That’s what I want to believe. I’m done beating on who’s in charge (we must deal with that later), I want to see all our citizens brought out of Afghanistan alive, safe and sound. There are always options. As I’ve said many times, the best plan gives you the most options right up to the last possible minute. That is, if you have a plan. Thank, as often as possible, our young men and women serving in our military, especially those now deployed to Afghanistan and may God help and protect those Americans still in harm’s way. FBI agents reportedly raided the homes of two Detroit city councilmembers Wednesday morning, as part of a federal corruption investigation.

As many as 100 Afghan evacuees flown out of war-torn Kabul are on intelligence agency watch lists, a United States government official warned on Tuesday as it was revealed one passenger flown out to Qatar has potential ties to ISIS.

The Afghans, potential candidates for Special Immigration Visas (SIV), were flagged as possible matches to intelligence agency watch lists by the Defense Department’s Automated Biometric Identification System, an official with the U.S. government told Defense One.

The Afghan who has potential ties to ISIS was detected by security screeners at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar after they were evacuated from Kabul Airport, another official told the outlet. There have been 6,000 Afghans taken to the airbase.

‘Intelligence, law enforcement, and counterterrorism professionals are conducting screening and security vetting for all SIV applicants and other vulnerable Afghans before they are allowed into the United States,’ a State Department spokesperson told DailyMail.com.

‘We are surging resources to evaluate each case and process these as efficiently as possible to protect homeland security.’

The State Department declined to confirm to DailyMail.com whether any immigrants have been flagged for having ties to ISIS, and it is unclear if they were processed before or after leaving Kabul.

Election Reform Group VoterGA Sues State of Georgia to Ban Dominion Voting Technology in State Elections

Election reform Group VoterGA sued the State of Georgia this week seeking a ban on Dominion Voting Systems technology in the state.

VoterGA on Tuesday announced joining with State Rep. Philip Singleton in a legal petition to ban Georgia’s Dominion Democracy Suite 5.5 voting system from state elections.

According to the Baltimore Post Examiner, the voting system has already been declared in violation of Georgia law by the U.S. District Court of Northern Georgia.

The Kemp administration spent over $100 million for the Dominion voting systems in the state back in 2020.

The Washington Examiner reported:

A self-described election integrity group sued the state of Georgia on Tuesday, seeking a ban on the use of Dominion Voting Systems touchscreen ballot-marking technology across the state.

VoterGA, which led a suit against Fulton County for an inspection of 2020 election ballots, asked the Fulton County Superior Court to declare the state’s use of Dominion Democracy Suite 5.5 Ballot Marking Device voting systems a violation of state elections law and to enjoin the officials from administrating future elections with those devices.

Plaintiffs allege Democracy Suite systems fail to comply with the state’s election code, which provides voting systems must “print an elector verifiable paper ballot” and “produce paper ballots which are marked with the elector’s choices in a format readable by the elector.”

The machines in use generate a paper ballot that voters can visually verify, but it also produces a QR code on the paper ballot reflecting the voter’s choices, which cannot be visually verified, according to the lawsuit .

Ballot scanners then read the QR code to determine a voter’s selections, and the “written portion of the paper ballot is not used for counting or re-counting the elector’s intent,” the suit said, alleging a legal violation.

Subscription service OnlyFans has reversed its decision to ban adult content, which the platform is best known for, less than a week after it announced the change in policy.

The un-banning immediately angered some sex workers who likened the reversal to an abusive ex-boyfriend trying to win them back.

OnlyFans – which is used mostly, but not exclusively, by amateur sex workers to sell pornographic content – announced last week that it would prohibit content showing sexual intercourse, masturbation, and other explicit acts, though would still allow general nudity.

On Wednesday, however, the platform announced that it would be suspending its decision to ban pornography.

Far from reassuring sex workers, though, the fresh statement appeared to anger many users who expressed concern about OnlyFans’ flip-flopping.

“Do you honestly think that this is going to bring everyone back?” questioned one person. “They took our hard work, built their notoriety, and then threw us to the curb. No ty.”

“Even the ‘apology’ texts I got from my abusive ex boyfriend sounded better,” another woman protested.

Others claimed that the reversal was “too little too late” and that they had already moved to other platforms which allow pornographic content. OnlyFans – which takes a 20% cut from users – was also criticized for refusing to acknowledge sex workers specifically, instead referring to its largely porn-focused userbase as “creators.”

Israel's PM Bennett Says He Will Continue Covert Attacks Against Iran

A few days ahead of his meeting with President Biden, Israel’s new Prime Minister Naftali Bennett spoke with The New York Times and said he will continue covert attacks against Iran and will oppose any US efforts to revive the nuclear deal, known as the JCPOA.

Israel has a long history of taking covert action against Iran, but Israeli leaders usually aren’t so candid about it. The Times report said that Bennett plans to present Biden with a new "strategic vision" for Iran that includes more "clandestine attacks" on Iran, including what Bennett referred to as "the gray-area stuff."

One of Israel’s recent attacks on Iran targeted the Natanz nuclear facility in April. It coincided with the start of indirect negotiations between the US and Iran to revive the JCPOA and was a clear effort by the Israelis to sabotage the talks.

Another aspect of Bennett’s vision is for Israel to strengthen ties with Arab countries in the region that oppose Iran. Forming an anti-Iran coalition was part of the reason for the Trump administration-brokered Abraham Accords that led to Israel normalizing with some Arab countries, including the UAE and Bahrain.

"What we need to do, and what we are doing, is forming a regional coalition of reasonable Arab countries, together with us, that will fend off and block this expansion and this desire for domination [by Iran]," Bennett said.

Bennett favors many of the same policies as his predecessor Benjamin Netanyahu, but he wants to take a different approach. Netanyahu publicly clashed with the Obama administration when the JCPOA was negotiated in 2015, which Bennett hopes to avoid.

Bennett said he will continue expanding illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank, something the Biden administration says it is against. The Israeli leader also ruled out the idea of peace talks with the Palestinians.

Beijing Threatens "Counterattack" If White House Report On COVID Origins Blames Wuhan Lab Leak

Back in May, President Biden gave the intelligence community 90 days to produce a report on the likely origins of SARS-CoV-2, and the president promised to share the findings with the public, no matter how inflammatory.

Well, the 90-day window is nearly up, and it looks like the intelligence community has made good on its promise. Case in point: the first details of the report have been leaked to the Washington Post, which reported on Wednesday that the ultimate finding is "inconclusive".

This means the administration couldn't find enough evidence to support both of the leading theories: That the virus hopped from an animal to a human, or that the virus leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. While the notion that COVID leaked from a lab was once hyper-sensitive (indeed, Zero Hedge was banned from Twitter for daring to suggest that the WIV played a role in infecting the world with COVID), it's now reportedly become the leading scenario in the eyes of the intelligence community (though they seem unwilling to publicly admit this).

WaPo says the Intelligence community will seek to de-classify the report in the coming days, meaning it will likely dominate the news cycle later in the week.

Biden asked America's spy agencies to get to the bottom of the issue after receiving a report back in May from the intelligence agencies saying that they had "coalesced around two likely scenarios" but had not yet reached a conclusion. A group of scientists also published an open letter earlier this year declaring a lab leak to be the most likely scenario.

Judging from comments made by leaders of the intelligence community, it almost seems like they don't want to know the truth.

During an interview with Yahoo News back in June, Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines argued that the mystery of COVID's origins might never be solved. “We’re hoping to find a smoking gun…. but “it’s challenging to do that…"it might happen, but it might not."

China has of course done everything in its power to stymie international inquiries into the origins of the virus. After sabotaging the first WHO investigation, Beijing has advised that it will treat the next delegation of scientists no differently

On Wednesday, with the Biden Administration report set to be released in a matter of days, a senior Chinese bureaucrat warned during a press conference that Beijing would "retaliate" if the intelligence report fingers a lab leak from the WHO.

"We will continue to cooperate with international organizations like the WHO in their research and in their search for the origins," said Fu Cong, director-general of the Foreign Ministry’s Arms Control Department. "But we do not accept baseless and unfounded accusations that are politically motivated. And if they want to baselessly accuse China, so they better be prepared to accept the counterattack from China."

It wasn't clear just how Beijing would retaliate: some speculated it could do so by sending even deadlier virus variants, or by intentionally closing down shipping ports.

Pentagon Orders Military Servce Members To "Immediately" Get Covid Vaccine

On Monday, just hours after the Pfizer vaccine was granted FDA approval, the Pentagon announced that it was set to require vaccinations for all service members. Except, around one-third of US service members have refused the jab. In July, between 60% and 70% of personnel were fully vaccinated - with the Navy being the most vaccinated and the Marines being the least, according to the Washington Post.

So fast forward to today when in an apparent gamble that could see a third of the US military resign en masse, defense secretary Lloyd Austin ordered service members to “immediately begin” receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, according to a Pentagon memo released Wednesday.

“To defend this Nation, we need a healthy and ready force. After careful consultation with medical experts and military leadership, and with the support of the President, I have determined that mandatory vaccination against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is necessary to protect the Force and defend the American people,” Austin wrote in the memo seen by Reuters.

No timeline was given for when troops are required to get the shot, but Austin said he directed service branch secretaries “to impose ambitious timelines for implementation," and to report to him regularly on their progress.

Roughly 800,000 active duty, National Guard and Ready Reserve troops have yet to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the latest numbers from the Defense Department. But with the Food and Drug Administration giving full approval to the Pfizer vaccine earlier this this week, Austin was able to add it to the list of 17 required shots service members must get when they enter the military or before they deploy overseas.

As we noted two weeks ago, according to a 2018 DoD military demographics report (p. 40), the average active-duty military member is 28.2-years old, which according to The Economist's estimated Covid-19 risk calculator, puts the risk of death for active-duty men at less than 0.1%, and hospitalization at 2.6%. For active-duty women, the risk of death is also less than 0.1%, and hospitalization 1.6%.

In addition to the extremely low mortality rate - combined with the fact that vaccinated individuals can still contract and transmit Covid-19, albeit at lower rates, perhaps the largely young and fit members of the military aren't about to change their mind - except now they may lose their jobs.

A trustee for the Cajon Valley Unified School District claims the district’s superintendent and other board members retaliated against her for voicing concerns about frequent travel and alleged misspending of district funds.

Board member Jilane Barto’s claims are detailed in a federal lawsuit filed against Cajon Valley Unified superintendent David Miyashiro and four school board members: James Miller, Jo Alegria, Tamara Otero, and Karen Clark-Mejia.

Barto claims she was targeted when she first questioned Miyashiro’s use of district funds and the superintendent’s travel at district expense.

According to her lawsuit, “[Barto] raised issues about how much money District Superintendent Miyashiro has spent on his travel and conference costs, and raised questions about the size and nature of expenditures from his discretionary funds.”

Public records obtained by NBC 7 Investigates confirm district staff took frequent trips at district expense, and Miyashiro had attended conferences and “Ted Talks” in Vancouver, Chicago,Beijing, O’ahu, London, as well as Tallahassee, Florida.

The data reveals district staff has spent $1.1 million dollars on trips and conferences since March 2017. According to the California Department of Education, Cajon Valley Unified is the tenth-largest in San Diego County with 17,468 students. Miyashiro’s $295,596 salary makes him the second-highest-paid superintendent in San Diego County.

FBI Palantir glitch allowed unauthorized access to private data

A computer glitch in a secretive software program used by the FBI allowed some unauthorized employees to access private data for more than a year, prosecutors revealed in a new court filing.

The screw-up in the Palantir program — a software created by a sprawling data analytics company co-founded by billionaire Peter Thiel — was detailed in a letter by prosecutors in the Manhattan federal court case against accused hacker Virgil Griffith.

Data recovered from Griffith’s Facebook and Twitter accounts, which was obtained through a federal search warrant in March 2020, was accessed on Palantir for more than a year by at least four FBI employees, all of whom work outside New York and were not investigating the case, prosecutors wrote.

The FBI case agent assigned to Griffith’s case was alerted to the unauthorized access earlier this month, when another agent emailed him and said an analyst accessed the search warrant material on Palantir, according to the letter.

“An FBI analyst, in the course of conducting a separate investigation, had identified communications between the defendant and the subject of that other investigation by means of searches on the Platform that accessed the Search Warrant Returns,” the feds wrote in the letter filed Tuesday.

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan determined the FBI employees — three analysts and an agent — were able to view the material because it was entered in Palantir through the program’s default settings.

“When data is loaded onto the Platform, the default setting is to permit access to the data to other FBI personnel otherwise authorized to access the Platform,” prosecutors wrote in the letter.

The material was accessed at least four times from May 2020 to August 2021, according to the letter.

The employees who accessed the data told prosecutors that they did not recall using the information in their investigations.

Manhattan prosecutors instructed Palantir employees to delete the data on Aug. 17 and said they do not intend on using the information in their case against Griffith, according to the letter.

LA firefighter under investigation after vowing to fight back against vaccine mandate: 'This is tyranny'

A Los Angeles Fire Department captain is under investigation after he publicly criticized a COVID-19 vaccination mandate for city employees that was approved by the Los Angeles City Council.

LAFD Capt. Christian Granucci, a 31-year veteran of the LAFD, posted a video to social media on Monday in which he railed against the vaccine mandate. The video was purportedly recorded at work, and Granucci was wearing a LAFD T-shirt and baseball cap.

In the more than 12-minute video, Granucci said that he is "so hopping mad" that his "head could pop."

"This is not about politics. This is not about left or right. This is not about red versus blue. This is not about Republican versus Democrat. This isn't even about vaccinated versus unvaccinated," Granucci said. "This is tyranny. This is about freedom of choice."

Later in the video, Granucci expressed anger at top LAFD brass and union leadership for not intervening to stop city firefighters from being forced to get vaccinated or comply with mandatory COVID testing.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: Biden Must Resettle At Least 200K Afghans in U.S.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) says President Joe Biden’s administration must resettle at least 200,000 Afghans across the United States as part of its withdrawal from Afghanistan.

In an interview with The Independent, Ocasio-Cortez urged Biden to set a floor of 200,000 visas for Afghans to be evacuated from Afghanistan and brought to the U.S. for permanent resettlement and eventual naturalized American citizenship.

Should Biden implement such a plan, resettling 200,000 Afghans would be the equivalent of bringing 4.5 percent of the total number of Afghans residing in Kabul, Afghanistan, to the U.S.

Ocasio-Cortez stated:

“I believe we need to move and the administration needs to move as quickly as possible and as expansively as possible ensuring that we are raising the amount of refugee visas to whatever amount is necessary,” the self-described democratic socialist congresswoman told The Independent. “I would say the rock bottom is 200,000, but I think it should be whatever is necessary,” Ms Ocasio-Cortez said. “And that needs to be expedited as soon as possible.” [Emphasis added]

Few professions in America have more daily interaction and long-term impact on immigrants than teaching. As teachers listen and get to know their students deeply, they impart not only knowledge, but orientation, hope, and guidance in a new reality. Teachers get the opportunity to introduce America to a whole new group of Americans, and create atmospheres for learning that bring all types of students together.

In 2017, our school district put out a call for stories from teachers about their experiences with immigrant students. We wanted to better understand and respond to the impact of immigrant and refugee arrivals in our classrooms. What emerged is a collection of stories authored by educators who are truly changing the world. The stories are as varied as the students themselves. Some are uplifting and lighthearted; others are tough. Teachers are front-line observers to everyday happenings in their community, and here we get a glimpse of their unique perspective, insight, and compassion.

El Cajon, where we teach, is a national refugee resettlement destination. Our district has received over 850 newly arrived students in the 2016-2107 school year alone, from Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan,and a handful of African and Latin American countries. In total, refugee children comprise over 19% of our student body, nearly 1 in 5 students in our district.

We have been careful to protect the confidentiality and cultural traditions of students described in this book. We have not used their real names, and pictures are not necessarily of students described in the stories. Teacher names are presented with the level of confidentiality preferred by the teacher.

#Together: 200 British Business, Faith, and Political Leaders Launch Campaign Against Vaccine Passports

A group of over 200 businesses, faith, and political leaders in Britain have joined with doctors and healthcare staff to denounce any imposition of vaccine passports.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Reclaim and Reform (formerly the Brexit Party) parties, alongside NHS staff, entrepreneurs, business leaders, sports professionals, media personalities, musicians set out the ‘Together Declaration’, which states that the introduction of vaccine passports or any form of digital identification would compromise the rights and freedoms of the British people.

In a press conference held in London on Wednesday afternoon, bar owner and nightlife lobbyist Alan Miller said that he joined the campaign because “the idea that we have a discriminatory two-tiered society where we have security guards asking people for some of the most sensitive information was just too much.”

Miller stressed his view that the Together coalition is made up of people from a wide range of political opinions and that it is important for the people of the country to sign the petition to express their opposition to vaccine passports and digital ideas.

Author Laura Dodsworth noted that vaccine passports were deemed to be against British values and discriminatory by the government’s own vaccine minister Nadhim Zahwahi, who said in February “That’s not how we do things in the UK. We do them by consent.”

Dodsworth said that vaccine passports “will exclude, divide, compromise privacy, and create a medical ‘papers please’ checkpoint society.

“At the very least, they set the precedent for future erosion of health privacy and checkpoints. But given the lack of clarity and consistency from the government about vaccine passports, it’s easy to imagine them leading to a permanent form of digital ID,” she warned.
