The MEG lab, open since March 2011, is used by researchers across MIT. Projects are as diverse as studying visual attention, language processing, or even olfactory responses to pleasant and unpleasant smells. β€œIt is a very exciting field of research, you never know how the brain will respond to different stimuli,” says Pantazis.

Happens moar often than one would think anon. Aircraft have "crosswind limitations". Even though visability is good if the winds are abnormaly high it can wreak fucking havoc on the system. Airports like KLGA are forced to land and take off on the same runway and that delay ripples through the system. Ground stops begin to be implemented etc……You can be taxing out in KATL on a beautful day and be held on the ground because the airspace in the Northeast sector is slammed with traffic and bad weather, high winds, various other reasons. Crews start timing out. The airplane you were waiting on to take your kek ass to KLAX was the one coming from KATL etc…….With the new "Passenger's Right" rules once an aircraft is off the gate and is going to be delayed possibly up to 3 hours or moar now you have to go back to the gate on and on and on. Doesn't take much to fuck the system up.

 

That said, it is also likely that the crews individually are sending the company a message.

On Saturday, American canceled nearly 460 flights, or 17% of its mainline schedule, according to flight-tracking site FlightAware. Dallas-based Southwest Airlines cut 86 flights, or 2% of its Saturday operation.

 

American canceled another 285 flights, or 10% of its schedule planned for Sunday, on top of 340 cancellations on Friday.

 

American’s COO David Seymour said in a staff note on Saturday that the problems started with high wind gusts on Thursday that cut capacity at its Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport hub and that crew members ended up out of position for their next flights.

 

Pilot and flight attendant availability were listed as reasons for most of the cancellations on Saturday and Sunday, according to internal tallies, which were seen by CNBC.

 

β€œWith additional weather throughout the system, our staffing begins to run tight as crew members end up out of their regular flight sequences,” Seymour wrote. He said that most customers were rebooked the same day and that he expects the operation to stabilize in November.

 

Airlines have struggled with staffing shortfalls that have sparked hundreds of flight cancellations and other disruptions since travel demand rebounded sharply in late spring. Carriers had convinced thousands of staff members to accept voluntary buyouts or leaves of absence to cut their payroll expenses during the depths of the pandemic.

 

Now they are trying to staff up again, hiring pilots, flight attendants, ramp and customer service workers, and others. Leaner staffing makes it harder for airlines to recover from disruptions like bad weather or technology problems.

 

Southwest earlier this month said that a meltdown earlier this month in which it canceled more than 2,000 flights cost it $75 million. It also said it would further trim its remaining 2021 schedule after earlier cuts to avoid more disruptions.

 

American Airlines’ Seymour said that 1,800 flight attendants would be returning from leave starting Nov. 1 and that the rest would be back by December. It said it also is in the process of hiring pilots, mechanics, airport workers and reservations agents β€œso more team members will be in place for the holiday season.

Arizona School Calls Police On Parents for Protesting Masking And Segregation Of Children

 

On Friday night, Arizona parents planned on voicing their concerns about mask segregation in schools, in the parking lot of the Sweetwater School.

 

After planning the protest and even inviting the School Board, the group received an email from a district employee stating that the protesters needed to have an insurance policy in order to practice their first amendment right.

 

They got an insurance policy that covers $250,000 per person but somehow this was not enough. The school wanted insurance worth $1 million per person.

 

When the parents and local leaders showed up for their peaceful protest, they were met by school security, who barricaded the parking lot and then called the Phoenix Police for backup.

President Joe Biden gave Pope Francis a deeply personal challenge coin during his trip to the Vatican on Friday, marking the gift with a moment of light-heartedness that nods to a long tradition in the US military.

Beau Biden died in 2015 at the age of 46 from brain cancer. Biden has also said he corresponded with the Pope following Beau's death.

The President said during Friday's Vatican visit that the coins are given to "warriors and leaders," adding, "You are the most significant warrior for peace I've ever met."

Long was a passenger onboard the flight for a vacation, she explained in a Twitter thread, and was almost removed from the aircraft after unsuccessfully trying to get the pilot to comment for her story on the topic.

 

Additional information about the specific flight is unknown. When asked for comment, Southwest told Long and Insider: "The Southwest Team takes pride in providing a welcoming, comfortable, and respectful environment for the millions of Customers who fly with the airline each year and behavior from any individual that is divisive or offensive is not condoned."

 

The phrase "Let's Go, Brandon" has been a rallying cry of the right to secretly bash the president. Its origins can be traced to a NASCAR event during which NBC Sports reporter Kelli Stavast mistakenly identified chants from a crowd to be saying "Let's Go, Brandon," when they were actually saying "Fuck Joe Biden."

 

In Arizona, a Marine veteran that was being honored by the Yuma County Sheriff's Office wore a shirt to his ceremony that stated "Let's Go, Brandon," and was interviewed by local news with it on. Conservative commentators have also resorted to calling the president by the nickname "Brandon" instead of his true name.

 

Southwest did not cancel any flights between Houston and Albuquerque on Friday, indicating that Long's flight progressed as planned despite the incident.

The American slaves cannot enumerate this among the injuries and insults they receive. They excelled too in science, insomuch as to be usually employed as tutors to their masters' children. Epictetus, Terence, and Phaedrus, were slaves. But they were of the race of whites. When Republican Rep. Bill Posey of Florida ended an Oct. 21 House floor speech with a fist pump and the phrase β€œLet’s go, Brandon!” it may have seemed cryptic and weird to many who were listening. But the phrase was already growing in right-wing circles, and now the seemingly upbeat sentiment actually a stand-in for swearing at Joe Biden is everywhere.

 

South Carolina Republican Jeff Duncan wore a β€œLet’s Go Brandon” face mask at the Capitol last week. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz posed with a β€œLet’s Go Brandon” sign at the World Series. Sen. Mitch McConnell’s press secretary retweeted a photo of the phrase on a construction sign in Virginia.

 

The line has become conservative code for something far more vulgar: β€œFβ€”- Joe Biden.” It’s all the rage among Republicans wanting to prove their conservative credentials, a not-so-secret handshake that signals they’re in sync with the party’s base.

 

Americans are accustomed to their leaders being publicly jeered, and former President Donald Trump’s often-coarse language seemed to expand the boundaries of what counts as normal political speech.

 

But how did Republicans settle on the Brandon phrase as a G-rated substitute for its more vulgar three-word cousin?

 

It started at an Oct. 2 NASCAR race at the Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama. Brandon Brown, a 28-year-old driver, had won his first Xfinity Series and was being interviewed by an NBC Sports reporter. The crowd behind him was chanting something at first difficult to make out. The reporter suggested they were chanting β€œLet’s go, Brandon” to cheer the driver. But it became increasingly clear they were saying: β€œFβ€”- Joe Biden.”

 

NASCAR and NBC have since taken steps to limit β€œambient crowd noise” during interviews, but it was too late β€” the phrase already had taken off.

 

When the president visited a construction site in suburban Chicago a few weeks ago to promote his vaccinate-or-test mandate, protesters deployed both three-word phrases. This past week, Biden’s motorcade was driving past a β€œLet’s Go Brandon” banner as the president passed through Plainfield, New Jersey.

 

And a group chanted β€œLet’s go, Brandon” outside a Virginia park on Monday when Biden made an appearance on behalf of the Democratic candidate for governor, Terry McAuliffe. Two protesters dropped the euphemism entirely, holding up hand-drawn signs with the profanity.

The biggest difference, though, between the sentiments hurled at the Grover Clevelands of yore and modern politicians is the amplification they get on social media.

 

β€œBefore the expansion of social media a few years ago, there wasn’t an easily accessible public forum to shout your nastiest and darkest public opinions,” said Matthew Delmont, a history professor at Dartmouth College.

 

Even the racism and vitriol to which former President Barack Obama was subjected was tempered in part because Twitter was relatively new. There was no TikTok. As for Facebook, leaked company documents have recently revealed how the platform increasingly ignored hate speech and misinformation and allowed it to proliferate.

 

A portion of the U.S. was already angry well before the Brandon moment, believing the 2020 presidential election was rigged despite a mountain of evidence to the contrary, which has stood the test of recounts and court cases.

 

But anger has now moved beyond die-hard Trump supporters, said Stanley Renshon, a political scientist and psychoanalyst at the City University of New York.

 

He cited the Afghanistan withdrawal, the southern border situation and rancorous school board debates as situations in which increasing numbers who were not vocally anti-Biden now feel that β€œhow American institutions are telling the American public what they clearly see and understand to be true, is in fact not true.”

 

Trump hasn’t missed the moment. His Save America PAC now sells a $45 T-shirt featuring β€œLet’s go Brandon” above an American flag. One message to supporters reads, β€œ#FJB or LET’S GO BRANDON? Either way, President Trump wants YOU to have our ICONIC new shirt.”

 

Separately, T-shirts are popping up in storefronts with the slogan and the NASCAR logo.

 

And as for the real Brandon, things haven’t been so great. He drives for a short-staffed, underfunded team owned by his father. And while that win β€” his first career victory β€” was huge for him, the team has long struggled for sponsorship and existing partners have not been marketing the driver since the slogan.

With the morals of the people, their industry also is destroyed. For in a warm climate, no man will labour for himself who can make another labour for him. This is so true, that of the proprietors of slaves a very small proportion indeed are ever seen to labour. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with his wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep for ever: that considering numbers, nature and natural means only, a revolution of the wheel of fortune, an exchange of situation is among possible events: that it may become probable by supernatural interference! The almighty has no attribute which can take side with us in such a contest. - But it is impossible to be temperate and to pursue this subject through the various considerations of policy, of morals, of history natural and civil. Facebook’s new name makes people laugh in Israel. Meta, as CEO Mark Zuckerberg proudly christened his parent company this week, means β€˜death’ in Hebrew. And that causes a lot of hilarity on social media.

 

Until now, the group behind the social network was also called Facebook. But the parent company is changing its name to Meta, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced this week. The new name fits better with Zuckerberg’s ambitious plans to develop a new virtual world. The social media app will continue to be called Facebook. The company behind it also owns Instagram, WhatsApp and Oculus.

 

Since the announcement, especially Jewish users poke fun at the name change. Meta is very similar to the Hebrew word for β€œdeath,” tweeted tech expert Nirit Weiss-Blatt. β€œThe Jewish community will ridicule this name for years to come,” she wrote. Other twitterers also point out to Facebook the unfortunate choice of name.

 

Facebook’s new name is now a joke in Israel. But others find it more sinister.

 

Others noted that the music to the Universal Death Squad was playing in the background when Zuckerberg made the Meta announcement.

 

Facebook is involved in censoring conservatives and the truth, election fraud, and COVID media manipulation. Maybe Zuckerberg did know the name of Meta in Hebrew.

American Airlines Cancels More Than 1,000 Flights in 24 Hours – Blames Staffing Shortages and β€˜High Winds’

 

American Airlines canceled more than 1,000 flights in 24 hours and blamed staffing shortages and weather disruptions.

 

American Airlines told workers they must be fully vaccinated against Covid by November 24 or face termination.

 

According to the pilot union at American, 30% – or 4,200 – of airline’s pilots are still not vaccinated for Covid.

 

Now the airliner is being forced to cancel flights due to staffing shortages and β€œhigh wind gusts” near their busiest hub.

 

CNBC reported:

 

American Airlines has canceled more than 1,000 flights since Friday, disruptions it blamed on staffing problems and high winds at its busiest hub.

 

On Saturday, American canceled nearly 460 flights, or 17% of its mainline schedule, according to flight-tracking site FlightAware. Dallas-based Southwest Airlines cut 86 flights, or 2% of its Saturday operation.

 

American canceled another 285 flights, or 10% of its schedule planned for Sunday, on top of 340 cancellations on Friday.

 

American’s COO David Seymour said in a staff note on Saturday that the problems started with high wind gusts on Thursday that cut capacity at its Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport hub and that crew members ended up out of position for their next flights.

 

Pilot and flight attendant availability were listed as reasons for most of the cancellations on Saturday and Sunday, according to internal tallies, which were seen by CNBC.

 

Earlier this month Southwest Airlines was forced to cancel thousands of flights which cost them $75 million after pilots boycotted their vaccine mandate.

Not every citizen eligible to vote files a tax return and not every entity filing a tax return is a citizen. Capice !!

There was a procedural way to vote via absentee bsllot that requires proof of identity and residence.

This past year 2020 election by mail-in ballot was a completely compromised method that required no proof of anything.

 

The only way is full transparency, where you as an individual can audit your vote and you walk out of the voting booth with a receipt that has your district, ballot number and selections.
