This. Plus humanely slaughtered animals are healthier and happier. Chickens, pork and cattle we do local too. Cost is sometimes more, sometimes less but 100% worth it. Helps farmers, reinforces neighbor relationships and bypasses the chain. I urge all anons who can do this, to do this.
Not necessarily. Stress is a real thing and releases adrenaline which can affect the taste of the meat. Our farmers use methods in field.. one minute eating dandelions, the next, dead. Cattle, especially, don’t like change and the typical rounding up into chutes and trailers, then to processing, all that stress can undo all the farmer’s efforts to produce quality beef.
That’s a good idea.. I need to try to do that.
