When it shows in your browser, you can simply save it too.
Check if the file is size 0, or maybe it didn't fully download. Try to download it once more.
You understand that browsers contain security bugs and it could actually trigger when viewing certain images?
Do you even understand how computers work?
When you download a file, it will not do any damage by itself.
Only when you use a program on it (this may be windows explorer too) an image with harmful content can in theory cause damage by breaking the program.
A file that you just download, and don't do anything else with, can not break your computer.
