Easier for a 'man' to accept rejection if he believes the woman isnt a woman, much easier than accepting the man isnt a man.

The concept of two highly heterosexual beings (dream state, yes) loving each other across time & space in a mirrored affect, is a little too much for a twisted psyche to try and grasp.
