Fishy story. It's not like they were in a storm or in the ocean. Reminds of when William Colby died in a canoe "accident".

OOLOGAH LAKE, Oklahoma - Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers recovered the body of a 72-year-old Owasso Doctor and former state representative who drowned on Oologah Lake Tuesday.

It happened just after 4 p.m. near Redbud Marina.

Troopers said Dr. Derby and his wife launched their boat at Redbud Marina, but had trouble starting it up. They said the boat started drifting and Dr. Derby tried to swim after the boat without a life jacket.

“They launched the boat here at Redbud Marina, as they came off the trailer it wouldn’t crank so the victim's wife is trying to crank it, it starts drifting so the victim swims after the boat to try to keep it from drifting further away,” said Trooper Ross Strickland.

ROCK POINT, Md. (AP) _ Former CIA Director William Colby was missing and presumed drowned Monday after what the sheriff said was an apparent boating accident near Colby’s vacation home.

Colby’s canoe was found on a sandbar Sunday a quarter-mile from his home on the Wicomico River, and divers searched the rough and murky water for the 76-year-old former spy master.
