Three Fort Drum soldiers die of apparent suicides 3 days apart

 

Three Fort Drum soldiers died of suspected suicides in the span of three days last week, authorities announced Sunday.

 

The upstate New York base announced the deaths in a Sunday statement and said there was no connection between the three incidents.

 

Command teams gathered troops on Monday to discuss suicide prevention, according to a statement from Maj. Gen, Milford H. Beagle, Jr., commander of the 10th Mountain Division.

 

β€œIn trying times like these, it is incumbent upon us all to reach out to your battle buddy. Make sure they are O.K,” Beagle said in a statement.

 

β€œTo the Soldiers of Fort Drum, the 10th Mountain Division and our entire Army I want you to know every life is worth living!” the commander continued.

 

Officials have not released the identities of the dead soldiers.
