This guy is on point.
A military should exist to prevent attacks, yet cyber attacks are becoming common place in the headlines. Since December we have seen the Solar Winds Hack, the oil pipe line hack, and that meat packing company hack. I'm sure I'm leaving some out. We live in a false paradigm that we in the U.S., thanks to our kinetic power and oceans on either side of us, we are safe from attack. It's time for the United States and its military to recognize we're getting our shit kicked in on the digital battlefied and make defense of it a number one through ten priority. Some things he pointed out:
>He also blamed the reluctance of Google to work with the US defence department on AI
>He claimed that the US, like Beijing, should have prioritized artificial intelligence, machine learning and cyber capabilities over traditional military spending like building new fighter jets.
>military officials were repeatedly put in charge of cyber initiatives for which they lacked experience, decrying Pentagon “laggards” and absence of funding.
>Chaillan — who was the Pentagon’s first chief software officer — said China will dominate the future of the world by controlling everything from media narratives to geopolitics.
>he spent his three-year stint “fixing basic cloud things and laptops” instead of innovating.
