Both Ayers and Benson are running for another term on council. Ayers advanced to the general election in her bid for an at-large seat, and Benson ran unopposed in the primary.

The searches come three weeks after Spivey was arraigned in federal court on one count of conspiracy to commit bribery over claims he accepted more than $35,000 to be "influenced and rewarded" for votes.

Earlier this year, former Detroit councilman Gabe Leland was sentenced to 2 1/2 years of probation for a misconduct in office charge.

Leland represented Detroit's 7th district. Prosecutors said Leland accepted $7,500 in cash during his 2017 re-election campaign and free car repairs in exchange for his vote on a land deal.

During the plea hearing, Leland said he accepted the campaign contribution and knew it was illegal to do so.

A national panel of education, psychology and neuroscience researchers this month called on all schools to adopt so-called social-emotional learning programs. The group, assembled by nonpartisan think tank The Aspen Institute, looked at the available research and said: “the success of young people in school and beyond is inextricably linked to healthy social and emotional development.”

‘Social Emotional Learning’ Now a Vehicle for Critical Race Theory

In February, Robbins wrote at the Federalist that SEL champions such as the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) are now “brazenly trumpeting an even more troubling aspect of SEL: the opportunity to turn impressionable students into leftist activists.”

She observed that CASEL CEO Karen Niemi announced in December her company “has revised its definition of and framework for ‘socio-emotional learning’ to highlight the value of SEL as a weapon for social justice.”

“Woke-speak pervades the new direction,” Robbins asserted. “In contrast to the previous fairly anodyne definition of SEL, the new one emphasizes student ‘identities’ and ‘marginalization,’ ‘equity,’ ‘just communities,’ and the ‘collective’ rather than the individual.”

In the video below from a June 2020 “conversation” about “Abolitionist Teaching and the future of Our Schools,” Yale activist teacher Dena Simmons, Ed.D., said SEL, on its own, is now nothing more than “white supremacy with a hug.”

Kamala Harris was accused of misreading or ignoring the significance of the monumentat Trúc Bach Lake in Hanoi — which celebrates the defeat and capture of future politician John McCain, rather than honouring his part in the bloody US bombing campaign on Vietnam.

US Vice President Kamala Harris has laid flowers at the spot in Vietnam's capital Hanoi where late Senator John McCain was shot down while bombing the city.

Democrat Harris' motorcade stopped beside Trúc Bạch Lake on the third anniversary of McCain's death, paying glowing tribute to the hawkish Republican, saying he "always fought for the best of who we are".

That was in stark contrast to former President Donald Trump's reported disparaging comments about him.

The VP laid a bunch of flowers at the monument, which celebrates the downing of US Navy aviator McCain's A-4 Skyhawk strike jet on 26 October, 1967, as part of the broader defeat of the US Air Force by the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) and Vietnamese People's Air Force (VPAF).
