Weinberger offered six criteria necessary to prevent another Vietnam. These axioms include:

(3) The U.S. government needs to provide its forces clear military and political objectives;

(4) The United States should be willing to change the commitment if the objectives change;

(5) The United States should use military forces only with the support of the American people and Congress; and

(6) The government should commit forces only as a last resort.

These six axioms of Casper Weinberger eventually morphed into what is now called the Powell Doctrine with the addition of the mantra: “If you break it you have to fix it.”

Two senior House Democrats to retire

Two long-serving House Democrats, Reps. David Price (N.C.) and Mike Doyle (Pa.), announced Monday that they won't seek reelection next year.

The two retirements come after House Budget Committee Chairman John Yarmuth (D-Ky.) also announced last week that he won't seek reelection.

Price and Doyle, as well as Yarmuth, represent safe Democratic seats that aren't expected at this point to be competitive in next year's midterm elections.

But the retirement announcements come as Democrats are struggling to enact their domestic legislative agenda in Congress and face an uphill climb to keep their narrow majorities after 2022.

Doyle cited discussions with his wife about "how we want to spend our retirement together now that our family is grown" and redistricting that will likely change his Pittsburgh-based district's boundaries among his reasons for deciding not to seek reelection. Doyle added that he wanted to ensure potential candidates would have enough time to launch their campaigns to succeed him in Congress.

"I believe the time has come to pass the torch to the next generation," Doyle said in a statement. "This is a good transition time for a new member to start in a newly drawn district."

Price is a senior member of the House Appropriations panel and chairs the subcommittee with oversight of the Departments of Transportation as well as Housing and Urban Development. He also chairs the House Democracy Partnership, a bipartisan commission within the House that works with other countries to promote effective legislatures.

“So while it is time for me to retire, it is no time to flag in our efforts to secure a 'more perfect union' and to protect and expand our democracy," Price said in a statement.

Both Doyle and Price are among the most senior House Democrats in their respective state delegations. Doyle has served in the House since 1995, while Price has been in office since 1997 as well as from 1987 to 1995.

A large number of retirements among House Democrats could make it even more difficult for the party to retain its majority, since popular incumbents are more likely to win reelection in difficult political environments than less-familiar newcomers.

The period between Labor Day and the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday is typically the peak time of year for lawmakers to decide to retire from the congressional lifestyle as they spend more time at home with friends and family.

Spain's leftist prime minister vowed Sunday to 'abolish' the £3billion prostitution industry in the country, saying it 'enslaves' women.

There is no punishment for those who offer paid sexual services of their own will as long as it's not in public spaces, with the laws focused instead on combating human trafficking.

Although it is not recognised as regular employment, there is a large number of brothels throughout the country - many operate as hotels or other lodging establishments.

An estimated 300,000 women work as prostitutes nationwide and one in three men in Spain has paid for sex at least once in their lives, according to a 2009 survey by the country's state-owned Social Investigations Centre (CIS).

Campaigners argue the legal limbo around prostitution fuels demand for trafficked women.

This anon experiences it. Able to get up and move around during the frozen frame. No one else can be found. No sky, no weather, no sun, no stars, no wind. All lights extremely dim. Can do things that normally don't work in a dream, like read books and use electronics. For a long time when this happened I thought I was dreaming, but over time many differences have emerged. Also, there is a "thin" quality to the dimension during the pauses, and I can perceive someone or something through that "thinness" just on the other side of perception. Not sure if that's God? Aliens? Angels? Astral beings? The Logos itself? Sometimes it pays intensive attention to me, and sometimes it seems to be busy and doesn't act like it notices me. Maybe it has gotten bored of me or used to me, and not concerned with what I do.

Someone tell me how I should use this opportunity. Give me some goals for next time it happens. I always just wander around confused and examine things but never accomplish anything. Troll answers welcome.

Russia Suspends Its Permanent Mission To NATO, No Active Communication Present

As of November 1st, Russia will suspend its permanent mission and other bodies for contacts with NATO, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was quoted as saying by Russian news agencies that staff at NATO’s military mission in Moscow would be stripped of their accreditation from November 1, and that NATO could interact with Russia via its embassy in Brussels if needed.

“We basically don’t have proper conditions for basic diplomatic activities as a result of the purposeful NATO steps. In response to NATO’s activities, we suspend the work of our permanent mission to NATO, including the work of the chief military representative, starting from November 1, or maybe it will take a couple more days,” said Lavrov.

“Secondly, we suspend the work of NATO’s military liaison in Moscow. Its employees’ accreditations will be recalled on November 1. And thirdly, we cease the work of NATO’s information bureau which was founded under Belgium’s embassy.”

Also, the NATO military mission in Moscow will cease its functions indefinitely, and the information bureau will be closed.

Lavrov noted that now there is no communication between the parties through the military.

“If NATO members have any urgent matters, they can turn to our ambassador to Belgium on these issues, who ensures bilateral relations between Russia and the Kingdom of Belgium,” Lavrov said.

Earlier this month, NATO expelled eight members of Russia’s mission to the alliance who it said were “undeclared Russian intelligence officers”.

According to the minister, this decision was not explained to Russia. Lavrov stressed that Moscow “will no longer pretend that any changes in relations are possible in the near future.”

At that time, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko accused NATO of duplicity and of using the idea of an alleged threat from Moscow as a bogeyman.

“After the dramatic end of the Afghan era, how can they can get by without the bogeyman of the ‘Russian threat’. They can’t,” he told Russia’s Kommersant daily newspaper.

NATO suspended practical cooperation with Russia in 2014 after Crimea became part of the Russian Federation, but has kept channels open for high-level meetings and for military-to-military cooperation.

Water still seems to function. For example, in one of these moments I found a wet towel, picked it up and found it to be moist and pliable, and was able to wring a few drops of water out of it onto the floor. Was thinking about this yesterday.

Correct - Companies importing do not pay suppliers until net 30/60/90 after taking possession of the goods stateside. It's the official hand off..

We imported PPE from China like it was going out of style for the last 18 months. They were making a fortune off the pandemic and supply chain delays were happening but NOTHING like they are now.

First year of covid the delays at my very large company were 4-6 weeks. Starting around April - summer, the delays started to be something like 8-12 weeks.

What is really going on?

Yeah, I admit I haven't found any bodies of water. The wet towel is the only example that comes to mind. And the towel was an item I had discarded during a previous visit to the "silent time", it was still right where I left it, still wet. I don't remember how it became wet or where I got it in the previous visit. But basically, everything else about the location had persisted completely intact. It was the management offices of a theme park, where all the back-end operations were done. Security monitors, administrative computers, meeting rooms, storage, things like that. I wonder if that's just how my brain rationalizes the place I'm visiting, since it's not actually a human space.

We must get such sentiments “out of our heads.”

We do not, of course, live in the middle ages like Dante. Hell, purgatory, and heaven seem to be beyond our ken. Our imaginations have withered together with our grasp on reality. Up/down, good/evil, war/peace – opposites have melded into symbiotic marriages. Most people are ashamed, as the poet Czeslaw Milosz has said, to ask themselves certain questions that the seething infinity of modern relativity has bequeathed us. Space and time have lost all dimensions; the experience of the collapse of hierarchical space and time is widespread. For those who still call themselves religious believers like Dante, “when they fold their hands and lift up their eyes, ‘up’ no longer exists,” Milosz rightly says. The map and the territory are one as all metaphysics are almost lost. And with its loss go our ability to see the advancing banner of the king of hell, to grasp the nature of the battle for the soul of the world that is now underway. No, the whole thing is incredibly disorienting, I find myself already in progress of actions and it's like I snap into realizing I'm in a silent place "again" when I did not realize I was asleep or involved in any kind of dream. My brain kind of starts filling in gaps, like, "oh yeah, I was in bed, I took a nap, I laid down on a bench," whatever. It's the only type of "dream" I have where I can revisit the same place more than once and it's the same both times. It's the only type of "dream" I have where there are no other people or entities, where there's no sun or stars or weather or trees. The only type where I can read or handle objects. The only type where I seem more or less free to move around under my own power and choose courses of action. Where I can observe cause and effect in my own actions rather than feeling like I'm stuck in mud and unable to act. But I never remember how I got there or what I was doing a moment before I realized I was there.

President Trump called Colin Powell a “real stiff” on Sunday — after the former secretary of state announced he would endorse Joe Biden for president.

Less than an hour later, Trump responded to Powell and listed his accomplishments.

I'll try, but like I said the only entity I'm "aware" of is the one that's "behind" reality in those moments. I can't directly see it. It's like seeing someone through heavily frosted glass. You just see a shape and you can tell it's moving, and from the shape you kind of realize it's looking at you or moving around doing something else. I don't know if it hears me, I realized just now that I haven't tried talking in there before, either. Donald Trump Jr. is now posting memes implying the media is downplaying child sex trafficking, the latest example of his embrace of the fringe far-right and the conspiracy theories that define it.

The former president’s oldest child is one of the most prominent conservatives on social media, and over the weekend he posted an image to his 5.2 million Instagram followers which said: “They should start reporting the number of kids that go missing every day the way they report COVID numbers.” The meme Trump posted has existed since last year, and hits two targets with a lot of overlap: QAnon’s obsession with child sex trafficking and the COVID-19 pandemic, which has killed more than 700,000 Americans but many on the far-right nonetheless believe has been overblown.

“I’d be much more interested in this… and I imagine this would be much more enlightening to others as well,” Trump Jr. said in the caption. He also tagged Gina Carano, the actress and former MMA fighter who was dropped from the cast of ‘The Mandalorian’ earlier this year after she compared criticism of conservatives to treatment of Jewish people during the Holocaust. Trump Jr. has gestured towards this crowd before. In early September, he posted a tweet claiming the Biden administration “seems to be in the process of aiding and abetting child sex trafficking,” based on reports that during the collapse of Kabul and the Afghan military this summer, the U.S. evacuated older Afghan men along with young girls they said were their brides.

During a Senate hearing in September, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that “everyone involved in the evacuation effort” was on “extreme vigilance to look for and deal with any cases or concerns” about child sex trafficking. Queensland MP Shane Knuth's son, Daniel Knuth, charged with child exploitation offences

The son of a Queensland politician has been denied bail after being charged with possessing child exploitation material while on probation.

Key points:

The magistrate said releasing Knuth on bail constituted an "unacceptable risk"

Knuth avoided jail time for similar offending in 2019 due to his dwarfism and medical needs

His father, Queensland MP Shane Knuth said the charges had taken the family "by surprise"

Daniel Knuth, 24, is the son of Shane Knuth, the Katter's Australian Party state member for Hill.

Daniel Knuth is charged with possessing child exploitation material and four counts of failure to comply with reporting.

He was arrested and charged last week when probation officers attended his home and allegedly found illegal content on his mobile phone.

On Monday, lawyers representing Knuth made an application for bail in the Townsville Magistrates Court.

The court heard that during the visit on October 15, Knuth allegedly tried to delete applications from his phone before probation officers could see.

Police allege the phone contained photos and videos he had shared with other people on social media platforms, including Snapchat, using false names.

The court heard an image depicting a child aged between 10 and 12 was found on the device.

Police said a further analysis of the phone was being completed.

Previously spared jail

The court heard that Knuth was serving a four-year suspended sentence after pleading guilty to child exploitation offences in the Townsville District Court in 2019.

He was not required to serve time in custody because of his dwarfism and medical needs.

During the application for bail on Monday, prosecutor Rachel Todd told the court there were no bail conditions that could mitigate the risk that Knuth would reoffend if released.

Knuth was represented by Legal Aid layer Rhianna Lee, who asked he be released under the condition that he not have access to a mobile phone or the internet.

Ms Lee also suggested he live with his parents on their Charters Towers property and present to local police three times a week while on bail.

I don't know. It's a disorienting transition and I don't know how I got there and I'm already doing stuff when I realize I'm there. There is no clear beginning and I'm very out of sorts and it takes me time to understand what's happening at all.

All dreams in which I'm able to fly are of other types. There are people, there's sunlight and plants and trees and weather and oceans. I can't really control where I fly to, at least not directly. It's more like ordering myself to move a unit in an RTS game. I think of a goal and myself carries out getting me there, sometimes via flight.

These other paused time dreams, I'm much more directly responsible for what I do and I have to do it myself. I haven't flown; that's not to say I can't, but it's never occurred to me because I am much more "myself" and in real life, I can't fly, it doesn't occur to me to try flying. I will have to add that to the list.

That I was pure energy and intention was all that mattered.

I then asked if I could fly and was told that I could but that I wasn't ready.

Being stubborn and impatient, I decided to do it anyway and was instructed as to how to do it.

When I tried (simply by intention) I shot up through the ceiling and found myself way up above my home town.

There was a brief pause in movement and then I started zooming over the town, directly toward my intended destination.

It was wild and startled me.

The very moment I felt the fear, things went blurry and I found myself Immediately back in my body.

The affect of Fear on Creative Intention… Well, that's a whole story in and of itself.

Additional resources for IRS enforcement and proposals for income-tax reform might unite the politicians and bureaucrats in the nation’s capital, but they are a far cry from a genuinely free society, which is what unites us libertarians.

As the federal government moves toward ever-increasing spending, debt, and monetary debauchery through inflation, it is imperative that we libertarians continue hewing strictly to freedom principles. If we begin going down the road of reform, as some conservative-oriented libertarians advocate, then the chances of achieving a genuinely free society dissipate. We libertarians remain the only hope for getting our nation back on the right track — toward freedom, peace, prosperity, and harmony.

No matter how bad things are and still might get, nothing is inevitable. Circumstances can turn on a dime. But in order for people to move toward genuine freedom, they have to first read or hear the principles of genuine freedom and then ponder and reflect on them. If all they hear is the case for tax reform, regulatory reform, welfare reform, military reform, intelligence reform, or surveillance reform, then that’s likely to be what they are going to ponder and reflect on.

It’s difficult to imagine but Americans lived without income taxation for more than 100 years. Our American ancestors clearly understood that an income tax — or what they called a “direct” tax — is antithetical to a free society. In order to be genuinely free, people have to be free to keep 100 percent of their earnings.

The freedom to keep everything people earned was one of the driving engines of the tremendous economic growth that characterized 19th-century America, especially in the period from 1870 to 1910. When government could not take any portion of people’s income from them, poor people were going from rags to riches in one, two, or three generations.

That was not the only thing that was unusual about the way our ancestors believed and lived. They also opposed immigration controls, which they lived without for some 100 years. There was also no Social Security, Medicare, welfare, education grants, and foreign aid. No Pentagon, CIA, NSA, or FBI. No foreign wars, coups, state-sponsored assassinations, torture, secret mass surveillance, denial of due process, indefinite detention, Gitmo, and alliances with dictatorial regimes. No fiat (paper) money and no Federal Reserve. No minimum-wage laws. No public-schooling systems. Few economic regulations.

With regard to income taxation, everything changed in 1913, when Americans living at that time adopted the 16th Amendment and, soon thereafter, a national income tax and the IRS to enforce it. Proponents promised that only the rich would be taxed. How laughable that is today!

In the same year, 1913, the Federal Reserve was enacted into law. Once President Franklin D. Roosevelt converted America to a welfare state with the enactment of Social Security and once he nationalized gold in the 1930s, the floodgates were open to massive taxation, spending, debt, and inflation through both the federal income tax and the Federal Reserve.

Trump faces a pile of civil lawsuits as depositions begin

Former President Donald Trump has been ordered to answer questions under oath in a lawsuit Monday, and his attorneys could set a date for a deposition in another case, as well.

The lawsuits, involving allegations that his security guards roughed up protesters outside Trump Tower in New York and allegations of defamation by former "Apprentice" contestant Summer Zervos, respectively, are just two cases in the mass of civil litigation Trump faces post-presidency.

At least 10 civil cases are pending against Trump, whose ability to delay them has been curtailed since he left office in January. Trump had argued in some of the cases that as a sitting president he was immune from civil lawsuits. His office didn't respond to a request for comment on the cases.
