Denver attorney Steve Bachar wanted on felony theft, fraud charges

Bachar previously accused of mishandling $2 million set aside to purchase masks, gowns during pandemic

A warrant was issued Oct. 18 for Steve Bachar, 56, on charges of securities fraud and theft. He is accused of stealing between $100,000 and $1 million, as well as lying to an investor, according to a criminal complaint filed against him by the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

The crimes are alleged to have happened between Oct. 13, 2017, and Aug. 8, 2018, according to the complaint.

“Steven Charles Bachar, in connection with the offer, sale or purchase of a security, directly or indirectly, unlawfully, feloniously and willfully made an untrue statement of material fact or omitted to state a material fact necessary in order to make the statements made… not misleading,” the complaint reads.

Bachar previously worked with Sen. John Hickenlooper, serving as counsel on Hickenlooper’s campaign for Denver mayor and on his transition team, according to a news release that detailed his career when he joined the Denver law firm Moye White in 2015. The firm said Bachar was a member of its business section before leaving in August 2017.

New research in the journal American Behavioral Scientist (Sage publications, February 2010) addresses the concept of “State Crimes Against Democracy” (SCAD). Professor Lance deHaven-Smith from Florida State University writes that SCADs involve highlevel government officials, often in combination with private interests, that engage in covert activities for political advantages and power. Proven SCADs since World War II include McCarthyism (fabrication of evidence of a communist infiltration), Gulf of Tonkin Resolution (President Johnson and Robert McNamara falsely claimed North Vietnam attacked a US ship), burglary of the office of Daniel Ellsberg’s psychiatrist in effort to discredit Ellsberg, the Watergate break-in, Iran-Contra, Florida’s 2000 Election (felon disenfranchisement program), and fixed intelligence on WMDs to justify the Iraq War.1

Other suspected SCADs include the assassination of Lee Harvey Oswald, the shooting of George Wallace, the October Surprise near the end of the Carter presidency, military grade anthrax mailed to Senators Tom Daschle and Patrick Leahy, Martin Luther King’s assassination, and the collapse of World Trade Center Building 7 on September 11, 2001. The proven SCADs have a long trail of congressional hearings, public records, and academic research establishing the truth of the activities. The suspected SCADs listed above have substantial evidence of covert actions with countervailing deniability that tend to leave the facts in dispute.2

The term “conspiracy theory” is often used to denigrate and discredit inquiry into the veracity of suspected SCADs. Labeling SCAD research as “conspiracy theory” is an effective method of preventing ongoing investigations from being reported in the corporate media and keep them outside of broader public scrutiny. Psychologist Laurie Manwell, University of Guelph, addresses the psychological advantage that SCAD actors hold in the public sphere. Manwell, writing in American Behavioral Scientist (Sage 2010) states, “research shows that people are far less willing to examine information that disputes, rather than confirms, their beliefs . . . pre-existing beliefs can interfere with SCADs inquiry, especially in regards to September 11, 2001.”3

Professor Steven Hoffman, visiting scholar at the University of Buffalo, recently acknowledged this phenomenon in a study “There Must Be a Reason: Osama, Saddam and Inferred Justification.” Hoffman concluded, “Our data shows substantial support for a cognitive theory known as ‘motivated reasoning,’ which suggests that rather than search rationally for information that either confirms or disconfirms a particular belief, people actually seek out information that confirms what they already believe. In fact, for the most part people completely ignore contrary information.”4

Bonanza City is a ghost town, located 13 miles (21 km) southwest of Santa Fe in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, United States.[1] The town was founded in 1880 as a mining town, following the discovery of gold and silver in the nearby Cerrillos Hills. Background

The Cerrillos Hills are a grouping of hills in modern-day New Mexico containing deposits of valuable resources including silver, gold, lead, copper, and turquoise.[2][3] The Pueblo have mined for turquoise in the hills as early as the 900s CE.[2][3] During the 16th and 17th centuries, the colonizing Spanish used Pueblo slave labor to mine turquoise, as well as lead and silver.[2][3] In 1680, the Pueblo revolted against the Spanish and temporarily drove them from Santa Fe de Nuevo México (modern-day New Mexico); with the exception of a few sporadic mining operations, wide-scale mining would not occur again until the late 1800s.[note 1]

Ownership of the Cerrillos Hills region passed to Mexico in 1821 following the Mexican War of Independence and then to the United States in 1848 following the Mexican–American War. In May 1879, the administration of President Ulysses S. Grant began selling land in New Mexico, including the Cerrillos Hills region, to the American public.[4] Later that year, two miners from Colorado discovered gold and silver deposits within the Cerrillos Hills, which lead to a mining boom and the establishment of numerous mining towns around the Cerrillos Hills.[2][4] In September 1879, the Los Cerrillos Mining District was established to regulate mining claims within the region.[5] By the end of 1880, at least 500 mining shafts had been opened within the district.[6]

Original town

Bonanza City was founded in 1880 by John Mahoney, the former US consul to Algiers.[1][10] Bonanza is Spanish for "prosperity" or "rich ore pocket";[10] Bonanza City was one of the many mining towns founded after the discovery of valuable minerals in the Los Cerrillos hills.[2][11] By July 1881, the town contained a store, post office, hotel, and smelter;[1] Bonanza City also had a church and priest at some point in the early 1880s.[7] The town lacked important amenities such as a barbershop, shoemaker, and a general merchandise store.[1] Bonanza City had a population of up to 2,000 people,[10] presumably at some point from 1880 to 1883.[1]

In 1883, the Bonanza City post office closed, while the smelter was transported to Albuquerque after Bonanza failed to provide enough ore.[1][12][13] The population of Bonanza City dropped to 200 by 1884, although some demand for miners existed for another year or so.[1] The town went into further decline following 1885 and was largely abandoned by 1890.[1][7] Bonanza City experienced a temporary revival in the early 1900s after the construction of a small smelter,[7] but was ultimately completely abandoned at some point in the early 20th century.[note 3] Today, all that remains of the original town are building foundations and the ruins of the smelter.[1]

Use as a filming location

The Bonanza Creek Movie Ranch is located near the ruins of Bonanza City.[note 4] The Hughes family obtained the ranch during the 1940s.[20] The family has used the ranch as a filming location since the early 1950s, when scenes from The Man from Laramie were filmed there.[21] Dozens of films, including Silverado, The Legend of the Lone Ranger, and A Million Ways to Die in the West, have since been filmed in part or entirely on the ranch.[20] The 2007 television show Kid Nation, which aired for one season on CBS, was also filmed on the ranch.[19] The series tasked 40 children, ranging in age from 8 to 15, with revitalizing a fictionalized version of Bonanza City and correcting the supposed mistakes of the city's original residents.[22][19] The show proved controversial and faced claims of child exploitation.[23][19]

The earliest films produced on the ranch either took place outdoors or used facades.[21] Starting in the 1980s, a permanent movie set was constructed on the ranch by the Hughes family and various production companies.[21][19] The set consists of complete, free standing buildings that are supplied with water and electricity.[21]

On October 21, 2021, the film Rust was in production in Bonanza when Alec Baldwin discharged a prop firearm on the set, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza.

Not necessarily. Stress is a real thing and releases adrenaline which can affect the taste of the meat. Our farmers use methods in field.. one minute eating dandelions, the next, dead. Los Angeles is launching the US' biggest universal basic income pilot. The scheme will pay $1,000 a month to 3,000 families.

The scheme will give about 3,000 families in poverty $1,000 a month for a year, and there are no rules for how the families spend the money.

To be eligible, applicants need to live in the City of Los Angeles, be at least 18 years old, have an income at or below the federal poverty level, have at least one dependent minor or be pregnant, and have experienced either financial or medical hardships related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The federal poverty level depends on the size of a household. For a four-person household, a family earning less than $26,500 would fall under the federal poverty line. Poverty affects two out of every 10 residents in the City of Los Angeles - most of them people of color, according to a website for the program.

The program is called the Basic Income Guaranteed: Los Angeles Economic Assistance Pilot (BIG LEAP).

It has nearly $40 million in funding, South LA Councilman Curren Price said at a City Council meeting Tuesday, where council members approved the program.

The city said that the program would consist of "unconditional, regular, and direct cash payments," with "no restrictions on how the money can be spent." The payments would supplement existing welfare programs, the city said.

The state has failed to invest appropriately in large, statewide surface-water storage and conveyance, leaving California ill-prepared for drought conditions and jeopardizing its environmental and fiscal health. In 2014, Californians overwhelmingly voted for Prop. 1, which included significant resources for critical, large surface-water storage that would provide a more reliable water supply. However, the political will to prioritize building these projects faded just as soon as water began falling from the sky and environmentalists pushed back against any new reservoirs.

Seven years later, amid another drought emergency, the money Californians provided for storage in 2014 still go unused. About $2.7 billion of the $7.2 billion in Prop. 1 bonds was allocated specifically for water storage projects, but only $150 million has been authorized, according to the Public Policy Institute of California. To date, not one shovel has hit the ground, not one gallon of water has been stored.

In 2016, after spending billions on habitat restoration and research to better understand the needs of listed species and a growing state, the state and federal governments mutually decided to update the coordinated operations plan that governs the federally operated Central Valley Project and California’s State Water Project. After a full environmental review, the U.S.

Bureau of Reclamation underPresident Donald Trump authorized a new operations plan in February 2020 and began implementing the new biological recommendations the next day — capturing, storing and delivering water. UNOI was founded more than 40 years ago by Royall Jenkins, a trucker who “represented that he, himself, was Allah, or God,” the indictment explains. “Jenkins claimed that in approximately 1978, he was abducted by angels who transported him through the galaxy in a spaceship and instructed him how to rule on Earth,” the papers say.

Trafficking Victim: They Made Me Have Sex With Cops

At first, Jenkins and UNOI were based in Maryland, but he moved the organization’s headquarters to Kansas City, Kansas, in the late 1990s, according to the filing. There, the group continued to grow, eventually comprising “hundreds” of members. Later, UNOI changed its name to The Value Creators and The Promise Keepers, the filing states. Jenkins led UNOI until roughly 2012, relying on several of his many wives to help him manage operations, it explains.

In 2018, a young woman who was trafficked as an unpaid laborer for a decade by UNOI was awarded $8 million in damages for the abuse she suffered at UNOI’s hands. Kendra Ross said she was forced to leave her mother at age 12, was married off to another UNOI member at age 20, and was ordered to work for free in at least six different locations run by the group before managing to escape in 2012.

A federal judge in 2018 issued a warrant for Jenkins’ arrest after ignoring multiple court orders seeking to determine the extent of his assets. His whereabouts were unknown as of last July, and a call on Tuesday to a number listed for Jenkins in Kansas City went unanswered.
