Two senior House Democrats to retire

Two long-serving House Democrats, Reps. David Price (N.C.) and Mike Doyle (Pa.), announced Monday that they won't seek reelection next year.

The two retirements come after House Budget Committee Chairman John Yarmuth (D-Ky.) also announced last week that he won't seek reelection.

Price and Doyle, as well as Yarmuth, represent safe Democratic seats that aren't expected at this point to be competitive in next year's midterm elections.

But the retirement announcements come as Democrats are struggling to enact their domestic legislative agenda in Congress and face an uphill climb to keep their narrow majorities after 2022.

Doyle cited discussions with his wife about "how we want to spend our retirement together now that our family is grown" and redistricting that will likely change his Pittsburgh-based district's boundaries among his reasons for deciding not to seek reelection. Doyle added that he wanted to ensure potential candidates would have enough time to launch their campaigns to succeed him in Congress.

"I believe the time has come to pass the torch to the next generation," Doyle said in a statement. "This is a good transition time for a new member to start in a newly drawn district."

Price is a senior member of the House Appropriations panel and chairs the subcommittee with oversight of the Departments of Transportation as well as Housing and Urban Development. He also chairs the House Democracy Partnership, a bipartisan commission within the House that works with other countries to promote effective legislatures.

“So while it is time for me to retire, it is no time to flag in our efforts to secure a 'more perfect union' and to protect and expand our democracy," Price said in a statement.

Both Doyle and Price are among the most senior House Democrats in their respective state delegations. Doyle has served in the House since 1995, while Price has been in office since 1997 as well as from 1987 to 1995.

A large number of retirements among House Democrats could make it even more difficult for the party to retain its majority, since popular incumbents are more likely to win reelection in difficult political environments than less-familiar newcomers.

The period between Labor Day and the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday is typically the peak time of year for lawmakers to decide to retire from the congressional lifestyle as they spend more time at home with friends and family.

Spanish PM Sanchez vows to 'abolish' £3billion prostitution industry warning it 'enslaves' women

Spain's leftist prime minister vowed Sunday to 'abolish' the £3billion prostitution industry in the country, saying it 'enslaves' women.

Speaking at the end of a three-day congress of his Socialist party, PM Pedro Sanchez highlighted policies introduced by his government which he said had helped Spain 'advance' such as tougher domestic violence laws and minimum wage hikes.

'And out of this congress emerges a commitment I will implement. We will advance by abolishing prostitution, which enslaves women,' he told the gathering in the eastern city of Valencia without providing further details.

While sexual exploitation and pimping are illegal in Spain, prostitution was decriminalized in 1995 and is unregulated.

There is no punishment for those who offer paid sexual services of their own will as long as it's not in public spaces, with the laws focused instead on combating human trafficking.

Although it is not recognised as regular employment, there is a large number of brothels throughout the country - many operate as hotels or other lodging establishments.

An estimated 300,000 women work as prostitutes nationwide and one in three men in Spain has paid for sex at least once in their lives, according to a 2009 survey by the country's state-owned Social Investigations Centre (CIS).

Data Analyst proves Covid-19 Deaths increased dramatically AFTER the Vaccine roll-out in over 40 countries

However, once the Covid-19 injection roll-out began to pick up pace the number of Covid-19 deaths began to rapidly rise again.

But Joel Smalley, a quantitative data analyst has published a video which proves this phenomenon didn’t just occur in the United Kingdom, but has instead occurred in over 40 countries.

The video shows weekly Covid-19 deaths per country, before and after Covid-19 vaccination campaigns began, and each country seems to have suffered a huge spike in Covid-19 deaths following the introduction of the Covid-19 vaccine.

MS-13 operates as the heavy hand for drug cartels in the U.S.

Continuity Global Solutions CEO Jerry Torres shared his insight on the rise of cartels at the border with Sara Carter. According to his experience as a defense contractor and documentarian, immigrants aren’t leaving their countries because of the cartels, but for the economic opportunity.

“I’ve met with our special operations forces,” Torres told Carter on the latest episode of The Sara Carter Show. “They have been training on the El Salvador and Special Operations folks, and I met with the deputy director of their their special ops folks there. And they said there’s no MS-13 here. There might be pockets of them here and there in small neighborhoods, but they pretty much wiped them out.”

Yet, the Biden administration considers the treat of MS-13 a pillar of their lax immigration policy. Instead, Torres says they’re not a threat at all. The locals actually get along fine despite the organized crime. “They’re not in fear of their country, they’re not in fear of the police, they’re not in fear of MS- 13. They just want a better life,” Torres said. “And the thing is, is if you take a look at what they’re claiming asylum, well, asylum is not for economic reasons.”

Meanwhile, the cartel has taken on a new role: human trafficking. Immigrants aren’t afraid of MS-13 because they turn to them for advice. Sara Carter has been reporting on this symbiotic relationship for years. “They’re basically rehearsing with a lot of the people, the migrants that are coming across, this is what you need to say, when you get across. This is what you need to ask for, or you won’t be able to stay,” Carter said. “So it’s kind of like a dress rehearsal of sorts. Before they come here, they are taught: what are our loopholes and what do you need to say.”

Russia Suspends Its Permanent Mission To NATO, No Active Communication Present

As of November 1st, Russia will suspend its permanent mission and other bodies for contacts with NATO, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was quoted as saying by Russian news agencies that staff at NATO’s military mission in Moscow would be stripped of their accreditation from November 1, and that NATO could interact with Russia via its embassy in Brussels if needed.

“We basically don’t have proper conditions for basic diplomatic activities as a result of the purposeful NATO steps. In response to NATO’s activities, we suspend the work of our permanent mission to NATO, including the work of the chief military representative, starting from November 1, or maybe it will take a couple more days,” said Lavrov.

“Secondly, we suspend the work of NATO’s military liaison in Moscow. Its employees’ accreditations will be recalled on November 1. And thirdly, we cease the work of NATO’s information bureau which was founded under Belgium’s embassy.”

Also, the NATO military mission in Moscow will cease its functions indefinitely, and the information bureau will be closed.

Lavrov noted that now there is no communication between the parties through the military.

“If NATO members have any urgent matters, they can turn to our ambassador to Belgium on these issues, who ensures bilateral relations between Russia and the Kingdom of Belgium,” Lavrov said.

Earlier this month, NATO expelled eight members of Russia’s mission to the alliance who it said were “undeclared Russian intelligence officers”.

According to the minister, this decision was not explained to Russia. Lavrov stressed that Moscow “will no longer pretend that any changes in relations are possible in the near future.”

At that time, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko accused NATO of duplicity and of using the idea of an alleged threat from Moscow as a bogeyman.

“After the dramatic end of the Afghan era, how can they can get by without the bogeyman of the ‘Russian threat’. They can’t,” he told Russia’s Kommersant daily newspaper.

NATO suspended practical cooperation with Russia in 2014 after Crimea became part of the Russian Federation, but has kept channels open for high-level meetings and for military-to-military cooperation.

Trafficking in human beings is a key threat perpetrated by criminal networks across the EU and harms victims through different forms of exploitation. Sexual exploitation is carried out in clandestine settings and public environments, targeting both adults and minors of all genders. The origins of victims of trafficking in human beings used for sexual exploitation in the EU are highly diverse, with more than 55 different reported nationalities inside and outside the EU. Labour exploitation occurs in various sectors of the economy, with more loosely regulated sectors being particularly vulnerable. Victims are typically exploited as low-wage and low-skilled seasonal workers. Traffickers also abuse their victims through several other forms of exploitation such as forced begging and forced criminality. Child trafficking is a particularly serious crime as it targets such vulnerable members of society. The trafficking and exploitation of underage victims occurs across the EU and targets both EU and non-EU victims, for various types of exploitation.

Human trafficking has a severe impact on the life of victims, often leaving them exposed to long-term social, physical and psychological harm. Law enforcement authorities have been increasing efforts in tackling traffickers and bringing victims to safety. Additional efforts have been invested as part of the EU’s European Multi-Disciplinary Platform Against Criminal Threats (EMPACT) framework. In 2021, three action weeks specifically focused on combating child trafficking, labour exploitation and labour exploitation in the agricultural sector. Queensland MP Shane Knuth's son, Daniel Knuth, charged with child exploitation offences

The son of a Queensland politician has been denied bail after being charged with possessing child exploitation material while on probation.

Key points:

The magistrate said releasing Knuth on bail constituted an "unacceptable risk"

Knuth avoided jail time for similar offending in 2019 due to his dwarfism and medical needs

His father, Queensland MP Shane Knuth said the charges had taken the family "by surprise"

Daniel Knuth, 24, is the son of Shane Knuth, the Katter's Australian Party state member for Hill.

Daniel Knuth is charged with possessing child exploitation material and four counts of failure to comply with reporting.

He was arrested and charged last week when probation officers attended his home and allegedly found illegal content on his mobile phone.

On Monday, lawyers representing Knuth made an application for bail in the Townsville Magistrates Court.

The court heard that during the visit on October 15, Knuth allegedly tried to delete applications from his phone before probation officers could see.

Police allege the phone contained photos and videos he had shared with other people on social media platforms, including Snapchat, using false names.

The court heard an image depicting a child aged between 10 and 12 was found on the device.

Police said a further analysis of the phone was being completed.

Previously spared jail

The court heard that Knuth was serving a four-year suspended sentence after pleading guilty to child exploitation offences in the Townsville District Court in 2019.

He was not required to serve time in custody because of his dwarfism and medical needs.

During the application for bail on Monday, prosecutor Rachel Todd told the court there were no bail conditions that could mitigate the risk that Knuth would reoffend if released.

Knuth was represented by Legal Aid layer Rhianna Lee, who asked he be released under the condition that he not have access to a mobile phone or the internet.

Ms Lee also suggested he live with his parents on their Charters Towers property and present to local police three times a week while on bail.

Adelaide paedophile to plead guilty to an additional 138 crimes against children

The lawyer for Adelaide paedophile Jadd William Brooker has said he will plead guilty to an additional 138 crimes against children when he faces court in November.

Counsel assisting HIV-positive Brooker, Tim Clarke, said the 39-year-old wishes to plead guilty to all but four of 142 offences he was charged with, including sexual exploitation of a child, maintaining an unlawful sexual relationship with a child and disseminating child exploitation material.

Magistrate Simon Smart said he would not accept pleas until he had read the charges to Brooker and he did not have time to read all 142 charges.

Brooker is expected to enter pleas at his next appearance in November.

Biden To Meet With Pope Days Before Pitching 15% Minimum Global Tax And Climate Plan To World Leaders

President Biden will be taking his global taxation and climate change ideas to the Pope, hours before the G20 summit in Rome later this month.

Before seeking the approval of world leaders on his plans for both, Biden may be looking to seek approval from one other major "world leader" about a global minimum tax of 15% and plans to reduce greenhouse gasses, according to Reuters.

Biden's meeting with the pope comes at a time when the church has "sought to admonish" Biden for his stance on abortion. Biden will be accompanied by his wife, the report says.

White House spokesperson Jen Psaki said: "They will discuss working together on efforts grounded in respect for fundamental human dignity, including ending the COVID-19 pandemic, tackling the climate crisis, and caring for the poor."

President Biden is also expected to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron while they are both in Rome, the report says.

Biden will also be attending the UN climate conference called COP26 in Glasgow on November 1st and 2nd. At that conference, he is expected to announce "key actions" on climate change.

The trips are supposed to signal the U.S. "re-engaging with international groups".

However, the rest of the world may have serious questions for Biden, including questions about his handling of the Afghanistan pull out and the U.S.'s carbon emission goals.

The U.S. is currently seeking to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50%-52% from 2005 to 2030.
