>in my eyes using VPN is the same as thinking you would be better off with Telegram instead of FB.

Right. You're just transferring the meta-information about what information goes where to a third party (the VPN provider). You have trust that they'll keep it secret.

But what the VPNs have is an immense pot of potential $$$. They can sell that big pile of connection information to governments, interested individuals, lawyers, etc. Lots of potentially blackmailable information if being gathered. The likelihood of finding wrongdoing is much higher, as people who have something to hid will be trying to hide it.

The VPN provider is given an immense amount of trust. Moreso than Faceberg or Twatter, etc. ALL your information is being routed and (potentially) collected by the VPN guys.

How much do you trust your VPN provider?

>Indeed. What will it take to wake them up?

With every "OMG Lockdown", I see a greater number of people not picking up the mask again. I think with enough "variant -lockdown" and "maybe need a booster" cycles, the remaining few will be the sickly.

Like it was pre-pandemic in Japan. When people were sick, they were expected to wear masks. The healthy lived their lives without a mask.

>Stop being lazy and install linux

Which of the many distributions do you suggest? Linux is mostly open, and I expect I would have heard something from the OpenSource community of a particular distribution has back-doors or is bunk in some way, but I don't see any of that.

Is Linux inherently pure? Are there bad distributions (or flavors) of the OS? Like Ubuntu vs. Debian vs. BSD vs. YellowDog vs. RedHat, etc.

>Linux doesn't "force" updates while you sleepโ€ฆ.

You can set most OS's up to not automatically update. It's pretty easy on the Mac, but for Windows โ€“ wow! what a task to turn it off - and it never really is turned off, Bill keeps pestering you to get your Windows booster shot every few months.

< Re: missing pictures

Had a thought about the past few days. There have been people who caption the images they can see, for the bunch of forum users who are currently blind.

The captioning on the images makes text-searching the database super easy. And it gives the AI training algorithms some excellent feedback on the content of the images.
