attention to a sickening aspect of the music scene.
Fuchs, who claimed in 2015 that she was raped at the age of 16 by the Runawaysâ now deceased manager, Kim Fowley, said exploitation of young fans has been common for decades â along with other demands.

In 1972, when he was 28, the Led Zeppelin guitarist had sex with Lori Maddox, then 14, the same teen who allegedly lost her virginity to Bowie, per a 2015 NPR article.
According to an article earlier this year in the Phoenix New Times, Maddox claims Page had band manager Richard Cole âkidnapâ her and later present her to him like a gift. She said they were at a glitzy restaurant when Page told her he was âgoing to be with me.â When she said no, Cole bundled her out of the venue and told her to âget in the bloody car and, if you move, Iâll have your head.â
According to Maddox, she was driven to a hotel where she was pulled into one of the rooms where Page was waiting. âI told you Iâm gonna have you,â she claims he told her. The musicianâs alleged controlling nature continued and Maddox later said that Page would often keep her locked in a room with a security guard watching her. âI wasnât really allowed to go to very many places with him,â she said.

Gosar Asks Biden Administration: âWhat Is The Plan To Get Our Equipment Back?â
Representative Paul Gosar (R-AZ) is pressing the Biden regime on reports of missing military equipment in Afghanistan.
Amid reports that the Biden regime refused to say whether or not theyâve tried to destroy abandoned military equipment in Afghanistan, Congressman Paul Gosar (R-AZ) is asking what their plans are, according to a new press release.
As National File previously reported, nearly $83 billion of the $145 billion the U.S. government spent trying to rebuild Afghanistan went towards building up and maintaining Afghanistanâs military and police forces. Almost all of the Afghan armyâs equipment has either been captured or destroyed after the army disintegrated in the face of the Taliban advance.
âNo strikes have been conducted in the last 24 hours, but the commander on the ground continues to maintain that capability if required to do so,â Major General Hank Taylor told a reporter, who also asked if the U.S. Military had a plan to repatriate equipment left in Afghanistan. âI donât have information on the second part of the question,â he explained. âSo thereâs no, no U.S. action is being taken to prevent equipment from falling into the hands of the Taliban by destroying it or anything else?â the reporter followed up. âI donât have the answer to that question,â the general affirmed.

Gavin Newsom sells house for $5.9M ahead of California recall election
Gavin Newsom is not ready to go home â nor can he, now that heâs sold his house.
The 53-year-old Democrat sold his pre-governorship mansion outside San Francisco for $5.895 million in May, property records show.
He moved forward with the sale months after it became clear he would face a recall election this fall.
He first listed the five-bedroom, five-bathroom home spanning 4,000 square feet in January 2019 for $5,995,000 after he took office and moved to Sacramento, according to Realtor.com.
It did not sell and quietly slipped off the market â until it sold off-market in May above its most recent asking price of $5,695,000.
Governor Newsom and his wife Jennifer purchased the home for $2.225 million in 2011 and put at least $330,000 into remodeling the house, Marin County permit application records show.

Cuomo uses final days as gov to commute, pardon 10 felons â including 3 tied to killings
Days after giving two weeksâ notice that he would resign his office amid a serial sexual harassment scandal Gov. Andrew Cuomo is using the unprecedented lame-duck period to grant clemency and pardons to 10 felons â including three convicts tied to killings.
Cuomo, a three-term Democrat forced to resign to avoid impeachment, said, âOne of the foundational promises of New York State is that of equal justice, and equal compassion, for all under the law.â
âToday Iâm proud to help fulfill governmentâs unique responsibility to harness the power of redemption, encourage those who have made mistakes to engage in meaningful rehabilitation, and empower everyone to work toward a better future for themselves and their families.â
Cuomo commuted the sentence of Nehru Gumbs, 36, who was convicted of first-degree manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon and assault in 2005 â crimes
Gumbs was fingered for the brutal shooting death of an innocent bystander heading to his Canarsie home from a Midnight church service on New Yearâs Eve 2004.
Gumbs has served 17-and-a-half years out of a 25-year sentence. He has served as the youth counselor at Sing Sing prison and earned an associateâs degree from Mercy College and is pursuing a job as a plumber.
He also granted clemency to Jon-Adrian Velasquez, 45, who was convicted of second-degree murder and attempted murder, three counts of robbery in 1999.
Velazquez was sentenced in the shooting death of retired police officer Albert Ward at an illegal gambling hall in Harlem in 1998.
Velazquez claimed he was wrongfully convicted.
His plea to have his conviction overturned was championed by actor Martin Sheen, who had met with him in prison and appeared at press conferences on his behalf.
Velasquez has served 23-and-a-half years out of a 25-year-to-life sentence.
After entering the prison system, he enrolled in a college program through Hudson Link and earned an Associateâs Degree in 2012 and a Bachelorâs Degree in 2014, graduating with honors from both programs. He works as a teaching fellow for a Columbia University professor.
Velazquez also helped establish âVoices From Within,â an educational initiative combating gun violence through the voices of convicts. The program has been used by the NYC Mayorâs Office of Criminal Justice, the Department of Probation, and NYPD as an educational tool, the governor said.
