Barrett and Kavanaugh Join Supreme Court Liberals To Reject Stay Of Maine Vax Mandate Lacking Religious Exemption

Worried about the shadow docket: “Were the standard otherwise, applicants could use the emergency docket to force the Court to give a merits preview in cases that it would be unlikely to take—and to doso on a short fuse without benefit of full briefing and oral argument.”

On substance, the request for the Supreme Court to stay a Maine regulation mandating coronavirus vaccination for healthcare workers should have been an easy one. The law contains no religious exemption, but does contain a medical exemption which requires virtually no proof of medical condition. Consistent with other Supreme Court decisions which didn’t question government power during a pandemic, but insisted that religion not be disfavored, stay should have issued.

But no. In an Order accompanied by a concurring opinion by Amy Coney Barrett joined by Brett Kavanaugh, the Court 6-3 denied the stay (emphasis added):

Michigan police are hunting for a missing voting machine. Local officials point to GOP clerk who promoted QAnon theories.

Michigan State Police are investigating the disappearance of voting equipment from a rural township after a clerk who promoted conspiracy theories was stripped of her duties.

Adams Township Clerk Stephanie Scott was barred from administering the upcoming Nov. 2 election after she refused to allow legally-required maintenance and accuracy testing on voting machines. Hillsdale County Clerk Marney Kast, who was appointed to run the election, suspects Scott confiscated a tablet containing sensitive election information.

“At this point in time I have no idea where it’s at,” Kast said. “I assume it’s with (Scott).”

Arizona School Calls Police On Parents for Protesting Masking And Segregation Of Children

On Friday night, Arizona parents planned on voicing their concerns about mask segregation in schools, in the parking lot of the Sweetwater School.

After planning the protest and even inviting the School Board, the group received an email from a district employee stating that the protesters needed to have an insurance policy in order to practice their first amendment right.

They got an insurance policy that covers $250,000 per person but somehow this was not enough. The school wanted insurance worth $1 million per person.

When the parents and local leaders showed up for their peaceful protest, they were met by school security, who barricaded the parking lot and then called the Phoenix Police for backup.

Segregating children is abhorrent!

Terry McAuliffe Hires Controversial Ex-Clinton Lawyer Marc Elias

As a long-standing associate of the Clintons, Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe has long ties with the Democratic establishment. That history was placed into sharp relief this week when he made a hefty downpayment on the services of former Clinton counsel Marc Elias. Elias is a critical figure in the ongoing Durham investigation and has been accused of lying to the media to hide the role of the Clinton campaign in funding the Steele dossier. His former partner Michael Sussmann at Perkins Coie was recently indicted by Durham. Elias has also led efforts to challenge Democratic losses, even as he denounces Republicans for such election challenges. Elias has been sanctioned in past litigation.

Like Sussmann, Elias has left Perkins Coie. He ironically created a law firm on campaign ethics. McAuliffe may be preparing to challenge any win by Republican Glenn Youngkin. He has given $53,680 to the Elias Law Group. McAuliffe does not appear disturbed by Elias’ highly controversial career or his possible exposure in the Durham investigation.
