One other thing, the quote you have there, is talking about the priests and Pharisees etc. They were so careful about the little things of the law, but neglected the weightier matters of the law.

Mat 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Mat 23:24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

Mat 23:25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.

That is true, but it DOESN'T mean that the law is null and void.

Mat 5:17  Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 

Mat 5:18  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

So think about that. Without Jesus, the law condemns us, with Jesus, we have an out. Pretty simple. Regardless, the law still stands, it's just a question of which remedy you choose for the offense.

If the weatherman predicts a major storm, not everyone will believe him. When the storm hits and does it's damage, THEN everyone will believe the weatherman, but by then it's too late to make preparations.
