This is a special case for the dots describing a circle equal in diameter to the radius of the larger circle. If we keep contact with the edge, even a slight shortening of the diameter of the enclosed dots would describe successively shorter individual arcs. A fantastic diagram, but not illustrative of the point. My perception was not deceived.
