Who is seated between them (if they are his grandparents), and why are they separated by at least one person? The man with hat may be in front of them, rather than between them, leaving open the admittedly wild possibily that the then 2yr+3mo-old Obama was between them (and therefore present as well).

Just sayin' - It was likely someone related, or otherwise close, for them to have him or her between them.
