Plane crash in Mesa County, CO

UPDATE: ONE CONFIRMED DECEASED OCTOBER 11, 2021 TABS Case(active tab) Location 1:10 p.m. Update: The sole occupant onboard the plane is confirmed deceased. The NTSB is investigating the cause of the crash. The Mesa County Coroner's Office is responsible for determining the cause and manner of death as well as releasing the identity of the person once the next of kin is notified. Crews are still working to retrieve the body. Lumen's helicopter is shuttling crews to the remote crash site. The Mesa County Sheriff's Office, Plateau Valley Fire District, Colorado State Patrol, Mesa County Search and Rescue as well as aircraft from Civil Air Patrol, Careflight, and Lumen all assisted with this incident. Previous: A plane was spotted on the ground near Jerry Creek Reservoir by a searching helicopter. It is in a remote area; rescue efforts are underway. This flight originated in Delta County from Blake Field this morning en route to Rock Springs, WY. Previous: Mesa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating reports of a possible plane crash near the Grand Mesa. Denver Aircraft Traffic Control reported it lost communication and radar contact with a beech baron twin-engine aircraft in the area of Castle Peak. Deputies and the Plateau Valley Fire District are responding to the area to locate the aircraft. Civil Air Patrol and Careflight are also mobilizing to help with the search.
